  • Sooooooo many good memories of watching this hungover on my stag do.

  • very strange bowling action he has, no jump nothing, hands in air before realeasing the ball

  • very tall guy

  • Kraplis plays for himself/his stats. Freddie plays for his team and country. No comparison !

  • Man i wish Freddie was Australian. One of my favourite cricketers, and i'm Australian. Legend!

  • With Freddie you've got someone who can get the team going in an instant, he is a genuine game changer not just in his ability but the buzz he gives off to other people, and that alone is why he was unique and rated so highly.

  • To all those people saying this wasn't that good etc. You've clearly overlooked how important this was in the context of the match and the series at large. If this hadn't have happened Australia would have almost certainly won the second test and would have probably gone on to a whitewash if we're being honest. Instead... well we all know what happened.

  • awesome piece of bowling

  • my dead grandma is a better bowler than freddy flintoff

  • All these heroics. Now he`s Morrisons property. Shame.

  • I think Wasim Akram had one such over in every single match.

  • @Nile19861 great point- but He's not English, so he's not built up!

  • Lol..Look at Peterson.

  • flintoff was a one series wonder. apart from that he's done nothing else. just bcoz he's english is there such a hype.

  • @bjahangir1THEN mention any modern all rounder other than flintoff who has such series in recent times with match winning and uplifitinf affect

  • @prasanna447 Jacques Kallis, Daniel Vettori, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Yuvraj Singh

  • @thecorneredtigers11 jaques kallis shoaib mallik vettori r match winners LOL

  • @prasanna447 yeah I got mixed up with malik and afridi. Don't take anything away from Kallis

  • Comment removed

  • @thecorneredtigers11 show me a match where kallis has helped his team when they were down under.in this match flintoff scored 73 when eng was dumped to 75-6.he had a partnership of 51 wid the last wicket.moreover while defending the modest total of 282 wid 2 days remaining he provided 2 crucial break through this single over itself n stopped the aussies who were cruising at 47-0 who smashed ashely giles n harmirson

  • @prasanna447 So your just going to give me his stats from one series?

He's only ever got two five-fors, also, his batting average is 32, Kallis averages 57 with the bat and 32 with the ball, the same as Fintoff with the ball! 57 with the fucking bat!!!!

  • @thecorneredtigers11 freddie is a team man unlike jaques kallis

  • looking through low quality cricket clips on youtube is such a pain, glad to find a decent quality upload

  • best allrounder better than kallis...greatest allrounder of this era

  • @sameer101gm , he ain't better than kallis . Look at kallis batting abillity , cant compare that to andrew ??

  • @sameer101gm Im a Lancashire and England fan born and bred. But how anyone can say hes better than Kallis is beyond me.

  • as a Pakistani i have to say that hes one the best allrounder ! too sad he took his retirement early .. otherwise he'd be standing along with Sobers, Imran, Miller, Botham & kallis. :( i always loved too see him in action.. we'll miss u freddie <3

  • As an Englishman, I have to say that Ponting is one of the finest batsmen to grace this sport....however that was rapid quality bowling. He got the crowd going and with that he bowled better too. Punter had no chance. One of the few times I've seen him look completely out of his depth.

  • Who is the commentator ?

  • @chinnasaikiran43 Mark Nicholas

  • Is this Ashes ?

  • @Gamershell1000 England against Australia in whites is always Ashes. So yep. 2005.

  • Thank fuckin lord for the no ball

  • This is why he is so overrated. His best over ever had 7 balls because of a no-ball. Justin Langer's dismissal was dumb luck according to me. Sure it will go down in the books as b.Flintoff, but it was an inside edge. Ponting's dismissal was pretty good. All in all, a good over but not something that should be heralded as something so great.

  • @stylezofom you are either an idiot, an aussie or someone who knows nothing about cricket, probably all three...

  • @stylezofom good cricket isn't just about stats. Freddie's numbers aren't great, he didn't get many 5-fors and averages could be better. The reason he was brilliant was because he could change a game, just like that, through sheer passion and willpower. One team could have the momentum and Freddie could just snatch it away from them with one action. Watch this, Edgbaston 2008 v Kallis, run out v Ponting and some of his Ashes batting. Not many players can win tests on their own. He could.

  • @stylezofom not untrue words. Don't tell the Gloating Enlish tho- they were losers for so long that they build everything up

  • @rohitrez thank you

  • @rohitrez yeah true. they do that with their football too. England's a great country. but they suck at sports and they just wont admit it

  • @stylezofom

I'm not an argumentative type, but watch this and tell me he's overrated: /watch?v=A-1oA29fWBo

Flintoff was inconsistent (mainly cos he was always injured) but was a top player and had a huge catalytic effect on everyone around him.

  • @stylezofom So... How many years have you played highest level cricket? None? Well then...

