@korintor I went to guns n roses phoenix 2011 and it was amazing. better played than the original of course the new band had to prove that they can write good stuff and no just cover stuff.

this is a sick album though, not better than appetite. the fact is, the radio stations wont play it because A: axl doesnt bother to promote it too much. B: alot of people are pissed at axl for chasing the previous members away, and therefore are QUICK TO JUDGE this album as trash. this album is better than most rock crap that comes out nowadays. the lesson is that when you are quick to judge something as bad, it makes it harder for you to actually like something.
@lee0122333 Agreed. When I first got this album I basically went through each song and rejected them after hearing just 30secs of it (bar TIL). I still ripped it to my mp3 though. One day while listening to my mp3 on shuffle I realised that I really liked this one song but I couldn't put my finger on what it was called or whom if was by.When I later checked it out I saw that it was from CD and I swear my world tilted. I went back an listened to the whole thing again and really liked it.
i think a bands name is best associated by the most prominent members that were with it. in this case it would be slash, izzy, duff, dizzy, etc because they did 3 big albums. since then axls done 1. the fact that all of them left and after having read slash's book and adler's book, the common denominator for leaving was axl rose. theres something wrong with the guy, not to mention he starts his shows 6 hours late on a constant basis or whatever. anyways he shoulda changed the name to axlrose

Everyone is so fixated on who's playing what, rather than the actual song itself. This is still GnR, it might be just Axl with a new line up, and a modernized sound, but it's still guns. Axl is just expressing the darker, more depressing side of his life, or stuff that might have inspired him. Not every song has to be about sex, drugs, or trying someone (lol get in the ring!). And if we're really gonna get technical here, band changed as soon as Izzy left. Izzy produced the melody for most songs

Yeah, it is Guns. A band is remains a band as long as one founding member remains. If not, then the band which we know as "Queen" wouldn't be Queen because of Freddy Mercury's Death, or to be put it better, Guns N' Roses wouldn't be Guns N' Roses because of the original departure of Tracii Guns an ORIGINAL, founding memeber. And if thats the case then "Guns N' Roses" ended as soon as Adler left the band. Point: It is Guns N' Roses. This album just risked a new sound, like in 87'
Please understand, everyone's expectations of Axl ranting an aggressive raspy sound, a lead guitarist using sick licks and a awesome solo, followed by powerful drumming for a rough in your face sound, or some their more classic ballads or covers just didn't happen THIS TIME. @moraleslenny you are missing my point, I know the band is called guns and roses... I am not disputing that. But there was a wild hard rock guns and roses sound in the 80s and early 90s that is not there anymore. This gnr is only partially that old gnr in the similarity with some tunes in the UYI albums (stranged, breakdown)... I don't think they risked anything. They just did the album that axl always wanted to do.

Trust me, I'm a die hard GnR fan, who was scared when they broke up, and very disapointed at first with Chinese Democracy, I too felt the same way. This isn't GnR, just a whole new band. But it's not, sad to say but a band lies with the singer. If not then should we have called Velvet Revolver, Guns N' roses? Only the singer and rhythm changed. It's a bad thing, but it's true.

UYI wasn't like AFD, wasn't like live suicide, wasn't like gnr w/tracci,wasn't like hollywood rose. I kinda agree axl is sucking. Not in this album though, he sounds great and the songs are great. BUT, check out his live performance in rock rio 2011, look at how much weight he had gain, he dont run around as much, hes got a yellow raincoat, he cant sing as well and he forgets the lyrics.

Mayb if they reunite some dicks all over the world won't mind going to Slash's or GNR's concerts because "They'd seen the last show of GNR" it's scary but that leads to a huge abyss between GNR n it's audience. I bet no one's willin to take such a bet.

if chinese democracy goes down as a failure in the publics eyes so be it..imo its a classic record that i will always love and listen to..so i guess if slash was playing the guitar on this song then everybody would hail it as a classic gnr tune right?for the people whining about the original band it hasnt been original since after gnr lies time to move on.

God! Slash was not the founder of GnR, I seriously hope you're joking, please? Guns N Roses was a mix from L.A Guns and Hollywood Rose, Axl was the one who came up with that... Slash wasn't even in the band when this name was decided, if anyone should be called the "founders" of GnR those would be Axl Rose and Tracii Guns the leaders of their respective bands. I kinda agree axl is sucking. Not in this album though, he sounds great and the songs are great. BUT, check out his live performance in rock rio 2011, look at how much weight he had gain, he dont run around as much, hes got a yellow raincoat, he cant sing as well and he forgets the lyrics.
