Do British cops get regular training with firearms even if they are not required to carry them? In an emergency it might be necessary to arm them rather then wait for units that are trained to carry guns.
@schizoidboy No, instead they have firearms units. It's like a scaled down version of US cops. Regular cops in the US carry guns, Brits carry batons, SWAT gets bigger guns, firearms unit in the UK get's pistols and occasional MP5s. To my knowledge they don't have anything above that, except snipers for hostage situations etc. Hope this helped :)
I just have one question, how come the U.K. has to dispatch armed officers? All of the officers, as far as i Know, in the U.S. carry. I have just been wondering that.
i personally think that if some wannabe crook decided to do some sort of crime with a fake gun, the cops should not care wether its real or not, the individual has already presented that if he had the means, he would use lethal force, and i dont care for the situation at hand.
its a shame people use these types of weapons in a negative way... makes it harder for genuine target shooters and genuine gun enthusiasts to posses them, as not all people who hold a FAC are bad after all.
