  • Hi.. I a really big fan of your videos .. you two are great.. could you please tell me for how long we can keep this chutney??

  • Wating fr something new......

  • @123uroosa :...there have been 6 new recipes since we released this one, pl. check out our website and sign up for email notifications...

  • 1st of all, it's pronounced Kari-A-pella. Not putta or patta.

And second, I don't think you can eat these leaves. You're supposed to put it in like Bay leaves. And then pick them out.

I'm curious as to how this could possibly taste.

  • @mtnshow1 : It is a plant that is originally from Tamil Nadu hence is (thanks to Wiki): 'kariveppilai' (literally "curry" (kari) "neem" (veppu) "leaf" (ilai) and in Hindi Leaf is "patta or putta".

  • @ShowMeTheCurry You are absolutely right, a lot of Malayalees and Tamil people think its "Kari-A-pella" but it is "Kari Veppu Ella" in Malayalam also, the Veppu refers to neem or a kind of ayurvedic plant...it is in the family of other ayurvedic plants...also...the leaf is very good for you, especially for Diabetics...if you boil and drink the water its supposed to be really good for weight loss too...I always eat the leaves haha, whether it is a chutney...or in sambar haha

  • @mtnshow1 : The leaf has a lot of flavor and aroma. The flavor is transferred to the dish once cooked and hence is usually not eaten, picked out and set aside on the plate :(

But the leaf is edible and the chutney is incredible. Other than using the Kadi or Kari Patta for seasoning and chutney, you can also make a dish (curry/gravy) and it is fantastic!

    Happy Cooking!

  • @ShowMeTheCurry btw, Hi ShowMeTheCurry (Anjua and Hetal Chechys haha (Chechy = DiDi in Malayalam)..I'm a huge fan of yours from Jersey...Malayalee..I am an undergrad at Rutgers...keep up the great work..I cook quite a bit, but you guys have taught me a lot
