We are so good at putting together acts of war, but ask our leaders how to put together a layered and bio-diverse food forest and they wouldn't have a clue.
if people like curtis le may had their way our asses would have been blown away by ww3 long ago. thank goodness for the common sense of presidents like eisenhower and kennedy.
An absolutely fantastic book called "Iron Eagle: the turbulent life and times of Gen Curtis LeMay" is a great one to own and all should get it and read it. You'll be glad you did. =-)
All this killing was despicable. It's absolutely terrible that people seem to think called something 'war' justifies murder.
Imagine if this bombing was done by the Germans or the Japanese, for example, this would be condemned.
The Japanese who were killed were people too, and were just as susceptible to the same sociological influences as anyone else. They felt that killing their enemies was justified
The Septermber 11th attacks were heinous, but I don't see much difference - just murder
America cut off there oil supplies, and it is difficult to fight a war with out oil, so they need oil and they attacked america. thats a very basic version of the story.
The nukes were not propaganda. They were a means of ending the conflict. Yes, it killed many innocents. Yes, there were other ways to achieve victory, but how long would they take, and how many men would have to be sacraficed? The nukes ended the fight. Anyone saying that it was barbaric would have to overlook Pearl Harbor. They knew what they were getting into as the first Japanese plane came over American waters.
@yopablogi I don't see what you mean by propaganda, but I understand your other points. By dropping Fat man and Little Boy, we sought to leave an impression on an upcoming rival, Russia. Though the war was technically over in Europe, Japan refused to give up, and we nailed em. This show of force affirmed our position as a super power and would intimidate our soon-to-be rival, leading to the Cold War.
Americans amazed the world with their ability to rebound from low tech country in the midst of a horrible depression to the World Leader in Technology and Power! Went from (world's view) illiterate hillbillies to Thousands of Most Advanced Aircraft in the world AND Nuclear Weapons! Just picture U.S. in late 1930's and then fast forward to late 1940's. You can't even recognize the country it changed so much! For Better or Worse U.S. GNP in 1950 was almost equal to the rest of world combined!

Youre a douche-bag propaganda drone who doesnt know jack a/b history. Japan attacked b/c they felt they should control the colonies that the USA had already conquered, and they feared an eventual attack by the USA. They wanted to grab the colonies that were in their own backyards, kick out white-man and rule an area that was already Asiatic in culture. Too bad plp like U were not in japan when it was destoyed . The USA was only out to kill and destroy. They could have used a blockade.
this is a great video i love it curtis lemay is the man . just think if japan did not surrender conventional bombs atomic bombs the b 29 did it all . great plane to bad only one b 29 FI FI is still airworthy
