@sk8shop13 Yeah, well sometime during Street Fighter Alpha, the story of how Ryu scarred Sagat was retconned, so it'd fit with the Alpha storyline. The two fought well, but Sagat just outmatched Ryu. But Ryu refused to accept defeat, and for one instant, 'Evil' Ryu awakened and hit Sagat with a Metsu Shoryuken. But this was the ONLY time we ever actually saw 'Evil' Ryu in the Street Fighter storyline, canon-wise.

the difference is in the location. gouki is his name in japan, and akuma is his name in other places. i think thats why gouken might also be known as sheng long

Man, I think people are taking the moves a little too literal. You would have had to make a separate version of each character in order to omit certain moves. The fights are more entertaining with the characters just having them. Plus it was have been far more tedious to make a whole new character build just to remove certain attacks. Why complain about it instead of understanding the overall goal and the tedium of remaking every character.

Why didn't you do a real Metsu Shoryuken. It's an actual super combo, same command input as Shin Shoryuken, also has to be with all 3 super meter levels filled up, but has to be done on close range.

That is how stories and leyends begin pal. It is true that there was no story, but when the characters (wich became popular after SFII) started being developed and the stories (some of wich where mere gossip to explain the games plot) got connected SF got it´s story line (wich is even better than what was expected). To be honest I think it made SF even better.

Thanks to SF4, Gouken didn't die. The fight with Akuma left him unconcious for several years (leaving Ken and later Ryu to presume he's dead).

Death retcons nearly always suck because they cheapen the idea of death. Instead of thinkin "noooo he/she died" you start thinking "eh, the creators will pull some story out of their ass to keep them alive"

It wouldn't be so bad if Capcom hadn't long ago said explicitly "Akuma killed Gouken" and instead left it vague (like Rose, Gen, and Adon's fates after SFA3).

I like Gouken and am happy to finally play him, but I just don't like death retcons.

Shin Akuma originates from SFA2. It's Akuma using his full power. In the SF storyline, Shin Akuma has nothing to do with the orochi stuff.

That's a different form of Shin Akuma, which should actually be called "God Akuma" since the Shin kanji (神) in CvS stands for 'God', while the Shin kanji (真) in Alpha stands for 'True'.

This mugen version in the video is based in the cvs version of Akuma for gameplay purposes, that's the reason of the red mist, but it's meant to represent the Alpha series Shin Akuma.

Akuma IS in the Alpha series as both, regular AND Shin Akuma.

It's the part of the story that isn't explained in the games dialogues. The animated movie isn't canon, but back then the official story was that Ryu defeated Sagat fair and square. It was retconed when Capcom released SFA2 for storyline purposes.

I actually like this version better because it makes the story of Ryu and Sagat more interesting and also shows the writters aren's so up the main character's ass that they would make him boringly pwn all bosses no matter what.

Capcom upper brass is in talks with each other about changing Sagat's defeat to it's original state since it's started a lot of complaining from fans. Also, Sagat developed the Tiger Uppercut after his defeat because he needed a move that can beat the Sho Ryu Ken.
