  • Surprise surprise, one of her favorite novels was 1984

  • So pissed at the ending of mockingjay :/ Is having a happy ending that over rated? Sheesh.

  • LORD OF THE FLIES!!! WOOOT!!

  • 1984 is a GREAT book! I'm 19 and I love it!

  • Comment removed

  • @Xlr8legacy

You should remove that comment, You're spoiling the freaking books for other people.

I have read all three books, so I don't mind.

She is an amazing writer, But who cares If she dies.

It's crazy enough that their is child violence in this book, So what makes a difference that she dies.

  • I really enjoyed this interview. And woot for "A Wrinkle In Time" (one of my favorites) and "1984"

  • Comment removed

  • (Contains Spoilers) Gale never did go back to District 12. Not because he didn't love Katniss, but he knew whenever she saw him she would connect him to Prim's death. He couldn't just do that to her. Sometimes you need to let the things you love go free.(:

  • I MET HER. I MET HER. SHE LIVES 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME!

  • @mithproductions101 Suzanne Collins?

  • I listened to the official audiobook, which means all of the pronunciation is approved by the author, and the reader pronounced it "Pan-um", and the author in this interview pronounced it "pa-NEM"...whats wrong here?

  • @LillyGBeauty are you sure all pronunciation in audio books is approved by the author? The HP official audio books have several things mispronounced, some accidentally, some are pronounced one way in one book and another way in another book. I'd go with how the author herself pronounced it :)

  • @Kristinmarie231 That's what I was thinking, but in the movie trailers they say it the way the audiobook pronounced it! I'm guessing she accidentally said it wrong.

  • I Am in LOVE with The Hunger Games. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE she needs to make a prologue of the first war or something and there's got to be more depth to the ending with peeta and katniss? What about her mom does she ever she her again? What about gale who does he fall in love with if anyone? Do they ever see each other again? What happened to the Capitol kids hunger games? I MUST KNOW MORE I CAN USE MY IMAGINATION BUT I NEED A REAL ANSWER FROM THE AUTHOR HERSELF!!!!!

  • Anybody else notice the 1984 reference in Catching Fire? ;)

  • The Heart is a Lonely Hunter -- Wonderful story!

  • This was one of the best series I have read. I read all three books in 5 days! and was so excited, I had to look up the author....and I am not a "young" adult reader!!!! The plot line is indeed, a believable one that could easily evolve from current reality TV shows, and the generalized apathy of a populace who has no idea of our deteriorating Democracy, and lack of compassion or sympathy for those less fortunate.

  • @Obeliam If you're from the United Sates, than that would be our deteriorating Republic. Having a Democracy is how something like The Hunger Games could happen in real life. A Republic protects the rights of the individual. A Democracy can take those rights away if you're unlucky enough to be part of the 49%.

  • @esopxe You mean the 51%. Democracy is really a dictatorship of the 51%. If 51% of people said you couldn't own a firearm, then you wouldn't be allowed to own a firearm.

  • @ThunderSooner2835II No, I mean the 49%. That is the percentage that loses. That is why I said "if you're unlucky enough to be a part of the 49%". But yes, you're correct about it being a dictatorship of the 51%.

  • @esopxe Sorry for misreading. My bad.

  • you pronounce Panem pan um i always said pan am lol

  • I would have loved to learn more about Cato, Clove, and the rest of the career pack of the 74th Hunger Games. I love D2!!

  • the master mind behind my personal FAVORITE....btw she's wearing a Mockingjay necklace...

  • I like Suzanne... She's smart:))) I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES!!

  • i can say no other books has ever made me cry until i read these briliant books

  • This was very boring interview

  • ( *Contains Spoilers of ending of mockingjay!!*) I would like to see a epilogue about Katniss and Peeta and there life back in district 12 together and a prologue about Panem and what happened to them! By The Way I am the number one hunger games fan!!

  • Suzanne Collins, I am eternally grateful for The Hunger Games. Never have I read a book that has been so eye-opening. As a history student, this book shows perfectly how ignoring History will lead to disaster and that is something I appreciate. Thank you for writing such a brilliant series which has terrific meaning. These books will stick with me. Thank you.

  • LORD OF THE FLIES IS MY FAVORITE BOOK TOO besides SuzanneCollins books

  • You are freaking amazing suzanne collins! I LOVED THE HUNGER GAMES. read them over 3 days. Each book a day. It was the best.

  • I Am almost finish with the hunger games book And SO FAR AWESOME

  • swag

  • i got the books last friday and just finished them today i love them it has some really sad moment i cryed loads at these books

  • @thewolf1911 i still cry and ive been reading them for over a year

  • I hate hate Prim at the first time I read the series and then as I read the mockingjay for the first time, she become one of my favorite character and then... in the capitol.. (Not going to spoil it) GOD. SUZANNE, WHY HER? WHY????

