@hunter1411900. Sir you are 100% correct! I have a truck, and I do fly both flags so I don't know if you saw me or someone else but any ways. I fly the flag because it shows I do not agree with the Govt. I was in the Navy for 5 years in Tenn. My Navy base flew both flag on their flags poles. I don't know if this is true or not but I read some where that the Confederate flag (red with the blue cross and stars) was a Navy flag. Is that right? Plus a black friend has a confederate tattoo (chest)
The rebal flag was created and used for battle against the union forces from 1861-1865. The flag was and still is used by the KKK. It also means something completely diffrent to many white none racist southerners and black southerners, To them it represents the heritage of our people and to honor the fallen patriot Confederates. If you would read true history you would know that the southern states had the right to secede from the union and did so legally. H istory in written by the victors
To me the flag does not mean racism. Unfortunately some idiots adopted the flag and wave it under their racist causes, but we see them waving the American flag at the same time (as stated in this video), but nobody says the American Flag is racist. To me the Confederate Battle Flag is a symbol that can be used by anybody that wants to overcome persecution. The Flag was only used for 3 out of the 5yrs of the civil war and Slavery existed under the American Flag for almost 70 years.
Smileyousee...THANK YOU!!! It is refreshing to see a dialoge on the Confederate Flag initiated in a sensible and non-judgemental manner. Most people ask this question while stating their own views on the flag. You truly asked for an open and honest discussion and I commend you for the manner that your question was posed. Now my response..the more that the Confederate flag can be displayed away from racists and hate-mongerers, the sooner that it can be accepted for it's true meaning.
I am southern and the confederet flag is a simbol of freedom and hereitege and no one can take that away y'all just hateing ob us cause we are awesome
the confederate flag never flow over any slave ship, but he american flag did; please watch the movie GLORY; it is a great movie showing brave soldiers who died fighting for freedom, but they were march into certain death in a segregated army.....the confederate army was not segregated and over 60,000 black soldiers fought along side their white counter parts; i am not defending slavery but the north was in control of the south for 12 yrs and that is when segregatation was started in the south
the flag means heritage to me. lincoln was racist as hell. i am not, i have had a black, and a asian girlfrind.. No slaves were brought to this country under the rebel flag! but the us flag DID
to hell with thhe yankees!for a HUNDRED YEARS SLAVES CAME TO THIS COUNTRY UNDER THE us FLAG.
The south lost, get over it. Does the north wave a flag everywhere they go? naw... i didnt think so. its cool to have pride but u still lost..... in a crippling fashion.
The Condeferate flag represents the struggle of the right of the states vs. an opressve federal government. Remember, slavery flouished for almost 100 years under an American flag.
which confederate flag there is the 1-3 nationals the bonnie blue the square battle flag and the navy jack which is the one the kkk and redneck display. to me it is not racist becouse alot more people had slaves in the north than in the south becouse only 4% had slaves in the south and i bet y'all dont know that robert e lee was an abolitionist and grant owned slaves and wouldn't give them up until FORCED TO. have a nice day
The war was not over slavery is the first thing to understand. In fact, only 6% of southerners owned slaves. In Lincoln's own words in a letter he sent to New York Tribune editor Horace Greenely 1862:
"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union and is neither to save or destroy slavery..."
Here Lincoln contradicts himself cause he claimed in his first inaugural address that he had no constitutional rights to disturb the matter.
I beleive the Confederate flag represents the struggle of states' rights against an oppressive federal government. Let's not forget that the Civil War was not just about slavery. Remember, slavery flourished for over 100 years under an American flag.
what it meant at the time it was traditionally flown is irrelevant. Just like the meaning of the word nigger has changed, the meaning of the flag has changed based on the ideals of those who fly it today, and their perceptions of how people view it. That is the nature of expression. when people express themselves using the confederate flag, most of them are well aware of the racial association made by MOST minorities, thus we can infer this is the appeal to MOST of the people who fly it.
A flag is merely a symbol. Then it was for a proposed nation, today it is a mean by which people seek to express their individualism. You can make claims of what it means to you, but it means different things to different people, (example: the kkk). Its "heritage" in your eyes does not inevitably define its true meaning. You may feel some are ignorant in terms of its meanings to you, but do not let that flaw your sensitivity to the flag's meaning to others, for that is a far greater ignorance
To me it represents the Bible Belt. The stars are the same 13 states that are abt. 80% Christian. The North on the other hand is abt. 40%. The "X" represents the cross of Saint Andrew (Jesus' disciple). I fly my "Southern Cross" beside my Christian Flag. Lincoln said he couldn't let the South go in peace cuz they paid 80% of US taxes. Only 4% of southerners had slaves. The other 96% were just defending their homes. When the North won they could decide what was put in our textbooks. PS: Yer Sexy
