I wish she would come out and admit that she is actually straight. I suppose to get a job with MSNBC she had to claim to be gay. Still all of these lies about being gay must be a terrible stain on her.
@themunz126 Aw, that's kind of silly, though. As adorable as she may be, I'm still far more interested in her intelligence than her manner of gesticulation. But I'll be the first to admit she gesticulates sexii.
Plus, honey, this is MSNBC. It's for liberals. Like, the left. You know?
@Lenora1854 Well, maybe media should be what it is supposed to be. The watch dogs of the government, not the lap dogs. There shouldn't be liberal or conservative media. How about .. I know this is off the wall .. but how about Honest reporting from reporters?
@themunz126 That would be beautiful, in all seriousness, and wonderfully off the wall. :) I'm sorry to be nihilistic, but I don't believe anything can ever be truly objective, as reality is something we perceive and therefore there is no absolute truth. Believing that, as lovely as it sounds, is just a tad naive. What we have to do is analyze the so called "news" and decide for ourselves what we want to think and who we want to be. Rachel is only human, and that's exactly what she does.
@Lenora1854 Well that is what the idea of freedom of the press was all about. So that they could report on what politicians were doing. I expect some slant, but it has gotten ridiculous to the point that journalism is dead. It has become less about the news and more about convincing people to see your side of a political argument. In the case of Maddows, she is using her gestures to even further elevate her points. I guess her arguments aren't good enough, she has to make gestures too.
@themunz126 I don't care what politicians are doing. Never have understood why I should care who's in the White House or any of that jazz.
I don't even care if it affects my life. I don't really see how it affects my life and there's nothing I can do to change that sort of stuff. What, vote in someone else? Why? It's boring. TV is more interesting and entertaining, and valuable.
I actually find some of the worst TV channels to be more valuable than virtually anything in politics.
@1loveshop But it does greatly influence all that you do. All that you can do and what you will be able to do. Although politics may not be as "entertaining" as TV, it is more important to your health, education and welfare and that of your family and children.
Rachel Maddow is an Oxford educated Rhodes Scholar (take note Christine O'Donnell) who has her pulse on what is right in American politics. Her nightly show contains the most well researched information I've ever seen or heard. The difference between the accuracy of her programme and the low brow, muck raking rubbish on the Fox Network is in a word QUALITY. Rachel cares about her audience enough to ensure that she delivers only the best in television journalism. Rachel is an American treasure.
Seems to me after viewing more media from the world that Fox is actually more realistic and they do offer opposing views unlike Olberman, Matthews and Maddows.
I prefer to check independent sources and then look at who is spinning. MSNBC is a bunch of people showing the world as they want, not as it is.
Fox does have opposing viewpoints on but they ridicule, harrass & insult those who present those opposing viewpoints.
Maddow has made it known she wishes more Republicans etc would come on her show but they seem unwilling.
Fox also present their viewpoint, their ideology as fact, which are then shown to be wrong. It's also been admitted that the Bush administration used FN to get their message out.
You can watch and do what you wish but I just don't see the use or need for this video.
langsense, Obama said that in the recent press dinner. It was supposed to be a joke. It wasn't funny and no one there seemed to think it was, either; just the truth.
Why should I worry about Fox news? Why should I worry about any of them since I refuse to watch any of them. I know what they are all doing, im just pointing it out for people who can't realize it. She is touted as a political analyst. Watching the clip, she looks very professional.
Because Fox News present a right wing diatribe as news... factual news and also purport to be impartial!
If you are really worried how people percieve what they are told as news or facts, then that's where you should start ... especially as FN recieves a much bigger audience. So perhaps those are the people that need illucidating!
People who watch Maddow know what to expect and they know they will be informed and entertained.
Actually, you're showing an edited clip to show people what you think about Rachel Maddow.
Her show is one of news commentary, not of reporting. The show gets it's information from news sources (such as reporters) and Maddow then commentates with her viewpoint on those issues.
RM does not pretend to be a reporter and I believe the majority of her audience know this.
While she does get info from news sources, like Matthews and Olberman their views are often treated as reporting by many who watch them and accept it as fact. They have a duty IMO with that type of following not to use these types of tactics. Many forget that this is commentary.
Maddow has presented herself the same way for many years, on radio and then TV. It's always been clear that she is discussing politics and news in the way she percieves it.
If you go to her MSNBC web page it even says 'Watch Maddows smart look at politics and the day's top stories.'
Her programme presents facts as she interprets them.
its not her job to be a reporter, she is a commentator. more specifically a liberal commentator. (which, btw is no secret, as she consistently points it out during her shows)
i wouldn't regard myself as a liberal but i respect rachel for her work. she obviously fact checks meticulously, and i like her self deprecating humor.
if you added the sound and istened you would see she was reacting to what was being said versus guiding others. maybe you removing the sound after the fact is you guiding others to believe your point... btw... shes not a reporter...
but again, she is not a reporter, she is a commentator. she is allowed to give her opinion. Where does it say rachel Maddow NEWS Show? And again she is not being subliminal, she is being very obvious about her reaction to a very funny and VERY stupid speach. she is reacting no differently then I would if I was showing a friend a very stupid youtube video.
BTW if you are watching a commentator like Rachel or Oreilly, you probably already agree with their opinion so there is no need to try to subliminally make people believe the way they do because you already do.
the point is, she is accepted by a lot of people as a "news" source. This is nothing but a demonstration of her attempts at swaying audiences to her view, making anyone who disagrees with her appear "crazy"
Lots consider Oprah & Dr. Phil news sources Thats says more about them then the source lol
listen to the content of the speach she was mocking. Its pretty clear it was ment as a light hearted ribbing of a clearly rediculous speach. Why are you making such a big deal out of this & atempting to distort the meaning? She was very obvious about her intent and did nothing subliminal. She is also NOT a reporter so doesn't need to maintain impartiality. BTW "guy makes dumb speach" not a "NEWS" item
adjective Psychology. existing or operating below the threshold of consciousness; being or employing stimuli insufficiently intense to produce a discrete sensation but often being or designed to be intense enough to influence the mental processes or the behavior of the individual
shes being highly "bliminal" in this video. you are either too stuborn to see the facts or are just a hater. either way I'm done
I think she is gorgeous - shame about the whole lesbian thing.

The same things you said about Fox can easily be said about MSNBC. Obama just said he was in Bed with MSNBC and ABC news.
Like i said, it seems that her antics are more profound which is the rason for this

Profound, in what way?
Could you point me in the direction of Obama saying the above, I haven't seen or read it. Thanks.

Maddow "informs and entertains?" Makes one nauseous is more like it.

well, the easy answer to that is do not watch her show.

@deabrat She's actually good friends with someone at the John Birch Society. I saw a video on YouTube where she was quite friendly with them.
Not that I expect you to see or reply to comment since you left it two years ago.

Well you removed the sound, she's reacting to one of Michael's Steele's speeches where's he's talking to some college kids about "hats"

That was the point of removing the sound.
I am well aware of what she was commenting on

theres no point pointing out facts or using logic on this person. lol look at our discusion ;)

I do not think this is reporting in any way shape or form.

Here is the point. Reporters do not create the "antics" that she did. She holds a prime time slot for "NEWS".
I guide no one, just showing what she is doing subliminally to make people believe the way she does.
