there are over 300.000 people born and raised in Greece and are still considered and treated like economic immigrants by the state. No matter how one's parents enter a country, legally or illegally, if one is born in the country automatically should qualify for the citizenship. this is how it works in civilized modern countries. This is how it works in EU. Even in USA with the strict migration laws, if you 're born there, no matter how your parents got in, you 're automatically a USA citizen!
What you say it's called "Jus soli" (when you are born there you take the citizenship). In Greece (AND other countries) till now the law about citizenship is the "Jus sanguinis" (at least one of your parents has to be Greek). You are not authorised to change our laws.
Plus in USA they need "Jus soli" or else only Native Anmericans would be US citizens.
If you enter in a country, any country, illegally you can't have the citizenship no matter what.

Typing mistake I meant Native Americans.
And if you'd like, check on the web for "Jus sanguinis"