and id take my shotgun and kill your ass. The flag does not have any KKK on it and it was our flag during the war. we went to war because of the Gov not slave you dumb ass. dont go saying shit if you dont know what your talking about.
The flag of which you speak in its many forms symbolizes my heritage: Cpt Carey F Grimes, Portsmouth light Artillery, CSA, KIA Sharpsburg 17 Sep 1862, his brother G.W.Grimes Lt. 17th north carolina , CSA, and Cpt John Allen Lovett, CSN, served aboard the CSS Partrick Henry after resigning his commission in the USNavy.
My ancestors fought for their land, their rights, their families, their honor and the great glorious state of Virginia.
I want to personally thank your family for their sacrifice to the cause. Many folk in america will soon realize how important States Rights was, and how the lose of the 2nd War of Independence & the victory of Empire will impact there lives in this century.
I would like to personally thank your family for their sacrifice to the Cause. Folks in the U.S will soon understand just how important the loss of the 2nd War of Independence was to their lives today.
I am a Southern Ohio Boy from the foot Hills. Many here see the flag as a symbol of States Rights, the founding father's principles, and fallen heroes like the nearly 5,000 Ohioans (including 6 Generals) who fought for the South, & the many free Black Confederates aswell. Not many know the man who wrote "Dixie" was from Ohio. And may i say your almost as sexy as those stars and bars! You should look up the Black Neo-Confederate movement, and read Black Confederates it's a great book.
Here is something that the political left never talks about is how the slave trade was 90% fueled by africans and arabs and over 2,000 blacks in america owned slaves themselves infact a book was written about it called black slaveholders.
u lot should leave them southerns and let them fly there flag what the fuck is your lots problem get over it and move on in my country ive got Islam crazy fuckers preaching on my streets so i ant trying to hear this
TO me it symbolizes that what my ancestors fought, and that it is now a life blood for me. The education we get, and Uncle Sams turning the NAACP of its leash is merely attempt at taking down the cultural symbols, and trying to make us live, and think like them. Ill never do it. Id rather die than think like them.
the confederate flag stands for heritage and people giving there life for a cause, to protect their homeland. The civil war is one of the most misunderstood wars ever. it was not over slavery. it was over state rights and not letting the government control the way we live. im a proud descendant of General Robert E. Lee and i say that with honor
the confederate flag symbolizes the refusal to submit to the demands of a tyrannic government. the untold reason for the civil war and the Souths succession is Lincolns morill tariff which raised the taxes in the south to unrealistic and unnecessary levels. The south refused to pay these taxes and executed there right of succession and lincoln collected his taxes the only way he could...by gun point, it symbolizes freedom from a tyrannical government.. sic semper tyrannis
Alright, I am a Northerner, i come from minnesota. I'd like to state that first.
Second, I believe the Rebel flag is a sign of Southern pride and Heritage. yes, it was flown during the times of slavery, but it NEVER symbolized racism. the thirteen stars across it represent the Thirteen original colonies of the United states, which was originally the south during the 1800's.
first off the confederate flag we know of was a battle flag, the civil war was not over slavery but recession to break away from the union for no profit of the cash crops the southern states were growing.the northern states were the states that captured africans and shiped them to the southern states so do not blame the south.all in all no one would want to live in africa anyways
in your vid the confedrate flag theres a diffrence im southern so the battle flag means the blood that southern sheded for the south and the 3rd flag means heratige and thats bout it BUT SOME ASS HOLES TAKE THE FLAG AS RASEIM AND THAT PISSES ME OFF TALKIN BOUT IT THEY MISSTREAT THE FLAG AND I FUCKIN WANT TO KILL THEM nuff said
In my opinion the Confederate Flag was not a symbolism for slavery or any of that. Yes it is apart of history. The flag never stood for slavery. the south used it because they wanted a nation of their own they never did say it was for slavery it was a symbol to let everyone know the south was independent and didn't need the union in fact Lincoln said that if it ment perserving the union he would keep slavery but he had to do what he had to do and free the slaves to preserve the union.
Another thought... if a flag can stand for racism then shouldnt the american flag stand for racism and slavery also, the USA had slavery from 1776 to 1860 also. So wouldnt that mean that Old glory stands for it also?
To me when I see the rebel flag it stands for an individuals rights to be free, free to do what you want without being told how to live, how to talk, how to think or how to act. It stands for the little man the underdog, all the people who have ever been picked on run down smacked around or just bullied. As simple as I can put it, it stands for freedom, regardless of color. Heritage,Liberty, Freedom
when i look at a Confederate flag i dont think about the war or the black people to me its a sign of the south and thats the only thing we have left to show that were from the south and that flag shows are 13 states so yeah its means the world to me.
To me it means my heritage Its means the Ideals of the right of states. To form unions and disband the union. It represents Thomas Jefferson belief in the peoples right to form a government that best suits their safty and Happiness. Its beautifull and it makes me warm and happy. God Bless you Smileyousee I pray that all the southern people no matter ethnicity or creed will unite for a return to a Southern nation.
