Read "Dissolving Pain: Simple Brain Training Exercises for Overcoming Chronic Pain". Les Fehmi developed the Open Focus Attention theory. The book comes with a CD with guided "exercises" that are designed to shift your attention. He won't call them meditations, but that is essentially what they are. They give your brain and body a rest. There's an article on Health.com on April 5, 2011 about how a "focused attention" type of meditation reduces pain.
OMG! I'm cured of my back pain!!! After all this time all I had to do was watch this crap video and stare at the pompous pustule of a man tell me that it wasn't the inflammation, but rather my brain causing the pain! What a genius!
This isn't new, martial artists have been doing this for centuries. You stand in a painful posture and think of nothing, the mind is yours to control else it is you who are controlled by it's instincts. It really is as simple as practicing.
i taught a healing school a long time ago for a few years. tms doesn't apply 100% to all people. but for most it is an element to the recovery. just one single treatment plan will not yield a 100% cure. so whether you are 90% tms or 10% tms. the system works at that level and relieves that much pain for that level. i'd suggest you first start with tms treatments because they are the most benign. and if you disbelieve tms explain how gurus shut off pain completely in their mind.
@whitebluebug You didn't listen to me or my story. Powerful opiates work for me, but only to manage, not "get rid" of pain. Yoga, meditation, and biofeedback help me tremendously, but do not "get rid" of pain.
I am sorry you talked to (at) me, too. Try listening next time.
I've lived with severe chronic myofacial pain for 26 years due to infections & surgery in my youth. First thing I did was drop out and study yoga/meditation arts, exercise, and healthy diet, all of which helped CONTROL, but not eliminate the pain. After 13 years I had to go to a pain mgt clinic and it took large doses of prescription narcotics just to begin to give relief. My point? Brain train for pain is only partly effective. I was never able to return to my career track and my life sucks.
Please look up Dr. John E. Sarno or Monte Hueftle and get their books. Thousands of people got rid of their pain just by reading these two guys's work.
Sarno... oh great! another theory claiming pain is psychosomatic! The world is full of assholes telling me for the last 40 years that my pain is psychosomatic. Do me a favor: stick an icepick in your ear, leave it there for 40 years, and use Sarno's techniques to get rid of the pain. Asshole.
did it occur to you that I didn't come here out of boredom but because I know chronic pain first hand? Icepick and all? And because I got rid of it and tried to help. I wished you good luck and you called me an asshole.
Keep your anger and your icepick for as long as you want to.
Did it occur to you that I began using biofeedback, yoga and meditation back in the 70's, which helps but does not eliminate pain? Did you identify yourself as a pain patient? Did it occur to you ask about my case before offering advice? No. You sent me a blanket comment saying Sarno's book helped thousands "get rid of pain." Get rid means zero pain. If Sarno got ur pain to zero, no one's more glad than I. My case is not that simple. If I want your advice, I'll ask for it.
@whitebluebug "You can obtain zero pain but..." You do NOT know what you're talking about in my case. Are you a medical professional? What's your fucking story? How DARE you assume what will or will not work for me! You promote Sarno, fine: I have no problem with you posting your comments at this page, just don't direct them to me like you know what will work for me. This is so typical of utube and the email sound bite generation.
Everone should read THE MIND BODY PRESCRIPTION by DR John Sarno. It talks about how the brain creates physical pain to distract us from emotional issues in our lives. It helps when you understand whats going on in you brain and body.
sorry but this scares me!!! "in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until..." more "in 1908 a lady named sally rusa was in the woods looking for a dog until a ghost came and killed her so if ur reading this u will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck
if realy its true in my opinion because when some thing hurts and you think about it it never seems to go away and when you turn your attention to some thing els to other thoughts the pain disapears and the moment that you remember some thing was bothering you it comes back. ever gone through that ?
"Spirits" and "Souls" and such rubbish are consepts that were invented by ancient and totally ignorant people. Today we know that our consciousness is biochemistry in the brain, no magic "spirit" or "soul", thanks to modern neuroscience. Isn't science great? Without science we'd still be stuck in the dark-ages and everybody would still be superstitious/religious, so it's great we got science!
So you would call this a bright age? You gotta be kidding me. Try to watch your thoughts, who's the watcher? Who are you? You think you have it all figured out don't you? Your comment isn't ignorant at all right?:D:D:D
did the do a controlled experiment on it? did they show the people pictures of fake brains or someone elses brain to see if it is just a placebo...if i thought i could control pain id probably feel less pain too
loneus>>>Absolutely you can control pain with your brain. How else do you explain the placebo effect?? You just have to learn to harness that power. its a type of biofeedback.

that's about like saying if you wish hard enough the pain will just go away

Well, you were whining on fucking youtube of all places so if somebody responds and is being nice, you don't need to go ape shit on them.
Yes you can achieve zero pain but not in your toxic state of mind. I truly pity you in my unsolicited way.