  • YOOO! Here's an idea. Hi Im from Egypt. I just went through a reveloution. Reading the Hunger Games remind me constantly, that my country is leaderless, and it relates so much to Egypt. The Games are still on here. I am a tribute/rebel. Snow is gone, but now we have to kill Coin. So let the Games begin, and my odds be EVER in your favor.

  • This girl must have an extremely disturbing imagination

  • I love her !

  • Lord of the flies? now I can tell where she got the idea of having teen and young tributes instead of adults.. and the part of survival in a unknown place or island. Although some chapter in lord of the flies are ghastly, and her other inspiration for the book. THe hunger games really came out pretty totally awesome...

  • @awesomeskier12345

I couldn't agree more. Everytime I'd pick a new favourite, their dead!!

    Cinna, Finnick, Prim!!!

  • "hello friends, I'm suzanne collins., that bitch that killed your favourite charactors"

  • @awesomeskier12345 she just tries to keep the story more interesting.... she's tries to show the readers how harsh and cruel the Capitol is...

  • @awesomeskier12345 hahahahha xD but we should thank her for even writing the book series!

  • Comment removed

  • thank you for creating these books that are so close to my heart

  • i cried when i saw her shes a genious. omg

  • it sounds kinda sick saying it but the hunger games is an AMAZING idea.. not for real life but putting it in a fictional book is amazing. very creative and i loved the books for their originality

  • The Necklace Is a Mockingjay !

  • i want her necklacee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I love you Suzanne Collins.

  • Why does Twilight get compared to every great series. It's so stupid and has no depth.

  • @tharaphee Because it's a YA *cough*(afortyyearoldssexualfantasyhurhurcamp) and everyone think YA books are meant to be like twilight. Or some shit thing like that

  • Will you become my wife? or just give me the mocking jay nekalace! :D high comment time

  • she's wearing a mockingjay necklace!! that's awesome.

  • I want another series like the Hunger Games!

  • Lizzy (me) loves the Hunger Games, real or not real? HECK YES REAL!! o.o

  • shes wearing the mocking jay ill steal it from her or maybe buy it off

  • I love you you write very good books

  • I love Wrinkle in Time too!!!!

  • I saw the trailer and this looks a lot like Battle Royale. >.<

  • @Arklui No it doesnt , but Battle Royale is awesome.

  • After reading the final edition to the hunger games I felt as if I was katniss & been experiencing all that loss & trauma. I'm sad how the book ended but no war ends happy...

  • I LOVE YOU SUZANNE!!! BEST AUTHOR IN THE WORLD <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • Guys......you shouldn't put spoilers in the comments!!!

  • I. WANT. THAT. PENDANT!!!!!!!!!

  • Lord of the Flies, 1984 and a Wrinkle in Time. I can see how they might have inspired you to write The Hunger Games... all are such good books in their own way. The cliff hangers in The Hunger Games keep the story interesting from page to page, and book to book!!

  • prim dies ....... fuck shit piss i only read the first

  • Reading the books for the 6th time. ;) Twilight - took me 8 months to finish the series. The Hunger Game - took me 2 days to read all 3 books, couldn't put them down. Lol. ;D

  • @blm0724 I agree 100%, once I started I couldn't stop. Worse was that someone had checked it our from my library and I couldn't read the second one for 2 days, I ended up reading it online, that's how desesperate I was hahahah.

  • @blm0724 LOL>.. I'm still in first page of the first book of twilight... and it's been almost 3 yrs since I open that book lol... THe hunger Games.. I'm still in second book.. finishing it...

  • @blm0724 i only read the first and second book 3 times and the last one twice

  • "I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. So after, when he whispers, 'You love me. Real or not real?' I tell him, 'Real.'" That's when the tears were at their greatest. Happy or sad, I still don't know.

  • Hey Suzanne, thanks for sucking the life and happiness out of me in Mockingjay. That ending was fucking sad. So many tears came out of these eyes.

  • JEALOUS- I wanna have her necklace.

  • Dear Suzanne, I love the hunger games series so much BUT WHY THE HECK DID U KILL EVERYBODY IN MOCKINGJAY!!!!! I Mean Cinna,Prim,Rue,Finnack,Snow,Coin,Darius, ALMOST PEETA . i mean i love u and all BUT WHYYY??????

  • @shirra101 spoiler alert. you shouldn't have written that...

  • HOLY SHIT SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS! f**k you guys I didn't finish all the books

  • @Person949 thanks for the heads up im in the middle of the second book so i wont read the comments

  • I LOVED the books, but I thought the ending was disappointing :(

  • Comment removed

  • every time you pause it she is pulling a ridiculous face

  • Suzanne Collins, I hate you.

