@themunz126 That would be beautiful, in all seriousness, and wonderfully off the wall. :) I'm sorry to be nihilistic, but I don't believe anything can ever be truly objective, as reality is something we perceive and therefore there is no absolute truth. Believing that, as lovely as it sounds, is just a tad naive. What we have to do is analyze the so called "news" and decide for ourselves what we want to think and who we want to be. Rachel is only human, and that's exactly what she does.

@Lenora1854 Well that is what the idea of freedom of the press was all about. So that they could report on what politicians were doing. I expect some slant, but it has gotten ridiculous to the point that journalism is dead. It has become less about the news and more about convincing people to see your side of a political argument. In the case of Maddows, she is using her gestures to even further elevate her points. I guess her arguments aren't good enough, she has to make gestures too.

@themunz126 I don't care what politicians are doing. Never have understood why I should care who's in the White House or any of that jazz.

I don't even care if it affects my life. I don't really see how it affects my life and there's nothing I can do to change that sort of stuff. What, vote in someone else? Why? It's boring. TV is more interesting and entertaining, and valuable.

I actually find some of the worst TV channels to be more valuable than virtually anything in politics.

@1loveshop But it does greatly influence all that you do. All that you can do and what you will be able to do. Although politics may not be as "entertaining" as TV, it is more important to your health, education and welfare and that of your family and children.

Seems to me after viewing more media from the world that Fox is actually more realistic and they do offer opposing views unlike Olberman, Matthews and Maddows.

I prefer to check independent sources and then look at who is spinning. MSNBC is a bunch of people showing the world as they want, not as it is.

Fox does have opposing viewpoints on but they ridicule, harrass & insult those who present those opposing viewpoints.

Maddow has made it known she wishes more Republicans etc would come on her show but they seem unwilling.

Fox also present their viewpoint, their ideology as fact, which are then shown to be wrong. It's also been admitted that the Bush administration used FN to get their message out.

You can watch and do what you wish but I just don't see the use or need for this video.

Why should I worry about Fox news? Why should I worry about any of them since I refuse to watch any of them. I know what they are all doing, im just pointing it out for people who can't realize it. She is touted as a political analyst. Watching the clip, she looks very professional.

If you are really worried how people percieve what they are told as news or facts, then that's where you should start ... especially as FN recieves a much bigger audience. So perhaps those are the people that need illucidating!

People who watch Maddow know what to expect and they know they will be informed and entertained.

Her show is one of news commentary, not of reporting. The show gets it's information from news sources (such as reporters) and Maddow then commentates with her viewpoint on those issues.

RM does not pretend to be a reporter and I believe the majority of her audience know this.

While she does get info from news sources, like Matthews and Olberman their views are often treated as reporting by many who watch them and accept it as fact. They have a duty IMO with that type of following not to use these types of tactics. Many forget that this is commentary.

Maddow has presented herself the same way for many years, on radio and then TV. It's always been clear that she is discussing politics and news in the way she percieves it.

If you go to her MSNBC web page it even says 'Watch Maddows smart look at politics and the day's top stories.'

Her programme presents facts as she interprets them.

I think you should worry more about Fox News!

its not her job to be a reporter, she is a commentator. more specifically a liberal commentator. (which, btw is no secret, as she consistently points it out during her shows)

i wouldn't regard myself as a liberal but i respect rachel for her work. she obviously fact checks meticulously, and i like her self deprecating humor.
