I'm not going to criticize the sport, but they need to do several things to even be considered for the Olympics. They need one design first and foremost, and they need to solve the problem of NO wind days.

@iBen4G A kitesurfer currently holds the world speed sailing record. And another kitesurfer holds the second place speed sailing record... and another one has the third. Honestly kitesurfing has simply eliminated unnecessary and bulky sailing equipment and added a third dimension to it. No sailor could ever match the speed and intensity of kitesurfing.
