  • I'm joking, I'm joking.

  • thanks for the,,, u being here... u got some nice topics

  • en chile te decian la trucha

un ojo bien y el otro a la chucha jaujaujaujaujaujauajja

    fuck off

  • You're clearly bright - you did do well on your LSAT - so I'm sure you realize this. Until you grow a thicker skin, and are willing to overlook the 99 idiotic comments for every 1 well articulated one, don't touch those issues. At least on youtube.

  • I admire your idealism and your niavete.

You do realize that this is You-general-appeal-to-the-masses-Tube, not You-intelligent-discussion-tube. And also that generally speaking, the masses aren't above ignorant, mean, and plain idiotic dialogue.

An unfortunate side-effect of free-speech... when in an environment that doesn't take intelligent discussion seriously.

  • This is not meant to be sexist at all, but you're cute.

  • ..........im confused, as i am cuban (my people are communsit) i don't really get this video, hehehe sorry...

  • "I don't really know what a feminist is, I just know that I get called one when I don't want to act like a doormat or a prostitute." Can't remember where I read that quote, it may have been someone's page on youtube so sorry if it is. Tis good though me thinks!

  • You just got a new subscriber.

    Your fantastic. =]

  • I also believe in freedom of speech and I agree with you about the level of converstation here in youtube. I belive that everyone who wants to comment on a video should contribute something on what is said on the vids.

I am convince that the internet has more freedom of speech compare to convencional media, but we are not in any way exempt from being intimidate and harass, for what we expressed. For me as an independent journalist and blogger is totally necessary to have thicker skin.

  • Thanks for your comments, GIC81--I love what the internet has done for free speech and democracy too. :)

  • I really hope that this freedom isn't taken away from us and I hope as well that countries like China and Cuba open up and let their citizens make use of this wonderful alternative of comunication.

    Gabriel

  • You could get it.

  • You now have a new subscriber.

  • thank you very much!

  • Thanks so much for being so nice!

  • you're awsome, I like your videos. Good Luck.

  • with a smile like that it hardly seems you're bothered by sexist comments...

  • To eds67. Why do you hate gay marriage? I understand the obesity and the ILLEGAL immigration (I hope you dont think legal immigration should be taken away) but why the gay marriage. That being said I also dont really agree with gay marriages but I dont dislike and it wont really affect me if it happens.

This is a pretty funny vid, nice try but theres too many shit-for-brains people out there for this to have an impact. A valiant effort and an issue that will hopefully be resolved. Hopefully.

  • You don't need thicker skin. Your skin is so beautiful, don't change it!

  • I like your voice.

  • Hi katiedivina you still need to improve more, i give you two thumbs up for the effort, but always look thru the camera and focus on what you would like to say.. Take care

  • Do you need more of thick skin, ask buffalo bill ? He can help you. You sound like one of those freaks that tried to be perfect in every aspects of life. Likewise to someones else comment about quiting youtube if you are annoyed by people making sexist comments. Okay?!!!!!!

  • i hope i didn´t missed the point of this video.byebye

  • well, i think a hate commnt isn´t allways a hate comment.you have to watch who left this hate comment.because there are 2 types of hate comment, those who will be left by people who ALLWAYS and ONLY leave hate comments and in generall those peeps do have an empty channel and then those who are mad, angry, pissed or however about something and leave something kinda unfriendly;).

  • You know what? Post those videos anyway! If you have strong views on anything you should air them - it is your God-given right after all! There may be people out there that disagree with your views - but that shouldn't EVER stop you!!

If you see any hate comments on videos - spam them!! Maybe that will get the message across!!

  • omg, jesus christ!

  • I totally agree with you there are too many sexists in here...

    Btw you're hot!

    :))

  • I keep saying this over and over again to people. Sexual repression=sexual perversion. The less people go out and have sex the more they are going to sit here and waste their time commenting on how hot someone is and thus miss the whole point of their message, as with someone like the resident. Until we deal with this extreme amount of sexual repression men will continue to act stupid and/or as if they actually have an intellectual handle on something they don't.