my heritage is Phillipeno(im like almost albino not realy but still its funny)american And Southern my ancestor fought for LAND not slaves im aint no racist to me its a sign that the i still have my own freedom my bestest friends are Black and the know i fly it high
Personally, I am from the South and I am a supporter of this flag. I think through the years it has been misused. I don't agree that anyone should be offended by this, unless it is being wrongly used. I can see how it could be offensive if a radical racist group marches with it. Most of these groups also use the American flag too. Anything done to cause fear and harm is WRONG!!! But, I can't get mad at a Mexican for supporting the Mexican Flag.
1st of all , what a great demeanor you have . You are very lovely as well. The Battle Flag of Northern Va has been used by many racist and therefore it has an unfair stigma with it. That cant be helped but history tells us that blacks, whites, Indians, and Jews fought for Dixie under that same Battle Flag. So its the kkkand neo's are truly ignorant. There are racist today using it too, but the kkk for instance also uses the cross and the us flag. So screw them. I am Southern and that is my flag
the song amazing grace was wrote by a white slave runner, that history.....so, is it less or more powerfull to you now, what ya think....a song that has so much meaning to slaves was written by a slave runner....history is less or more now...
the song amazing grace was wrighten by a white slave runner...that is history, does it make the song less or more powerfull to you...you tell, what ya think, its ironic
England and France out of the war against the north. both countries hated the norht because they got there cotton and tobacoo from the south and saw a greater tax if the notrh would have won. the war. there were blacks jews and many other races that fought for the south GOD bles the CSA!!!
thx 777Yonatan. the thing is that jefferson davis actually had a son that was black and he lived with him in the confederate white house. jefferson davis was going to give more freedoms then that tyrant abe lincoln was going to give to blacks after the war. the only reason abe lincoln made the 14th admenmanent was to keep
to me the flag represents history. im a reenactor, so i have carried a confederate flag (not the one you guys are used to seeing, a regimental flag that looks unique) into a battle reenactment. it's about racism if you know nothing about the civil war and are just trying to show how much of a redneck you are. it's about pride and fighting for states rights if you are doing it for the sake of the Confederacy. some blacks even died for that flag i would assume as there were black confederates.
We all talk about how free of racism the northerners were. Was it not Abe Lincoln who said blacks are less human and inferior to whites and should have no power in government and should be shipped back to Africa? Jefferson Davis had more love for the black people around him , even giving them money and land than the bigot Abe Lincoln did.
Long live the south.. Many JEws and Blacks fought in the Confederacy! THe liberals up north are trying to turn America into a communist, socialist dictatorship were foreigners and others who hate the freedoms our fore-fathers died for will rule the country and destroy our economy and our heritage.
I am Jewish and proud to align myself with confederacy. The Confederacy will be the only thing that saves our nation now. Christian, Jewish, White, Black all must unite to fight!
i fly many confederate flags. i am not, in the least bit, racist. i have african american friends. i fly it as a symbol of rebellion to what i view as the oppresive U.S. government, and what i hope will one day be a peacefull seccession of southern states for the new south for all gods children. i also fly them to honor my ancestor who was a confederate soldier. have a good day. thank you for listening.
To me that flag represents pride. Pride in where my family came from, pride in the brave men who fought for what they believed in and against the oppressive North, and pride in the Spirit of Dixie. I wasn't born in the south but my family was. It is easy for people to, like the sheeps they are, believe anything the media feeds them. I just wish people (especially here on Youtube) would read some unbiased history on the South. God save the Confederacy of States.
To me its a symbol of what we have moved past. Hate! The south lost the war and the right to fly that god forsaken flag! If your heritage is about hate and slavery then why remember it, unless you wanna remember wrongness!
The unions interests where not to free slaves, just remember that. It's easy to see your point of view, obviously that is the view by most who know nothing of the Union during the time, and never read. You can talk this and that about the southern states during the time, but ask these people any questions about the main interests of the union, they say to free slaves...that was not the case at all, and thats all they know, which means, they know nothing.
For me, how I feel about it depends on what part of Southern culture I associate with it. I feel very sentimental when I think of the beauty, reverence and tender kindness of the south and its people. It is sickening and devisive when I think of slavery, torn families, and the terror of the brutal Klan. These feelings may never resolve for me. Maybe they shouldn't.
Those who even bring racism into a conversation on the subject of the Confederate flag are showing blatent ignorance.
The flag was created to symbolize the south as a whole, such as each U.S. State has their own flag, to symbolize it as a whole. The flag does not symbolize slavery, racism, any of that bad stuff. It symbolized more along the lines of a piece of land, the South, not individual people or thoughts.
People really need to research before they even bring up such ideas.
