This is not a Love & Theft 2001 outtake but a Time out of Mind 1997 outtake. Chronologically Mississippi dates back from the TOOM-sessions. (Three different versions of the song were finally released on Tell Tale Signs in 2008; this is the one from disc nr 3). Dylan was dissatisfied, offered the song to Shery Crow, whose recording of it was prior to Dylans rerecording of it for Love & Theft in 2001.