  • And im gunna say this too, dr. Knowitallcuzimaproudemofag, stop telling people they are sexually repressed when we all know its doctors that try to have the fun without the hassle. Fuck off, ya dickwhore!!!!

  • Dr. Sensitive--I agree that more healthy sex is a good idea for everyone but I don't think that wholly addresses the problem. There's some serious resentment/hate for ladies among the sex-related comments and frankly I don't feel safe prescribing sex to solve those problems!

  • Dr Sensitve is a psychotic pervert. His remedy is actually a symptom of whats wrong in society today.

Healthy sex is not the answer, locical thinking is. Getting to the root of the problem demands more than just viewing it as a battle of the sexes.

  • A battle that mankind will surely win. No contest, whatsoever. Thank you, all betting stations are closed.

  • Battle of the sexes? I am speaking less of the battle of the sexes and more of the unity of them. Try actually reading what someone types before responding out of the holy christian center of your brain.

  • Sir, i resent that you think i am a christian. I actually am, but for all you know i could be a pagan, agnostic, or wiccan and satanist. Battle is won, Dr. Sensitive-emotions, so get over it.

  • >>"Try actually reading what someone types before responding out of the holy christian center of your brain."<<

LOL, whats the matter Doc...not gettng enough God?

  • I am not saying we should use sex as a supplement to important issues we need to deal with and communicate about, I am saying getting sex out of the way will contribute alot to allowing the minds of men to not meander every time a debate begins with a beautiful girl. I

  • The resident is performing a service to humanity by making videos that are intellectually and socially challenging but the conversation on many of her threads dwindles into how hot she is because men do not have enough sex/contact with the opposite gender. This idea I present is more about bringing the yin/yang balance of male and female together in unity so we can get on with our more important activities like political activism and forging ideas that could possibly help change the world.

  • Now, katie, i would't go so far as to say that sexism is the worst thing that can happen to Youtube. Sexism is a form of expression used by most males, including butch lesbians as well and shows to women that we care about ya'll...If you were offended by a sexist comment, thats just a guy's way of saying, "My dear, you have an entrancing glare upon thy sea-green eyes that drowns me in its seductive gaze". Notice how we never really say that stuff in real life? If we DID, we would get called GAY!

  • hardy har Ghaztoir! what a charming interpretation of sexism you have. another bummer about gender relations is that the only way guys have to assert their masculinity is by being "not feminine." At best this means an awkward display of "I AM MAN!" and at worst it manifests in harmful misogyny. Pretty sad either way.

  • Lol, I got burned big time. And I saw that commercial too, that pretty much decribes my ego =D. But now, seriously, sexism is not a "deviant concept involving EXTREME misogyny amongst males". Sexism is a display not unlike the peacock extending its feathers. However, misogyny is a very hurtful phrase, and should not be used unless a man is actually angry at a woman for being a woman...machoism is the term, i believe.

  • it's called trollers, I'd say about 20% of the internet already hates you no matter who you are.

  • I think it really boils down to the same thing: getting used to the fact that not everyone is going to love you and recognize your worth. youtube/competitive law career--getting used to handling yourself without constant positive reinforcement comes out of both places.

  • What the fuck are you talking about?!?!?!

  • escribo en español, por que se que lo hablas, te mando un saludo, entiendo casi perfectamente el ingles, pero no lo escribo muy bien!1

    espero estes bien, bye!!

  • Lesbo liberal commie man hater crosseyed jerk.

  • revell has been blocked--he clearly didn't hear what was said in the video and was not here for sincere discussion.

  • If you want to post a video and minimize to number of people mindlessly ripping into you here is what you do.

Turn off comments and set videos responses to approval only. Then only approve videos with a picture showing a person (no text videos). This make it so anyone who response will have to show you their face which should cut out the hater crap.

  • OOoooo that's telling me. Fuck you empty head.

  • When YOU can't get your way....

right away it MAN BASHING TIME?

If someone is intelligent people will listen.

If you get made fun of, it's because you're stupid and it's your OWN FAULT.

    Don't blame others.

  • SHUT UP REVELL! Katie's right. Revell, you are a sexist pig.

  • i agree with many points you spoke. hey you are the same who speaks spanish.

