I feel like i understand what your getting at; the ability to step back inside your mind as you commit actions that you don't identify with internally.

@fygilia Hi Fygilia, Good to hear from you. The very best/easiest place to "get" this information is a book called, "Practicing the Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It's a primmer for the bigger picture. Let me know if you have further questions. My own sex addiction book will be out this spring, but don't wait for that. Tolle's good.

I fear for all the unsuspecting young boys and men who will inevitably get drawn into the quicksand/slippery slope of pornography (mainly through the internet), and end up spending themselves chasing the ghosts of something once pure in their hearts, but now twisted, into the darkness. I fear for the girls and women too; we're all affected by this in defferent ways: individuals, relationships, families, societies.

Grown men in love with pictures... This man sees it all too clearly. When he mentioned the ones who gratify themselves up to ten times a day, I was reminded of a video my freind told me about that he had seen in his 1st year psyc class. The gist I got was that rats had wires hooked up to the pleasure centers in their brains, and they would receive stimulation every time they pushed a button located in their cage.

The rats would just keep pushing the button and not bother to eat or drink until they were dead. We humans seem to develop the same behaviour under the right (wrong) conditions. Not all junkies are drug users.

Good comment. You're right. These men are suffering from "euphoric recall." That amazing moment when, as boys, they found the porn or saw a naked girl, or? That's a big deal for a boy. IF you have someone to talk to about it...IF you get "the good talk" then...you grow up respecting sex and understanding intimacy. If not...you grow up objectifying and sexualizing and trying, unsuccessfully, to reproduce that euphoric moment. It's a sad state of affairs. Not many boys get the good talk.

My husband committed suicide because of sexual addiction. He spent 8 years in prison because of this and he never raped or touched anyone. He got treatment for years from the best psychiatrists and counseling services in the country. I recently learned that t he politians in the state of Rhode Island are infected with greed and have made prostitution/strip clubs etc. legal as long as it is kept indoors. Politicians preying on people's weaknesses then locking them up is a crime. Why to death

George, Please stay strong and keep reaching out to help folks with this weakness. The nature of such people is that they are the most sensitive, kind, tender, loving individuals one could ever know. Unfortunately, reality is not their strength preferring fantasy to the real world. Don't ever give up trying to reach them. Life is too precious to feel that the only way out is death. Love is the key. Embrace it now while there is still breath.

Teresa, I am able to follow you. I have a tendency not to think more than what meets the eye. it is a matter of trust. that people outside can scheme like these.... I was so far very sorry that my addiction has damaged my life. not I am more sensitive.. that I now know it can drive a person to end his life. stay strong and yes. I decide to be helpful to men I come across.

Truthfully, if my husband (who was a deacon and preached on Sunday from the pulpit), if he had lived his faith, he would never have committed suicide. His final words to me via the cell phone was "God knows my heart, he won't hold me responsible for my suicide. Everyone has to die sometime and I am choosing my time and that is now'. He took God's place in this. . no matter what his future may have been, he didn't have the right to take his own life. I pray he is with the Lord

Yes, it always amazes me how people "prey" on one another, motivated by greed. In THIS instance in the name of "entertainment." How pathetic. What a horrible mess has been made of sex in this way. I'm not goin' out of business anytime soon. Thank you for your comment. Best, George

I feel in two ways about this. I am split. One thing is anger about how the values involved in sexuality are reversed, the polarities reversed and what a huge mess they have all made, the no of divorces and suicides and the emotional and monetary drain these people have caused. The other, which has been evolving off late since I gave up religion. I laugh at myself. for buying it. I am the idiot not they. The porn industry sold themselves short and I just could not help capitalizing their offer.

I came across two psycho analytical books that are doing me good and so I want to share them. one is 'born to win' and the other is 'I am ok and u r Ok'. they both talk of a tool called transactional analysis that helps us in understanding how our mind functions. I hope it helps.

Much of what we come across as porn and advertisements etc are 'scripts' handed over to us. we are made to feel extremely inadequate if we can not live by these scripts. TA helps us break the cycle. it teaches us to identify scripts and reality and helps us feel validated without having to enact scripts. I think this is a huge break through compulsivity

I have been doing TA for nearly 3 weeks now and I totally recommend it. I begin to understand Sex as a simple transaction, a dialogue through touch between two TA Child, monitored and facilitated by the TA aDULT. I am no longer repulsed by porn or sex videos. I am able to see through them, gather a penetrating vision, and see the implied, twisted dialogues that make them. Like any other transaction, sex must have an original goal, an original end.

Otherwise, we keep borrowing script from porn, movies etc and strive, gullibly, to achieve 'THE PEAK' which is really hard to find. We can learn through TA how to keep the TA child healthy through career, sports etc and allocate our more finite values to sexual intimacy. I am also able to see how I have got lost over the years, from what age I began to deviate etc.. It is very detailed vision and I wish you find TA helpful too. spread the word!.

I think there is no way to stop the porn industry from producing more and more. Impractical though it may seem, change must take one person a time. There is no other way. let it take centuries, but it will be irreversible change. porn is just tip of the iceberg. It is just an unbecoming effect. The problem is power. How people exercise power over another using money.

My worst regret is that I used to think of porn as a proof of assertivenss, the people who particilpate are being assertive, they want to live their life... It is pathetically gullible of me. The behavior is exactly the opposite. suicidal. Those people have lost all hopes of success, love and a freely breathing spirit and only after losing it have jumped into the business.

Its kinda like the diffence in conversation at an SAA meeting and that of standing in line at wataburger. Thats kinda how this whole world in sex feels. Porn is the most looked at thing on the internet but how many porn addicts do you know. Well maybe not u but aside from saa none in person.