  • @stylezofom totally agreed

  • @stylezofom You've seriously misjudged how much the ashes means to england then you moron. thats 4 wickets in 9 balls for flintoff there, and langer was beaten by a leg cutter so hardly dumb luck. Fred then spends the next 5 balls beating one the then best batsmen in world cricketing history all ends up. the last ball is an absolute jaffer

  • @stylezofom people like you clearly dont watch cricket. You look at his stats and think 'yeah he was overated', but he really wasnt. He was one of the only people who was able to change a game with the bat and the ball. He was a talisman for the team, the rest of the players got a boost when he played. Also, (except for the no-ball) how are you saying a two wicket maiden isn't worthy of his best over ever?

  • @stylezofom well i think andrew FlintoFF, From 2002-2008, was the most Feared Fast bowler in the world...may be along with Ntini & akhter... he was an extraordinary dowler....pace, bounce, seam, swing....every thing, u may expect From a complete Fast bowler......its sad he retired at 31....

  • @stylezofom mad aussie? grow a set and deal with it son.

  • @stylezofom i think you're missing the point quite badly here mate. He's bowling against the best team in the world and they're 47-0. England couldn't buy a wicket and freddie the all-rounder has come on and he's got batsman like ricky ponting shaking in his skin. The ashes is the pinnacle of the sport, it separates the good from the great, he revolutionised the english game with his performances and this over is an example of what he achieved. Please don't embarrass yourself again

  • @stylezofom classic example of someone who didnt watch the test match. This was the turning point in this test match. If we had lost this test match (which we very nearly did) we probably would have gone on to lose the ashes, as we would have been down 2-0. but instead, we narrowly won this test match and went on to win the series. This was probably the most influential over for england in the ashes

  • I was there that day, the whole feeling around the ground changed the instant Freddie came on, before he even took the first wicket. Everyone knew, wicket(s) coming. After that over, everyone knew we would win the game, though I think most, myself included, thought it would be that day by a big margin. How wrong could we have been!

  • @01242692723 after the first two tests of the india series, how about flintoff AND broad?!

  • No one in an England Cricket team since Botham has the ability to change the game like he did EXCEPT Freddie Flintoff.

  • I love that he bowls a no ball and yet this is still an incredible over.

  • I remember watching this live and getting goose bumps. Certainly one of the best overs in Flintoff's career - these are not rank tailenders here, it's Langer and Ponting, the two in-form batsmen in Australia's 2005 Ashes squad.

Totally agree with the top comment, Freddie could really change a game. Given the situation of the match coming into this over, given the fact that he'd been suffering from a shoulder injury, this is one of THE heroic moments in his career.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • this is what cricket's all about

  • I love the commentary. "Freddie Flintoff... THE MAN"

  • I remember watching that, hairs on the back of my beck stand up. Freddie, on his day, was simply unplayable.

  • greatest moment in cricket history for me..!

  • Electrifying atmosphere!

  • When was this?

  • Brazil is nothing without Ronaldo

    Argentina is nothing with maradona

Pakistan is nothing without Wasim Akram

England is nothing without Fredie <3

  • is this at the ashes

  • this is not the best over bastard !! a pakisthani bowler got 0,W,W,W,W,W in an over !

  • Comment removed

  • @lightrescuer i imagine your referring to mohammad amir against the aussies in the t20 world cup? hes a disgrace to cricket. rather have freddies two any day of the week

  • Favorite Bowler/Cricketer of all!!!!

  • eat that ponting you cunt

  • y did he have to retire so early.

  • there must have been 2 aussies watching this vid

  • omg he is so good

  • fkcin legendary

  • Un. Playable.

  • Re: Siddle's hattrick over is better than this. Yeah, right cos taking out two of the world's best batsmen in the fourth innings of a test match that you need to win is no where near the acievement of removing England's middle/lower order in the first innings of a test match that you don't win. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. Ponting nicks the ball cos he's under serious pressure, and has never been a sound starter. Flintoff did him good and proper, awesome, awesome cricket at the highest of levels.

  • best sport ever ever

  • it´s amazing what a few mints will do :)

  • Greatest series ever. The look on Ponting's face as he walks says it all' "What just happened to me?"

  • @medclass2003 - "don;t kno wwhy Ricky" ---coz the guy never knew how to play real good bowling thats why

  • The Man !

  • Siddle's hattrick over is better than this.

  • They should put in a rule where the batsman can decline the extra delivery after a no-ball and call it "The Flintoff Rule".

  • I really loved the English Cricket Squad in 2006... Andrew Strauss, Marcus Tresothick, Alistair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaughan, Ian Bell, Gerriant Jones, Ashley Giles, Monty Panesar, Liam Plunkett, Matthew Hoggard, Steven Harmison and James Anderson.

  • 1.49 is one of the best scenes ever in test cricket.