  • Critique, no matter how vulgar, is never a bad thing. If someone says something you find repulsive then either remove the comment or challenge the person making the comment. Assuming the role of victim only makes you look weaker.

    You are cute BTW.

  • Hi...it's very interesting you point of view...am from Chile, and if you wanna talk someday...sorry, but my english is not very good...I left you my msn...vortical51 hotmail

  • What in the hell is wrong with your eyes?

  • i wish you werent a chick or on youtube ok

  • I had some nast shit said about me online and no one decides on censoring them. Can you tell me why you believe you, as a woman, should get some kind of protection while no one else does?

  • I have no interest in censorship. I like youtube as a free speech forum, warts and all. And I know that hate can effect anyone. But you must have noticed that female vloggers get more of it and worse--no matter what they wear or talk about. And is sucks because sexist comments are frightening and so effectively shut women up. I simply want to support other lady vloggers so that youtube is a positive place for them in spite of ugly comments.

  • You are asking for protection that no other group gets. For example, the word nigger is used quite frequently on here but blacks don't ask to censor them.

  • REPEAT--I don't ask for censorship. I love my free speech, obscenities and all. Still, how many blacks do you see on here, really? It is not a friendly place for them either.

What I ask for awareness of the problem. That people recognize that YT doesn't meet its full potential because of the sexism that turns off women. And I hope that women vloggers (and people who appreciate them) will be courageous and help change the nature of this place by helping each other get past the hate.

  • Interesting point about lack of black participation. I was just pondering this a few minutes ago as I browsed the SouthTube channel and RSVP list--very lily white!

  • if you're 'frightened' by what you read get off of youtube. It's that simple.

  • Hi Katie, I enjoyed your video. It's always nice to find open-minded thoughtful people, willing to approve an issue, to initiate a discussion and to keep it in progress. Hope to see some more. By the way, best regards to a future professional colleague of me! Good luck for your thesis! ;o)

  • You are a girl in a porn filled environment, overpopulated by bunch of horny guys. It's not about hate, it's about the inability to control oneself from making sexual remarks because it's the first thing on peoples minds.

You can complain about it or you can do what other girls do. DONT INVITE IT. Wear unrevealing, clothes. Dont make out with the camera, and dont make vids about sexually stimulating subject matter. Im sure you have RL friends you can discuss that stuff with.

  • Your solution is exactly the problem I'm talking about--girl vloggers don't participate in politics or real debate because the hate is so bad. That's self-censorship and it is unacceptable--no progress, no real conversation comes from that. I know the internet is for porn. The doesn't mean it can't be for other stuff too.

  • Well Ive seen plenty of great video's featuring chicks that contain little to no sexist remarks, because they make efforts to avoid it in the videos they produce.

I know it's unfair but im just saying, if you dont want too much sexist feedback make the atmosphere less inviting for the horny (not hateful) guys that plague the internet. Same reason why companies create professional work environments and institute dress codes.

  • OH, so men have absolutely no control over themselves when they see an ill-produced comment and they just can't help themselves cause they're just uncivilized animals?

Oh, ok. Just wanted to get that straight.

  • Wow...wow..

  • Uh, they obviously can that's why there are a lot that do. What Im saying is there are many that chose not to. Considering the fact that it's impossible to prevent them from making sexist remarks, my advice is to take steps on your end to avoid them.

Pretty elementary concept imo, the fact that it surprises you is fairly disturbing because it's nothing new.

  • Sarcasm not being your strong suit, aside, there's not really anything you can "do" to 'avoid' them other than just not have comments. It's not the fault of the female vloggers that this is happening to them. The quicker you get that, the better.

  • Well reading comprehension must not be your strong suit because as I said earlier there ARE stuff you can do to avoid a lot of them.

Yes it's the fault of the posters for making the remarks. But part of the blame can be put on the vlogger who carelessly attracts them. Because again as Ive said, Ive seen plenty of video's featuring females that receive little to no sexist feedback.

  • really? I've never seen that. and it didn't matter what the vlogger was wearing or talking about. This is bigger than just your personal experience, so please let's stop blaming the vlogger. That's just as lame as "she was wearing a short skirt officer!" Ugh.