I just finished reading the third and final book and it was terrible.

The ending's awful. You are A BAD WRITER. You've ruined this whole trilogy for me.

To those who havn't read the last book yet- without spoiling anything- I'll just recommend to you to STAY AWAY FROM THE THIRD BOOK.

  • @verduna2 Why the third book is epic and so is the ending. what book are u reading?

  • @notesfromheaven03 I read the Mockingjay, and it was HORRIBLE.

The ending is so disappointing... Can't believe she wrote such a crappy book!

  • @verduna2 I DISAGREE. Most ppl might have died but if that didnt happen, the book would be just plain boring and not interesting. Everything happened for a reason. Suzanne Collins is the BEST author I've known so far and The Hunger Games is much better than the twilight and harry potter books. The ending's sad and happy at the same time. The feeling when the war's over. You prolly don't know what a good book is.

  • @honzM11 If you say The Hunger Games is better than Harry Potter, then obviously YOU don't know what a good book is.

  • @verduna2 Everyone has a different opinion verduna. You can't just stop people from reading the hunger games book just cuz YOU think it's bad.

  • @honzM11 How can I stop someone from reading a book? This is my opinion, this is my suggestion for everyone who doesn't wanna be disappointed.

And I didn't think it was sad, I thought it was BAD WRITING.

  • @verduna2 sad? I didnt say sad,, i said "bad" but anyways,, this is ridiculous.

  • @honzM11 You're right, your opinion is ridiculous

  • @verduna2 You're ridiculous and this stupid argument is too. Keep talking :)

  • @honzM11 So why do you keep commenting?

I have a right to have my own opinion. If you don't like it- that's not my problem.

  • @verduna2 you have no right to blame Suzanne Collins for this, all people have different opinions and she is just trying to keep her readers interested. I personally loved the third book and I would recommend it to people.

  • i wonder if shes seen the mainstay pro videos of the hunger games

  • SERIOUSLY people stop posting stuff about the BOOKS! Are you seriouse? some ppl might not be finished jet or at least put a Spoiler alert in the beginning -.-

  • ._.

  • You freaking people just spoiled it for me.

  • :S I am so sorry for you :S you should seriously not read the comments if you're not finished :S

  • I feel like my heart is not complete because of the 3rd book

  • For some reason I knew she was going to say Lord of the Flies.

  • I cried at the end of the last book. I wanted Peeta and Katniss to end up together and everything, but Peeta wasn't fully recovered and back to himself. He'll just never be the same and that's too sad for me to accept :(

  • I have to say, the third book could be rewritten in such a better way. I don't see the point in Katniss and her crew going to the capital and then achieving nothing by deaths (FInnick, Boggs etc). Is it just to fill up book space?

  • @Asmeraldx

I can see your point. I hadn't really thought about that. Though I do feel that Katniss did achieve something when going to the Capitol. She realized both sides were corrupt.

  • I'm so heart broken. First Peeta isn't fully revived, Gale is left alone and it seems like he's never going to be seen again, Haymitch returns to his drinking and Katniss looses all the connection she's got (I was angry when Haymitch made such an attempt for a drunk to apologise, but she runs away), and Snow's death was dissapointing.

  • Strangly she reminds me of Delly from the books....haha

  • she doesnt look like what i thought she would... kinda good though cos i imagined her have similar features to katniss just cos some authors do that *cough* stephenie meyer *cough*

  • anybody notice the mockingjay necklace? :)

  • I enjoyed the first book wholeheartedly, the second was ok, and it connected well with what unraveled in the first, however the third just made me roll; it seemed rushed and out of place, the characters seemed thin and one dimensional-like, that it made me not care for the characters that much, I understand that war can be traumatic and such but (not going to spill spoilers) what I read was just...anyway, I liked 1 &2 but the third, in my opinion, could've been much MUCH better.

  • If you ask me which of the books I like in order it would have to be 1..2..3. Just because the first one is always the best and the last one because I thought she rushed the book and that's why it ended. 2? It competes with 1. But I love the trilogy all in all(:

  • I loved the hunger games i cant wait to see the movie but the only thing i didnt like about the book was the ending i was all excited hopen peeta and katniss be together at thee end and i finnaly finish the damn book Nd i think it was a waist of my time i wanted a happy ending like wtf

  • @mspimpdaddy14 hahaha so true. But well they ended the war and stuff :S

  • fuck hunger games love gregor

  • @hailo666 I know it sucks.. now you won't know the real emotions. People should really put SPOLIER ALERT at the top.

