  • This is actually a subliminal ad for Mapex Drum Set Thrones.

  • Mike Caswell is a superb player as well. Just sitting back and letting Guthrie do his thing is cool.

  • They should make a record together

  • Don't know about refreshing. I thought govan here played too many notes. I think govan is great but with this type of song less is more. My 2 cents. Technique was awesome though and as usual

  • @JohnInSoCal agreed..

  • this is an advanced form of trolling

  • you see Mr. Malmsteen, this is how you use your technique to actually play music, instead of what you do - i.e., endlessly jerking off the fretboard.

  • @LaMaisondeCasaHouse I wish people would stop bashing other musicians because they prefer one over another. Everyone has their own style that they enjoy, and that's up to them to decide.

  • @SirSpicyIII i wish people would get over the fact that opinions vary

  • @LaMaisondeCasaHouse That's exactly what I was saying. Why bring another musician into the comments of another's video just to bash him for playing his own style? I don't care for Malmsteen much either, but I don't go around criticizing completely out of context.

  • @SirSpicyIII everything is contextual with everything else :)

  • @SirSpicyIII I agree. Malmsteen's not a bad guitarist just because someone doesn't like his style. He's incredibly talented at playing his genre, and so is Guthrie, but neither of them are by any means bad guitarists just because one doesn't like their genre.

  • @DOWATTS Yes!

  • His music and feel is infinite wealth.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT A SURPRISE

  • pinch harmonic at 1:12 is money

  • @ 2:26 that was so fucking awesome!!!

  • what gage strings is he using cuz they sound like 10s but he makes it look like 9s

  • I'd give my left hand for his left hand!!

  • 0:44 The bend...

  • "the most refreshing"??? I thought great guitarists don't need that kind of silly advertisment, At least I am saying that these are the king of titles we see in the crapiest amateur guitarists on youtube!

I love Guthrie and I will continue to do so.... Just sayin' guys! Satriani or Hendrix never needed that kind od determination....the music spoke for itself!

    Cheers to all, peace!

  • Oooh that's a stone-cold groove.

  • After listening to Guthrie, I feel like a bumbling child rather than a musician.

  • Do you feel refreshed?

  • I could listen to Guthrie jam all day.

  • I'm gonna keep practicing!

  • awesome

  • gotta love the guy on rhythm guitar also.

  • He got all the talent that I was supposed to get. Therefore, I suck and he's really good.

  • that was fuckin soulful!

  • 2:25 is fucking sick

  • only took me three run throughs to realize there was another guitar player on the left!

  • This guy could have his own fucking religion!!! WTF?!?!? HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE JESUS!!! AND PLAYS LIKE EM'!!!

  • I think his talent is in that shirt. He always wear it.

  • when people say "synyster gates is the best ever!!!!!" what they're really trying to tell you is

    "i'm a trendy faggot"

  • I wish i could like this an infinite amount of times.

  • a friend of mine just said synyster gates is better than guthrie. i lolled.

  • @Djesssiee Those two do not ever belong in the same sentence lol

  • This guy inspired me to break my guitar and live in the woods as a troll

  • @ebos89 this is amusing

  • @ebos89

    fucking LOL !!!

  • @ebos89 Hahahaha Never heard something like that :D

  • @ebos89 You made my day :)

  • I think the "don't like" button should simply disappear in such great videos like that. How can you disagree? XD

  • heyyyy its that dude that did that badass review of the Tiny Terror playing rhythm... sweet.

  • Wooooooow de donde salio esta bestia !!

  • this was truly the most refreshing Guthrie jam. very talented guitarist i've never actually heard before (don't hate me for it). i like this very much

  • Literally EVERY single thing about this is perfect. His tone = fantastic.

    His technique = flawless.

    Overall musicality = amazing.

    Guthrie = Boss.

  • The speed of Paul Gilbert and the style of Duane Allman. Damn, this guy is amazing :O

  • who would dislike this?:L

  • who would dislike this?:L

  • who would dislike this?:L

  • who would dislike this?:L

  • what the actual fuck?

  • supercool .. man!! he's fluent

  • This guy inspires me to stop playing videogames and pick up my guitar more often, even though I won't be close to him anyway.

  • @mrbuddha2026 It that defeatists attitude that won't let you get close to him.

  • @MrAJSavage I don't think so. He is too good. But yeah, attitude helps ;) Cheers

  • @mrbuddha2026 Lol hypocrite much!? :p

  • @MrAJSavage No... 0.o What's with you?

  • @mrbuddha2026 No problem here, But the problem is. Do you think that people like Guthrie, Malmsteen and Vai etc. Sat around listening to there favourite artists thinking "Oh god he's too good, May as well give up. Im not going to get anywhere?"

I mean fair enough if its just a hobby, I have no problem with that. But all I'm saying is don't be that guy. Don't be that guy who gives up when they see someone like him playing. I feel empowered to play more when I see people like Guthrie.

