  • oops i spotted a mistake the instrument is called a cither viol invented by Thomas Perry in about 1767, can be called a Quinton 5 string, Paul

  • He's something else - hope to hear of him doing a few concerts soon!

  • I LOVE this piece of music! What a curious instrument! Thats no ordinary fiddle!

Colm Mac Con Iomaire is a legend. Ar fheabhas!

  • OMG! He is a violin god!

  • Maith an fear colm, iontach ar fad.

  • this instrument looks like a Thomas Perry zither viol with a chopped down neck to 5 strings from a 10 string model, though he did make one with 6 strings, he died in 1818

  • wish i lived in Ireland !

  • lovely ...:)

  • Wonderful.

  • Its called emer's dream

  • @naoscaire007

Ooh, I know the story of Emer. This song is wonderful, I'm adding it to my novel playlist. The novel is about faeries and humans and has Fionn MacCumhaill in it.

  • I-mazing!

  • Did you notice his violin has 5 strings. Is there a name for that - 'viol' or 'viola' or something?

  • @ooconnor just known as a five-stringed violin, any special name for it would be the name of the model by the maker. a viol is a baroque era cello type instrument, and a viola is a different type of instrument, like a violin but a string lower. :)

  • aww man this is great

  • the looping violin in the background reminds me of Simon Jeffes' 'Music For A Found Harmonium'. I wonder if he's an influence.

  • Absolutely beautiful! I have his CD. But getting to see him play this piece was intimate and wonderful! Thanks for sharing it!
