This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You REALLY think the reason there's high unemployment is because of foreign workers? Get a clue, Roy! It's b/c we're in a RECESSION! There aren't that many jobs to go around b/c there's less growth, and people are getting laid off. The amount of foreign workers in the U.S. cannot possibly account for those 15 million. What about high-skilled native workers who lost their jobs? You really think they're gonna take low-skill illegals' jobs??

I really respect Roy and his opinions, though living in Southern California my entire life and having watched what special needs immigration means, i.e. 400,000 San Salvadorans allowed to remain after twenty years being given another round of twenty years to stay and those are the ones who claim political persecution, having babies and their babies having babies are a BIG part of the immigration problem.

China use to be a purely communist country, but in order to get trade relations with America it had to become less communist and allow relatively more freedom than would have happened if Nixon would have decided to continue to isolate China like the Presidents before him.

Our policy of trade with China has led to more freedom in China. Our policy of isolation with countries - such as Cuba and North Korea - have lead to less freedoms for those people.

Those workers have to come from somewhere. Either we have to get them to come here, immigration, or we go to them, outsourcing.

These are all facts that are easy to attain just by doing your own research.

We use to make a lot of things in America because of two things. One, because of protectionist tarrifts that hindered the economy and, two, because the vast majority of Americans had low educational achievement so menial labor was the only real option available. Since the 70's America has become vastly more educated. More people are going to college. That means less low skilled American workers.

You wont do it but someone will. That is why you are being priced out of the market. People are willing to do jobs out there for less. Just like some companies overprice there goods and go out of business so you remain unemployed because you overprice your services.

Doing some stupid protectionist policy of stopping welfare is only going to lead to the jobs going overseas anyway.

Good idea. We'll let people who are willing to live 15 to a house without running water drive our wages down. We'll continue to let China import tariff-free, too, so their low standards will drive us out of business. China had over 5,400 miners killed in 2006, that's not a typo. How cheap do you think their electricity is as a result of zero mine safety standards? Is that the standard you want for the US, or would you rather us just go out of business? There are 1000's of other examples.

I find it funny when you complain when its just your wages that are driven down but you don't seem to complain when it makes that new house, flat screen tv, car, or many other thing cheaper.

Show me an economist with any merit that doesn't believe free trade is good then I might worry about our free trade with China.

Your point on safety standards has nothing to do with this debate as I'm not for lowering US safety standards and they have nothing to do with employing immigrants.

illegal immigrants should deported. there are Americans or Americans govt sponsoring legal immigrant, and then hold their life for 20 to 30 years on backlog, thats the problem, even if you stop coming any legal or illigel immigrant, but people already working an Teaching , Research and technology sector, don't hold their life. Or send them back, But if you show them dream for Citizenship, then put for 20 years on hold for nothing, that Insane.

I supported and voted for Obama. Now he and Dem leaders are calling us names if we disagree with them; un American, extremist, radicals, internal terrorists, racists. He has set up a special Whitehouse e-mail so Americans can report on other Americans for disagreeing with him. That is incredible and frightening. His numbers are falling because whole groups are seeing that he is not for them. Immigration, both legal & illegal costs $338 billion a year. We cannot afford immigration now.