  • @MrAJSavage Ohh ok :D I'm not giving up. I'm just accepting the true. To be someone like Guthrie one must be very devoted. I know I won't be as good as him because I'm not one of those persons that get deep into things. Who knows... Maybe those words you said will get to me and I may get deep into things and be one of those cool guitarrist. Thanks for the inspiring words mate :) BTW I'm really thanking you... I'm not one of those hipocrates bastards.

  • @mrbuddha2026 Devotion is not all. I mean you can be as devoted as you want but your talent is only going to take you so far. I know I can never be as good as someone like Guthrie, but that being said, I play my ass of to be the best guitarist I can possibly be.

  • @IkBobNiet Thanks for the inspiration! I started today practicing more seriously than usual by analizing my picking technique and some other stuff... I'll try to do my best and be the best I can possibly can ;)

  • @IkBobNiet I would have to say I only somewhat agree. The limits you have are the ones you put on yourself. Hard work can bring forth great things. You just limit yourself by saying I will never been as good as Guthrie.

  • @IkBobNiet Yeah I pretty much agree with you here, You need Passion, Devotion and Talent. 3 keys things I think you need to be good.

  • @mrbuddha2026 Cool, no worries.

  • @mrbuddha2026 lol thats exactly how i feel

  • @lantyboy696 I know. He is fuckin' awesome Hahaha

  • Could someone give the chords played in the back ?

    Thanks all !

  • What kind of geetar is that?

  • @fartstank03 guthries suhr signature model.

  • i listened to this more than a hundred times and it never gets less less awesome

    thx guthrie

  • well technically he's better than even Yngwie Malmsteen :s....

  • I don't think the rhythm's tone really matches the lead

  • I feel refreshed

  • fukin shit, how come i never heard of this guy before? I feel like when I play street fighter online and some crazy dude kicks my ass with awesome combos...

  • Alright, I don't want to play anymore!.. =P

  • impossibruuu! this smoothness kills me! :D

  • never heard of this dude before in my life.... but i was looking up guitar vids and it came up as recommened so i figured.... long hair, a pretty looking guitar, why not check it out... also because i had never heard of him i assumed he had talent (because hes not some loser pop star) got blown away... blew my load and said "holy shit" about 120 times... now if you'll excuse me im searching his name :)

  • @ABarbe89 Welcome to the Govan Fellowship! Your life will change in ways you never thought possible! ;)

  • @ABarbe89 Enjoy Guthrie... You may also like Alex Hutching and Larry Carlton as well if you enjoy Guthrie.

  • @ABarbe89 Yeah, Guthrie never ceases to amaze me. Just a perfect combo of taste and chops.

  • How could anyone not like this guy?

There are so many mindless shredders and here is a guy that can out shred most and still remain musical, Guthrie is the real deal.

  • @chocomalk HE IS JEDI!

  • This man has some of the most wonderful phrasing on the planet

  • Seen this vid so many times. Still as awesome as the first time I saw it <3

  • 00:38-00:39 wow

  • Man this is so frickin awesome!

  • pro!.. wish i could play like that:i

  • Rumors said Guthrie kicked Chuck Norris once... :)

  • god i cant stop listening to this

  • Comment removed

  • guys, please don't feed the trolls. Let them troll away.. i get way to many unnecessary notifications than i would like to.

  • @sowhat123 cry moar

  • Is this taken from a published song? Wanna know if I can download it :)

  • @soodlero all improv, dude.

  • Great playing...but horrible tone. Ugh...

  • @TruNikkas I believe it, my Nikka. He's still the number one player that makes me want to quit/practice. Sometimes Alex Hutchings throws out a lick like that too, but Guthrie is ALL licks that make me go "damn". It's awesome that he's become popular and, I hope, successful by talent alone in today's musical climate.

  • 1:56 fuckin beautiful. SHIT

  • Oooohhhhh that legato run starting at 38 seconds!!!!!!

  • What the fuck happened at 2:26?!

  • @kexmanable a miracle...

  • @kexmanable actually a crazy fast sweep/tap lick

  • @kexmanable that was tapping, clearly your mind couldnt comprehend the speed.

  • cmon man ive got a paper due 2marrow but i cant stop watchin him make sweet love to that guitar

  • crazy good phrasing

  • Guthrie is awesome...does anyone else notice, though, that his vibrato is a bit fast? I mean, it's all personal style, but compared to other highly skilled players his seems a bit more Hammett-like. (not good or bad, just different)

  • @JamesJLaRue

his vibrato varies on his mood. he has more awareness over his bends and vibrato than most can fathom

  • The greatests bends ever !!

  • £100 says Guthrie is a big Steely Dan fan.

  • What kind of scale he's using in the first second?? reminds me of jason becker's style

  • its sad when people don't understand the difference between art and religion :-(

  • Comment removed

  • i peed my pants a little at 1:59

  • The difference between Guthrie and God/Jesus is that Guthrie actually exists. The religious needed to make someone up that seemed perfect and could reach everyone without using words. Well, Guthrie Govan is that man.