fuck you airsoft231 the rebel flag is a symbol of southern i have african american friends who fly it in there yards and it disgusts me that these hate groups stole it i agree fuck nazi and the klan i hope they burn in the deepest sections of hell
Nice video and good question: Thank you for asking that question. Well first of all, every Flag on the planet (probably) was flown over individual nations in times of their histories when man's inhumanity to man abounded. We just haven't always been nice to each other. 2nd of all, and more to the point, the CSA flag is no more racist than the USA flag (see scene of 1960's caucasian BOSTON male spearing an African-American with a USA Flag. Bad people use Nat'l symbols for bad purposes TBC
Smiley , the confederate battle flag to me is my Heritage in which I am Proud of . I hate the Flag has become synonymus with racist groups and is offensive to some people. I believe if people would take the time to honestly research there lineage and heritage they would change there views. Never forget that History is always written by the Victor.
It is sad that the Battle Flag has become synonymus with white Supremacist groups. My ancestors arrived in this country 400 years ago and were from English and Scottish descent. They fought exclusively for the south . Many lost there lives and property , including Slaves. The battle flag is my Heritage. I am proud of my ancestry. Every school should teach there students to trace there lineage . You may be surprised at what you'll find !
The confederate battle flag is a part of my family heritage. I have researched ancestors that died during the war from disease, died in northern POW camps , died in battle at places such as Chickamauga , Spotsylvania , Shiloh . Most of my ancestors willingly joined but some were forced into the war by the confederate government conscript act. My ancestry records back to the late 1600 Virginia . My ancestors fought for what they believed was right and I am proud of my heritage.
Violent thugs who ehtusiastically beat women -- killed men who rebelled -- and used religion to justify their greed and lust.
Confederates were scum sucking pigs -- big on whipping women and gangin up on individual slaves. But 2/3 of their soldiers deserted -- they surrendered -- on their own ground.
What's to honor? Their slavery? Their violence? Their surrrender?
It means less government, less taxes and the right for people to govern themselves! Not racist. It symbolizes a country and my heritage! People need to wake up because the flag is not racist!
the confederate flag represents chrisianity..( Southern Cross of St Andrew) same as the flag of Scottland. the men, ( white, black, indian, and latin) fought for their freedom form a tyranal government. they fout for their familys, their homes, and for what they believed was right. most of the south was christian. and most didnt own slaves or belived slavery was evil. we fly that flag in jhonor of thouse who fought. although there ar hate groups out ther they dont represent all of us southerners
Well, my Great Great Great Uncle was a Confederate Corporal in the Army, and he died in i think 1880s or 90s, it represents my rich Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana, and Forida heritage. God bless the South! OORAH! Semper Fi!
You should learn what the South said at the time of the Confederacy.
Texas Official Declaration of Causes
"We hold as undeniable truths...the African race is inferior - that the servitude of the African race is the revealed will of the Almighty Creator, "[the North has] proclaimed the debasing doctrine of the equality of all men, --a doctrine in violation of Divine Law.
Thats one of hundreds of examples of official documents or speeches of the Confederacy
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people
yeah, damn texas. wanna hear some Lincoln quotes?
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people by:
Abraham Lincoln
(1809-1865) 16th US President
Source
Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston Illinois September 18 1858
The Confederacy was founded -- lierally -- on slavery. Its own Vice President went on a speaking tour to explain their new constitution, he said: "Our new nation is the first on earth to actually be founded on the great moral truth that Almighty God ordained white men to enslave the black race"
Read the SOUTHS own documents of the time. They ALL said slavery. Learn the real history - not this lunatic revision by dumb asses trying to cover up for the slave rapers and baby sellers.
Smiley, your a sweetheart!! I have too thank you for asking on this and not just shotting off at the mouth. Bless your heart young lady. The Flag too me is one of Freedom. Freedom from an over powering gov. who would control it's ppl. in such a way that our rights are tossed out the window. some ppl use it for hate, some dont. Just know this, not everyone who has Confederate Flags hate others. I respect the fact you asked and Thank you for asking. Shows your a smart lady.
The south was torn down over 200 years ago. The slaves were freed by American blood. raceism is outmoded and for the uneducated. Only the money houngry like jesse jackson and al sharpton perpetuate it.
Im from South Carolina, my families lived in South Carolina since this state was called Carolina and my 9th great grandfather fought in the Continental army. I have 6 ancestors who fought in the Confederate army 2 came back alive and only 4 were white the other two were Cherokee Indian. My family had no slaves we were dirt farmers, but we had a lot of sons. To me the Confederate flag is a symbol often misrepresented like i hate seeing one with some picture of skull or wolf tearing there it.
to me its heritage. the civil war was the second revolution. we fought for the same reasons george washington fought for. it mostly wasnt about slavery.