  • @hailo666 and, I wouldn't have known that if your comment was a top rate comment D: le sigh

  • @hailo666 WHY IN THE WORLD MAKE THAT A TOP COMMENT!!! IT SPOILS IT FOR MORE PEOPLE!!!! >:(

  • @gibbosparks I'm sorry!! :( :(

Doesn't matter, i watched a hunger games review by elle fowler and now everything is ruined :/ no point in reading the other two books but may as well...

  • @hailo666 My friends spoiled the last 2 books for me, but I still read them. I'm so glad I did because even if you know what happens in the end, what happens to lead up to those things ... are unexplainable!!! They're absolutely phenomenal!!!!

  • @hailo666 @gibbosparks Lmao, don't go on the internet if you don't want to be spoiled.

  • @hailo666 WOW you just have to be the top comment. thank you so much for saying who dies. :(

  • Comment removed

  • Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games Kindle Edition sharpfiles.blogspot

  • "What can you do about it?" become a true marxist...not a stalinist or a maoist someone who truly beleives in furthuring working class democracy.

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!! WHERE DID SUZANNE COLLINS GET THAT NECKLACE!! I WANT IT SO BAD!!

  • @rebacox816 It sure will be EVERYWHERE when the movies are out

  • @hici61 yea i hope so

  • @rebacox816 can't wait! xD

  • Dear Suzanne Collins,

You are my hero. Thank you for making the Hunger Games (aka MY LIFE) and thank you for creating Peeta (aka THE LOVE OF MY LIFE).

    Love,

    A Hunger Games-Crazed Fan :)

  • wow i can beileve she made the hunger games :)

  • You can really sense the 1984 and Lord of the Flies influences on the novels, I'm not surprised she named them.

  • These books really made me ashamed of all the technology i own. But its here and might as well enjoy it. But so many thoughts won't leave my head, "and thats when the rest of the parachute went off." PRIIIIIMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!

So after when he whispers "You love me, Real or not Real"

    i tell him "real"...

  • The western, developed countries really are the capitol and the eastern, less developed countries are the districts. Christmas is a clear example. You see so many adds on TV and just walking around, kids and teens (including me) are caring more about what they receive than what they give.

  • She says Panem way differently then I do....anyone else?

  • @TheJellybelly92 lol same..

  • Genious

  • Love the necklace -3 where can i get it?

  • Will you pronounce all of the names? my sister and I are debating which is right.... Like Cinna, Portia ect.

  • CATO is my favourite

  • who else thinks the quote behind her is from the end of inkheart?

  • wow. so not what i expected

  • oh prim oh rue do you have to die

  • "Hello friends. I'm Suzanne Collins and I killed most of your favorite characters."

  • Jazzy07rocks I'm sorry sometimes I forget... Great now I feel bad :( And I'm just saying, you probably shouldn't read the comments if you didn't finish reading the books...

  • I think The Hunger Games is an awesome trilogy but I find it hard to believe that Suzanne wasn't influenced by the Battle Royale novel when she started writing the series. :/

  • @Mrcityhorror Battle Royale could have been influenced by Stephen King's stories, or that Greek myth that Collins was inspired of, or any other similar book that is out there (believe me, there are a few). Battle Royale was definitely not the first story with that concept. Plus, the similarities with BR end in the first book. Catching Fire and Mockingjay are completely different.

  • i realy didnt like the last book, she wanted an easy way out for gale,to make everyone hate gale, u thought to ur self, hey so why dont i make gale kill prim and let katniss hate him.great idea.uhhh why, thats just crazy,if u wanted the book to be about life and wars,DONT do love triangles, and at least u could have made gale have a real personality, give everyone else one and forget about one of the main chracters, realy suzanne collins,im not hating, dont get me wrong, i love the books, its amazing.

  • @ilove2read321 yeah I felt the same way :S I loved gale in the first book, in the last one he was just aweful :S

  • 'Hello Friends, I'm an evil bitch'

  • Suzanne Collins WHY DID YOU KILL PRIM

  • @MoonlightSparkles1 wow thank you for ruining the book for those of us who haven't finished yet... -__-"

  • @MoonlightSparkles1 I know, its the only time I cried in that book. I CAN'T BELIVE THAT! But this really is a spoiler.

  • Why did you kill Prim and Finnick? I don't give a frick about ' the young set' reading books!

  • @zendayaforever072898

I KNOWWWW I CRIED SO HARD THRU THAT!!

  • @zendayaforever072898 bro im not at that part yet wtf

  • Love the books keep up the good work

  • good job on keeping johanna alive. i like her the most out of all the characters XD.

  • i still cry about prim and rue's deaths..... :_(

  • WHY DID YOU DO THAT! FINNICK!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • @Swiftheart101 Finnick?! what about prim?!!!!

  • FINNICK!! WHY WHY HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A THING (cries) poor annie....