  • 0:19 you can see both of them enjoying. and for me that's enough to be happy. such an ease and just.. playing.. that's cool, not some faggot bieber.

  • govan and vai should do a jam session.. two gods..... amazing

  • awesome, thanks for sharing

  • 2:03 - 2:09 Wow such nice bends!

  • I thought that was Paul Gilbert playing Rhythm at first. Probably better that those two people aren't in the same place at the same time. Likely some sort of Time/space shift would occur and destroy us all.

  • @jamo387 Yeah what a way to go though....

  • @jamo387 but it would be an amazing destruction..

  • 0:44 Gurthie Govan, the only person who can make a guitar say 'BOOM'

  • I wish I was good enough to play back-up for Guthrie Govan...

    :'(

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know if I've ever heard anyone who's got the microtonal bends down near as well as him. Makes that shit sing

  • fuck man..... i suck at guitar dude....

  • @BboyArmo perhaps you don't want to compare yourself to him. why being so pesimistic? I see him being too good and not me being bad. cheers ;)

  • refreshing? Its it supposed to be ice tea?

  • michael romeo is better ...

  • @ilovethewar1945 Michael Romeo is extremely good.....but no, I'm afraid he cannot do what Guthrie does.

  • @TheBanyanEmperor oh yes he can , twice as fast :)

  • @ilovethewar1945 not at writing and versatility. technically he probably is tough.

  • ... fuckin hell

  • how many of you would suck off gurthrie to play as well as him?

  • Every person has depth, you just have to find it. He, indeed, has found his depth

  • This guy's cerebellum is more finely tuned than many of us will ever know.

  • this seems like music youd hear hanging out with your friends after you die and everything is just overwhelmingly good.

  • great player with a lot of feeling and skill at the same time, but he does too many fast licks in this. I am aware of the fact that he was pretty much improvising on this and that I probably wouldn't do so as good as he does, but too many fast licks takes the effect away from them, and then they just seem like filler; Playing 2 arpeggios in a solo make them moments, playing 4 or 5 arpeggios make them filler

  • I was totally stunned by his precision and he improvised like he'd actually practiced the pieces, but at the same time you can actually tell he is improvising. I kept feeling inspired. Thanks for bringing me to this video, youtube. The best thing I learnt these days is the name of this guitarist.

  • Am I losing my mind, or did Guthrie hit a couple of sour notes in that chromatic run at around 00:15 ~ish. Then him and the other guy looked at each other for a brief moment, like "Yup, ya dun goofed bro. It's ok though".

  • best moment => 00:57

  • i'm not even able to play like him when i'm dreaming.

    i swear.

  • I haven't listened to Guthrie in what feels like a month or so, and now I remembered what my ears have been missing.

  • Absolutely fantastically melodic beauty

  • liquid hands

  • Just got the sickest nerd boner from watching this.. No homo

  • @sportsportsport you are so fucking stupid.

  • pretty good, no lie

  • The backing guitarist needs to learn how to take a back seat so we can hear guthrie. I came here for him, not some random playing hamfistedly with a 2mm pick

  • @ChegzGT1EB If I'm not much mistaken, the chap playing rhythm here is Dave Kilminster. Which leaves me wondering, who the fuck are you?! Back in the world of sensible, Guthrie's playing is magnificient!

  • @Tapiola2007

Is it customary of you to question the identity of any of the millions of youtube viewers who voice a comment that you dissagree with? I couldn't care less if the man was Santa Claus, it's simply my opinion that his rhythm playing often overpowered Guthries playing, which is what i came here for. The world of the sensible is one where a grown up can voice an opinon without sensetive people like yourself being offended by it. Maybe youtube isn't the place for you.

  • @ChegzGT1EB sorry, was there someone else playing?

  • don't compare jesus to Guthrie.i mean he's good, but Guthrie is far better...

  • @dontdissheavymetal classic john petrucci comment

  • @dontdissheavymetal your a stupidass and ive seen unoriginal comments like this on like every other video. make something funny up by yourself and stop being an asshole taking other peoples overused jokes. fuck you

  • @BigDempey I REGRET NOTHING!!1!

  • @dontdissheavymetal Right onn

  • if there is a tab for this song... im playing the strumming part.. XD

  • better than pepsi

  • Heck why listen top Bach when you can listen to widdly diddly real fast lol

  • 2:26 god finger engage

  • i remember the first time when i listen him, just still feeling that

  • DISLIKE BAR ITS JUST LIKE LADY GAGAS PENIS,IS THERE,BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE

  • @bumbar144

    NO.

  • How in the world does he follow the other guitarist so well. He never played a note or phrase that didn't work almost perfectly

  • probably a good idea to end this vid there before Guthrie's mate got any louder!!

  • by far my favorite guitarist

  • he still amazing year after year !!

    <