the confedertate flag symbolizes my heritage in the confederacy i had many ancestors fight and die for the that flagthats why we southeners feel a sense of pride when we see it i dont think anything about race at all just my heritage
The flag represents my ancestors who gave their lives for it and the southron cause. Today it also used as a symbol of small government, low taxes and the southron way of life.
family has lived in the South (predominately Virginia). I am descended from the "FFV"s (First Families of Virginia) and I am sad to say did indeed own slaves. However, to say that this made them evil, and that I should forget the good in them because of this single, moral, misgiving I cannot accept. Thus, above all, it represents the fact that I am proud of who and where I came from. It represents heritage, not hate, and pride, not prejudice.
To me the Confederate Flag means this. It is the a symbol of those issues which the war was fought over. While it is a tainted symbol, one that has been used in an attempt to perpetuate the most famous and evil issue by certain groups, to me it means so much more. It represents a set of alternate ideals than those prevalent in government today: limited government, the common buzz word "states rights", among others. It also represents my heritage. Since the original settlement of James Town, my
The Confederate Flag symbolizes regional pride, culture and heritage. The history of slavery ought to be delved into a little more. Slavery has and still is a human phenomenom, but Al Sharpton and Jesse jackson don't condem the slavery that happened before or that is still happening today. 6-8 million people are slaves today. Most of them in Africa. Nobody cries out for them, there is only silence and a continuous outrage over the American experience when it is only a small chapter of the story.
I thank you openess and honesty! My family has been in the south since the founding of Jamestown, VA. My family has fought in the 1st War of Independence (1775-1783) and also fought in the 2nd War of Independence(1861-1865). Most Southron People had opposed slavery. Most Confederate Generals had opposed slavery! General Lee and General Jackson were on top of the list. The South fought against oppresive government, taxes and tariffs imposed on the South, and Freedom! "With God our Vindicator!"
Fighting against an oppressive government?! You joking right? What "oppressive" government were black slaves fighting against during the civil war?
And let's not even try to rewrite history with that canard about slavery not being a major catalyst for the conflagration that resulted in many unnecessary deaths.
True, Lee wanted to use slaves in the confederate army from the start, but the president of the confederacy and other military people didn't want to arm black folks lest insurrection.
Confederate flag symbolises for me freedom and resistance against the union federal governement. i' m not racist ( i have black friends ) but I want Freedom every where. South will rise again... this is the right to people to govern themself.
The Confederate flag symbolizes hope and resistance against the federal oppresive will. I have black friends, I' m not racist but i want to see Freedom everywhere. South will be free and not the Slave of the Union Governement.
I truly appreciate your openess here, that is the flag of many brave southern men of white black and native american race who stood up to fight against an opressive government, not to uphold slavery! please dont let these hate groups or biased history classes of today fool ya
"...to fight against an opressive government, not to uphold slavery!"
Couple of questions:
1. What "oppresive government" are you talking about?
2. If the South had been victorious, which I'm glad they weren't and I'm a southerner by birth, what would those "brave negro confederate soldiers," the majority of whom were still slaves, have to look forward to after returning home?
Keep in mind that the CSA had integrated units, mixed black and white, right from the start. Blacks got the same pay as whites. F. Douglass said ""There are at the present moment many Colored men in the Confederate Army doing duty not only as cooks, servants and laborers, but real soldiers, having musket on their shoulders, and bullets in their pockets, ready to shoot down any loyal troops and do all that soldiers may do to destroy the Federal government and build up that of the rebels."
Those who fought under the flags of the Confederacy (and there were quite a few different designs) were fighting against the power of the more populous northern industrial states to impose taxes & traiffs on the south & southern imports. Abe complained "What will we do for income?" if the south went - about 80% of the income for the US govt. came from tariffs on goods coming into the south. Just about all of that was spent in the north. The south derived little or no benefit from them.
I don't care!! Seeing a Confederate flag or hearing anything about southern pride is one of the reasons I hate being white and why I hate white people!!!! : |
its a flag that was flown in the civil war it has nothin to do with racism so get ur facts straight u want racism focus on the kkk or better yet go back to africa
i dont like the confederate flag. america has only ONE flag. besides the race issue when it comes to the confederate flag, people who claim to be patriotic, run around waving a flag that stood for disassembling america.
The Confederate flag does not represent hate or bigotry it was hijacked or stolen by K.K.K. and used it for hate and they ashamed it. also they used the u.s.flag in there demostration and the swastika as well. There are many southerner like me display the flag is part of our ancestry who fought for what is right during the civil war.Its not the symbol that hate its the person who abused it for there hateful purpose ! peace to every one