  • That's why it's common sense not to walk around a dangerous neighborhood with with a short skirt. The same way it's common sense not to post sexual stimulating material on the porn capital of the world if you dont want sexist feedback.

Yeah it's 100% the fault of the responder, but if you can take precautions to avoid it as much as possible then DO IT, because you arent gonna have much luck stopping them.

  • I can't believe anyone would say rude comments to you because you have a sweet personality from what I see.

  • Glad you've added another intelligent voice to this discussion. Women are caught between a rock and a hard place here. You're cajoled to present yourself attractively as a pre-requisite for almost anything, then exposed to harassment for it. I can only hope that some of the 42,000 hits on your bikini challenge stayed around to see at least one of your serious vids.

  • it's kind of ridiculous that one minute of a girl standing in a bikini earns 42,000 views...it's really not so special! The fact that I lost weight and wore a bikini yet still have something to say might be unfathomable for some people--all the better. :)

  • Women should be caught up in rock.

  • Perhaps you should lock out responses on "hot" topics, and leave responses on for less provocative material? At least until you've gotten acclimated to the taunts of loser boys who can't put up anything more useful than Final Fantasy cheats.

  • The easiest way to get a discussion like that started without people posting hateful comments? Start it anyway and don't let those comments bother you. If someone posts something hateful, ignore it. Only respond to people who post serious discussion, use your attention as a reward for people who actually respond constructively.

  • GhostCow--what you mentioned is definitely the approach that I like the best--positive reinforcement. If I can use it to train my parrot, I should be able to use it to train youtubers! :P

  • Go ahead and post them! I'm about to post a video on my views of abortion as well. If anyone posts too evil of hate comments, just delete them.

  • hehe, NP I was just messing.. =)

  • I like how you start off your video saying "as a chick on youtube." Is that not sort of sexist?

  • tongue in cheek, my friend, tongue in cheek.

Women, chicks, ladies might as well poke fun at the stuff we put up with. :)

  • Yeah I think it's pretty clear this whole talk about sexism isn't about the PC version of sexism where calling a women a chick is wrong. It's the truly offensive stuff like this which I quoted from the theresident comments "fucking whore needs to shut the fuck up ".

  • Elk--Thank you for getting it! :) It's definitely not about being PC--it's about the fact that women feel like they can't participate on youtube because the hate comments against women are so severe. Also, I'm in East Maine some 100 miles from any town with more than 2000 people right now. You live in a beautiful place!

  • Plenty of woman particpate on youtube. Plenty of guys also participate. Learnig to deal with, and answering, the hate is part of the game. If you're afraid of posting your opinions it's because you're unsure of your opinion.

  • Well there's a little button called 'remove' that even the dumbest youtuber can access. There's also the option of asking that person why they should 'shut thefuck up.' If someone(regardless of gender) wants to curl up and play the victim rather than stand fast then they deserve to be cast into the digital netherland.

  • And don't forget to ban them to. Otherwise they will come back leave more crap comments.

  • Posting friends only videos sounds like a good idea to me too, Katie.

  • Hey, good stuff. It sounds like you know that any nasty/weird comments only get a few minutes thought by the poster - including video watching time, then the poster probably has completely forgotten about the video/comment an hour later, or if not, the next day.

  • i totally agree with you. when i posted my video response to faintstarlite about the health care system in america i got so many horrible comments that absolutely nothing to do with the topic! just personal attacks at me.

but i also quite like the thick-skin i've acquired through this site.

  • I saw the comments on your health care system video! jeepers. I hope you'll keep posting about the stuff you care about in spite of anonymous jerks. I love seeing you branch out. :)

  • If it's any consolation to you I got a lot of hate from responding to that same video, so it's not just women who are targeted. I support Katie, Melissa, Laurie and James here because I believe any time you protect the rights of a particular group of people, in the long run we protect all of our rights.

  • Perhaps you could dip your toe in the feminist waters by making your videos, but posting them for friends only, and only accept as friends those you feel you can trust with your more sensitive topics. Then if you get comfortable with that, you could release certain ones for general viewing.

  • Well said Katie.
