I simply adore this genius. His music is sublime. Thank goodness for YouTube fans that post his concerts etc. For those of us in Australia it's the closest we can get to seeing him in action. Only folks that seem to tour down under are 'The Hoff' types *shudder*
You see, people view Van as being a grumpy old guy, but I don't really see him as being all that grumpy. He's just trying to voice his opinions in a non bullshit way like he does with his music. If people of my generation can understand that (which many can't sadly, because they don't see the poetry in his work), the world would be a much more peaceful and loving place. I love Van.
Van Morrison may well be an introvert but he's extrovert enough for me, thank you very much!! His music has been a huge part of my life for well over 35 years and I was thrilled to be able to attend one of his concerts a few years ago....I had to travel from Australia to UK to see it, but it was worth every penny and every minute! I only wish I could veiw the rest of this interview.
..... it`s great to hear and see at least a little about his musical personality! To me he is simply a living legend. I listen to his music since 1968, and was on 4 concerts (Amsterdam, Munich, ....) ..... does anybody know more about his private life? Guess he`s like "Greta Garbo"...disconnects the telephone.....
I agree formercaliman. MUCH better poet than Dylan. Dylans songs were alot of alagory songs and too is Vans but my man Van,,,,, He paints a picture for ya! Love the ecentric Irishman.
Van remains a true genius whose music trancends any specific genre or category, a unique and wonderful artist. Looking forward to Part Two (request - can you drop the level a bit? This is a bit distorted on Part One....)
How many goddamn intros do we need! Seriously.....

typical US TV - so many breaks, so much presentation, we hear van Morrison talking for about 30 seconds in total...

Why do we love Van and Bob Dylan? Because they're themselves.

I have seen Van 4 times live, and each time has been incredible.
He is the greatest living artist along with Dylan imo.
the difference now is that Van still puts on great shows.
I would give anything to see an Astral Weeks show.
my favorite album ever.