  • come on england! were owning the aussie's never the less flint off was one of the best! and btw aussie's no one gives a shit about cricket in england its all about football and how come aussie's never even get in the world cup ? haha

    because you suck.

  • how is that the best over ever??? 1st ball is average at best....a noball included as well...

  • @Dan787938 considering he started it on a hat trick, how australia were settled with langer on 28. 2 LBW shouts and an edge that dropped short, getting the australian captain whose the second highest run scorer of all time with the last ball of the over turning the ashes on its head. Im quite sure it was better than average.

  • @Dan787938 haha u tool

  • will from inbetweeners at 0:33 ?

  • So awesome when on song.. Will alws remember that series.. Love the poms, hate th Aussie cricket team.. Bunch of arrogant pricks.. So much for their trash talkin in this test, stupid pricks.. I hope Johnson gets grounded now the stupid mammas boy..

  • I remember watching this on the telly. Never seen anything like it, and probably never will again. The whole series was amazing from start to finish.

Freddie might not have had the best stats in the world but man oh man was he great to watch when he was on fire.

  • Fat bastard.

  • @pysgodfach you looking in the mirror?

  • look at the crowd!!!! seems like they are playing in india!!

  • Thanks for the upload... this had been on YT for ages, and was removed.

  • Great sporting drama...moves me everytime i watch it :-D

  • Freddie - the man!

  • i love the roar of the crowd when the hit the wickets or a LBW . Ive only played cricket 6 months and i love it !

  • There WAS a no-ball in there so idk lol jk; that's some fantastic stuff...I personally think it was extremely stupid--and selfish might I add--for him to quit the better, more skillful forms of cricket for the money-hungry twenty20!! I mean he'll never be able to showcase this type of skill ever again! Pretty sad IMO...

  • @HeRsHeYsKiSsz that's just reality of the world. Bowlers, esp., are quitting test early to reserve their talent for short format in order to make more money. Beside, test matches increase your chances of getting injured (for bowlers). As for selfishness, it is a calculated move; If a bowler was to get injured, he would simply be dropped, first from the team and then from payroll. No one will come to rescue a so he has to take care of himself and his future.

  • No one in an England team since Botham has the ability to change a game like he did.

  • @mattavi Yeah true but now we've got two potentials in finn and broady

  • @mattavi That's untrue. Phil Tufnell, Robert Croft and Graeme Hick were genuine game-changers. Maybe not in England's favour, but don't for a moment tell me that they weren't terrific game-changers in their own right :-)

  • @mattavi The man!

  • @mattavi stuart broad

  • anyone who can watch that over and then say a single negative comment about Andrew Flintoff obviously knows NOTHING about cricket.

  • Couldnt Cope with Freddie.unlucky Ricky.

  • anyone who performs well against Australia is overhyped. Flintoff wasn't that great. He had great moments, but that's about it.

He retired because of injuries and bing drinking. research

  • @rodeo179 Injury yes, not binge drinking. Don't be stupid.

  • shame hes had to retire, would love for him to be there right now

  • @ukstevey why shame ? good sportsmen retire at the right time

  • Flintoff was such a show pony, yet he wasn't even a great player. That really shits me.

  • @MrSydneyKing

hi ricky ponting how are you ?

  • @MrSydneyKing Not a great player!! You must mean Ricky Ponting - because to bowl to Ricky and stop him getting even a run, means you have to be either bloody good or very lucky.

  • @MrSydneyKing Still bitter that he single handededly changed games in our favour? How long was it since you got out Cook?

  • @MrSydneyKing SWANNNNNNN, SWANNNNNNN WILLL TEAR U APARRRRRT. AGAINNNNN!!! How many Aussies have been to the last 2 test matches? Not many.

  • @G00n3r4Life full stadiums on the 1st 2nd and 3rd days... :/

  • @aussiestuff well done considering australia is at home...... If it wasn't for the English fans there would had been 0 attendances on the last 2 days.

  • @G00n3r4Life world record crowd at the boxing day test for all days. tickets are all sold out. the barmy army and english supporters take up very little of the crowd.

  • @aussiestuff More england fans go to australia than australians to england for the ashes and australia has dominated for the last 30 years.

  • @G00n3r4Life so what if we dont travel overseas? we still fill our stadiums fine.

  • @aussiestuff You sure about the world record now? All the aussies left at lunch :D

  • the leg cutter, love it, get my wickets with that

  • he was capable of great things, shame they didnt happen very often

  • Great cricketer, just a bit of too arrogant for my liking.

  • Thank you for posting!!

  • Thank you for the upload. The three deliveries before Ponting was dismissed, the ball were heading towards his stumps. Ponting guessed that the ball which dismissed him, may also be heading for his stumps, so, he prodded at it to protect his stumps. Flintoff fooled him with a leg cutter.
