thats better than my pontiac grand am, if someone threw grass clippings form a bridge as i drove under my car would be sliced apart as i drove through them.
@coasterfreak100 Agreed. If it isn't Honda or Toyota, according to them, it's absolute garbage. Look at the Corvette: one of the most celebrated sports cars of all time and CP doesn't even recommend it.
The car actually did very well. Dummy kinematics were good, the safety cage held, the passive restraints worked properly, and the crumple zones, well, crumpled to absorb the impact energy.
And, since it earned BEST PICK designation, injury measures in this collision were obviously low. The occupant protection systems worked just like they were supposed to in this test.
If you were the driver in this crash, you'd survive with only minor injuries.
A Volkswagen and BMW can do so much betterthan this. I hit a cement barricade at 80MPH in a redesigned 2001 VW Passat and I only broke my lower right forearm. Buick cannot survive such a crash.
First point, Volkswagens and BMW's are always more expensive. Secondly, did you not just see that Buick get a good rating? Third, not a single BMW or Volkswagen product made the IIHS Top Pick 2007 list. However, several Fords did (Edge, Taurus, Sable) as did the Buick LaCrosse (for 2006).

That is pretty amazing, a 40 MPH crash and not even a crack in the windshield. I'm glad I drive this thing.
leadinglegacy 4 years ago 7
Did you know that the "Smart" car when crashed, didn't have a crack in the windshield either? Maybe you need to watch some more crashes.

i like these cars(watch the crash test for your own car before you talk shit first).

What I find amusing are people who say crap about something that they obviously have no clue as to what it is they are criticizing.
From the video, this car did well for frontal offset collision.
If you want to see an example of HOW NOT to design a car, search for the crash test of the Landwind SUV on Youtube.

ya this car did not absorb any impact force, it all got transmitted to the dummy. but its better than what it replaced.

What are you talking about?