The Confederate flag is part of Southern Heritage and our ancestor . The Hate groups they stole confederate flag and abused it for hate purpose and also they use the U.S. flag in there Rally I am not racist i love all people.
The Confederate flag is part of Southern Heritage and our ancestor . The Hate groups they stole confederate flag and abused it for hate purpose and also they use the U.S. flag in there Rally I am not racist i love all people.
The Battle flag of the Confederate States doesn't mean racism. It means heritage to me.
The Civil War, or as us Southern Patriots call it, the War of Northern Agression was not about slavery, racism, or hate. It was about States Rights and freedom.
The Morrill Tariff is what caused the Southern States to secceed, not the issue of slavery.
The idea it was about slavery is post war propaganda written by the North to justify their abuses of power.
i do civilwar reenactments and i fly my confederate flag proudly and as a young boy i was told the difference and now that im 20 i still wouldnt change my past or my heritage and for all the racist white folks they need to grow up and stop blamin blacks for all the problems in the world and start hatin on that nigger in office my bad half nigga
States rights . Nobody in D.C. dictates to me . Elected individuals suggest possible changes in local government . Nothing " rammed down your throat " by one party or the other. Why do you think ammunition is getiin' so expensiive & hard to find ? Barack is gonna find out that the " bitter clinger's" can vote his ass outta office as fast as he got voted in . He is < young lady , pure Socialist .
I hate him for that fact alone . He is my enemy , and the enemy of every free man .
The flag represents our heirtage less government and power to the people and state. I am opposed to racism and all that stuff cept gay rights thats against God. The Klan does not speak for me or most Southerners. Black folks contributed alot to the Southern Cause in the war and deserve the respect they earned. I have many ancestors who fought in the gray and none owed a slave. The flag representing racism is just a very bad misconseption given to it by the media and bad representation by the KKK
the confederate flag mean southern pride we may not have a great past but we are proud of it.the real reason for the civil war was the south wanted to in layman's terms drop out of the U.S.A not about slavery, infact Lincolns plan was to deport all African Americans back to Africa.he killed before he could do this by a man that was mad about slavery.the confedeate flag to me symbolizes ,pride, past, and ancestors.
The Confederate flag to me means Less government, And people governing themselves. When I see that flag in someones yard whipping in the wind. I think of bravery, and heroism. My question is why can Che guevera and Malcolm X shirts be worn, But, So much backlash from a simple hardworking gentleman wearing the flag of his ancestors???
i am a white southern man and the confederate flag to me symbolizes pride of heritage, not racism, its a symble of praise to the men who faut and left theere blood on this nation so we may govern our selves and do what we think is rite, now im not sayen slavery was rite but i am sayen that it was rite to let people think it was, that was freedome, im glad there is no more slavery but something has to be dun bout immagartion, americas great, the best(my opinon)but there needs to be limits
the flag represents the revolution 13 states participated in. they lost. they fought for freedom and individual rights. they wanted less government and less taxes. slavery was a small issue. even abraham lincoln had slaves during the civil war
in england the union jack is now seen asa bit racist. most people wave st geogres cross. flgs are symbolic. they represent history wether we want them to or not
that flag means less government, less taxes (moril tariff) and the right of the people to govern themselves and southern heritage. 3 of my ancestors fought for the confederate army. im a proud rebel. i do not hate blacks or anybody. i hate ignorant people. the damn yankees brought the slaves here in the first place. slavery wasnt abolished in the north till 1863 2 years after the war started. the war wasnt over slaves and that flag isnt racist.
The flag stands for my heritage, I had 15 Confederate soldiers in my family and none of them owned a slave. I realize that certain factions have made it to mean something else, but there is people like me who want the true history to be revealed. The victors always write the history, the best place to learn about history is to read the soldier's diaries and first hand accounts.
smiley, i'm not from the south, but i also think it means rebellion, biker, macho tough guy. i see hispanic bikers sporting gear with the flag and i assume they think it means rebel. i also see rockers with the flag and i also think it means rebel. that's why i kind of like it because it sort of resembles an america of rebels and tough guys, not the traditional boy scout type of america projected by the current american flag
Groups like the KKK don't have the right to rep the Confederate Flag, they shame my Southern heritage. To those people who dissed you, fuck them. They have no right to love the Southern Flag. My family from the South was first of all, was full Native American until the 1960's. Second of all, they didn't own slaves cause they were poor and not racist. I love the Southern Cross, but I hate the fakes that flag it.
very true...im a decendant of robert e. lee himself and he only fought for his home and family...only decendants of the people that lived their is able to represent the flag as long as they dont disgrace...too bad im too late(kkk)
it is just a flag that i love and i think it is bullshit that it was taken away my school will kick you out of school for a week if you wear a shirt with the flag on it we are so afride of offending black people we can not have anything that could be called racist even if it is not
@hunter1411900.

