  • no British, Israeli and Iranian

  • the british are awsome they inventid the tank

  • Than you really don't know much about tanks. This is the British Chieftain tank, the successor of their Centurion tank and the predecessor of the Challenger 1.

  • I seem to remember that the Chieftains were built by Vickers in a factory that was about a mile long(!). Bolshie unions were conspicuous by their absence in this case.

Bovington is fantastic - I did a work placement there in 1993. It is also excellent for the T E Lawrence exhibition.

  • All jokin' aside, much respect to the British soldiers out there. You boys are real pros!

  • Weren't these tanks built by Leyland? I'm surprised anyone could keep them running, or, that they ever got built at all. Guess the constant strikes didn't effect military production.

  • the first engines were the leyland L60 thats why leyland is popping into your mind, but they got upgraded and were then more reliable.

  • takes me back to my days in 1 RTR.

  • wow.. hope the tank crews got ear protection. a roaring tank indeed!
