I remember when the two groups came together The MOONglows and the MOOnlighters. I was a young kid. This was a wquality group and had grat lead singers. Harvey was one. RIP. I also seem to rember thtat he discovered Etta James. I believe they were boy friend girl friend.
R.I.P. HARVEY FUQUA, JULY 27, 1929 - JULY 6, 2010. HARVEY GAVE ME MY FIRST JOB IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY AS HIS SECRETARY. THANKS FOR STOPPING BY AND BLESSING US WITH YOUR MUSIC HARVEY. YOU WILL BE MISSED
Talent all around us I didn't know much about the full history of the Moonglows, Harvery Fuqua will be missed. If somone can confirm was Marvin Gaye in this group? Mainly my prayers are with his loveones.
@WHP2005 Marvin played the organ for them. You can hear their influence in his music in songs like "Distant Lover", the background vocals and sax playing in "Come Get to This", and the classic "Baby, I'm Real", which was recorded by The Originals and penned by Marvin and I believe his wife, Anna. And may Harvey R.I.P.
@amd77j Thank You! Marva designs put my work together, one of the best designers that I know. If you know anyone that needs a web site please let me know. Marva can be reach at My Space by name Thank You again.

RIP, Harvey. You were undoubtedly an institution and a true hall of fame legend in 20th century American popular music. Thanks for your tremendous talent as a performer, songwriter and producer, your rich musical legacy and influencing the careers of so many great artists.
Let us keep Harvey Fuqua in your thoughts and wishes as he is now on life support. Let us wish him and his family a speedy recovery and make it eyond this setback.
Did you know... Australia is the only place in the world where this song reached the Top 40? It reached #12 on the Sydney 2SM Top 40 and #20 in Melbourne in mid-1959. I think it reached the lower reachers of the Top 100 in America, but gotta love the Aussies for putting so many "nobody's" in the Top 40. On the top of my head; Crash Craddock (Boom Boom Baby #1, Well Don't You Know #2, One Last Kiss #1 etc.), Oliver Cool (Oliver Cool #10), Russ Aladdin (Annie Adorable #13)...the list gos on, PEACE
Yes, what a wonderful voice !! Classic! And he is still alive, singing and recording today. I had the honor to record and produce 4 songs with Harvey Fuqua about 2 years ago. They are not released yet and Harvey is planing to record a full album in the near future. Let's all hope he will be able to finish his new album and let's support him with our love and appreciation!
Vantalge, the day they make a CD with this on it i'll fly to where ever they're selling it! So in one word, no. It can be hunted down on a few things though, the originaly 45 - (in America) Chess-1725, (in England) Columbia-DB4572, (in Australia) London HL-2568. It can be found on his original LP released in 1959, "Harvey without The Moonglows" on the according labels to the country... and
I saw Harvey at the Las Vegas Doo-Wop convention 11/17/07. He still has "it". He exudes charisma on the stage. He current Moonglows group is great as well with Johnny Keyes of the Magnificents. Harvey is a very engaging likeable man who is truly an icon.
Kudos for posting this, Harvey Fuqua is my idol i have all the singles on his Harvey label and most of the ones from his Tri-Phi label, Harvey is the man!!!!!!!!!!!! a true Genius, if it wasnt for Harvey there'd be no Marvin Gaye, no Spinners or Jr Walker & The Allstars, or Shorty Long and Ann Bogan
I love this!