Remember, slavery flourished for over 100 years under an American flag.
ketchupman04 1 year ago 4
what it meant at the time it was traditionally flown is irrelevant. Just like the meaning of the word nigger has changed, the meaning of the flag has changed based on the ideals of those who fly it today, and their perceptions of how people view it. That is the nature of expression. when people express themselves using the confederate flag, most of them are well aware of the racial association made by MOST minorities, thus we can infer this is the appeal to MOST of the people who fly it.
muzixmynd19 1 year ago
A flag is merely a symbol. Then it was for a proposed nation, today it is a mean by which people seek to express their individualism. You can make claims of what it means to you, but it means different things to different people, (example: the kkk). Its "heritage" in your eyes does not inevitably define its true meaning. You may feel some are ignorant in terms of its meanings to you, but do not let that flaw your sensitivity to the flag's meaning to others, for that is a far greater ignorance
muzixmynd19 1 year ago
To me it represents the Bible Belt. The stars are the same 13 states that are abt. 80% Christian. The North on the other hand is abt. 40%. The "X" represents the cross of Saint Andrew (Jesus' disciple). I fly my "Southern Cross" beside my Christian Flag. Lincoln said he couldn't let the South go in peace cuz they paid 80% of US taxes. Only 4% of southerners had slaves. The other 96% were just defending their homes. When the North won they could decide what was put in our textbooks. PS: Yer Sexy

