I am glad that this is going to federal court, the anti-equality arguments are weak sauce and any judge worth their salt should be able to see it as clear discrimination. The reasons listed were all good, but they missed one of the really important ones IMO and that is the story of two hetero brothers in NY who were walking home from a bar, some homophobe thought they were gay and beat both of them resulting in one of them dying and the other one being hospitalized.
Saying that the popularity of films like Brokeback Mountain means that there is no more homophobic discrimination is like saying that the popularity of artists like Louis Armstrong meant that there was no racial discrimination before the civil rights movement.

The two cowboys never ended up together because of one's internal homophobia!!! AND! the other cowboy was brutally murdered by thugs (and the local police covered it up) because he was gay!! Now that is a good example of how gay people are gaining acceptance in this society!!!!

As a freelance historian it is INFURIATING to me to watch religious groups who are re-writing the historical record without any challenge to their claims! EG. "Marriage has been 1 man/ 1 woman for thousands and thousands of years!" when "marriage" was only solemnized by the Church in the year 1250 CE, before which it was purely secular & proof exists that the Church DID solemnize marriages between men on rare occasions!
