Ferrari ran the 1973 season with the 312PB's, but with nothing like the results of 1972. Then some or all of the cars were sold of to privateers for 1974..
Go to "World Sports Car Championship" online for more details on each years results.
It was eventually sold to them, but only run by the factory, which deemd the too tricky for privateer racing. The factory had a great lineup (including Brian Redman, Jacky Ickx, and many other greats) and won all 10 of the championship races with this goddess of a car in 1972. In my opinion, this car, when fully revved (whether onboard or afar) has the greatest sound, period.
BTW - you should check out "Victory By Design" (featuring Alan DeCadenet (there's a clip of the portion with this car on YouTube)). If you watch the whole documentary, there's a great shot of this car in the credits, as it streams down a long straight, letting out the whining/roaring sound that only a Ferrari can make.

What about the racing history of this car? As far as I know it has never been raced by a private team -