Here is something that the political left never talks about is how the slave trade was 90% fueled by africans and arabs and over 2,000 blacks in america owned slaves themselves infact a book was written about it called black slaveholders.

the confederate flag symbolizes the refusal to submit to the demands of a tyrannic government. the untold reason for the civil war and the Souths succession is Lincolns morill tariff which raised the taxes in the south to unrealistic and unnecessary levels.
Southern pride from the north, guys.

I am Southern and that is my flag

to me the flag represents history. im a reenactor, so i have carried a confederate flag (not the one you guys are used to seeing, a regimental flag that looks unique) into a battle reenactment. it's about racism if you know nothing about the civil war and are just trying to show how much of a redneck you are. it's about pride and fighting for states rights if you are doing it for the sake of the Confederacy. some blacks even died for that flag i would assume as there were black confederates.
comradeshow 2 years ago
We all talk about how free of racism the northerners were. Was it not Abe Lincoln who said blacks are less human and inferior to whites and should have no power in government and should be shipped back to Africa? Jefferson Davis had more love for the black people around him , even giving them money and land than the bigot Abe Lincoln did.

12Annuanki12 2 years ago

The South was a lot like the Taliban of today.

The Confederacy was founded -- lierally -- on slavery. Its own Vice President went on a speaking tour to explain their new constitution, he said: "Our new nation is the first on earth to actually be founded on the great moral truth that Almighty God ordained white men to enslave the black race"
Read the SOUTHS own documents of the time. They ALL said slavery. Learn the real history - not this lunatic revision by dumb asses trying to cover up for the slave rapers and baby sellers.

I'm also descended from the First families of Virginia! Thank You and Deo Vindice!

Alabama1861 2 years ago 2

I truly appreciate your openess here, that is the flag of many brave southern men of white black and native american race who stood up to fight against an opressive government, not to uphold slavery! please dont let these hate groups or biased history classes of today fool ya
2009TruthSeeker 2 years ago 2
"...to fight against an opressive government, not to uphold slavery!"
Couple of questions:
1. What "oppresive government" are you talking about?
2. If the South had been victorious, which I'm glad they weren't and I'm a southerner by birth, what would those "brave negro confederate soldiers," the majority of whom were still slaves, have to look forward to after returning home?
Adulation? Freedom? 40 acres and a mule? What?
Some of you folks are too funny!

The south derived little or no benefit from them.

i dont like the confederate flag. america has only ONE flag. besides the race issue when it comes to the confederate flag, people who claim to be patriotic, run around waving a flag that stood for disassembling america.

The idea it was about slavery is post war propaganda written by the North to justify their abuses of power.

to me, the confederate flag represents southern pride, it's the single most common symbol of the southern states.

My question is why can Che guevera and Malcolm X shirts be worn, But, So much backlash from a simple hardworking gentleman wearing the flag of his ancestors???

that flag means less government, less taxes (moril tariff) and the right of the people to govern themselves and southern heritage. 3 of my ancestors fought for the confederate army. im a proud rebel. i do not hate blacks or anybody. i hate ignorant people. the damn yankees brought the slaves here in the first place. slavery wasnt abolished in the north till 1863 2 years after the war started. the war wasnt over slaves and that flag isnt racist.
long live the confederacy and children of god
donttasemebro92 2 years ago 2
