I did the arrangement based on the Bulgarian Women's Choir recording that I heard. I can gladly send you the chart, but it is only the structure of the choir, and the jazz band part is added by verbal instruction.

A lot of commentors take things way too seriously, I think. I like the original Voix Bulgares one too, but this is something else, and the sax is brilliant as well as the singing, and the sound is not too bad, either. Thank you!

I can't see any clear connection between the fog and that there was a big wedding.The Bulgarian folklore songs don't usually have many words but there is much symbolism. So,there could be 10 words but you could make a long description of the song's meaning if you know how.Sometimes,it turns out that sentences that at first sight seem to be stupid,are really meaningful.Unfortunately,I'm not a symbolist and I can't really explain the song.

I couldn't post my previous comment...Doesn't matter. The song is called "Wedding". They sing about a big boyar's wedding. The also say there was fog. In the way they sing, they are actually talking to Stoyan (that's a Bulagrian male name). That "Stoyane le" means something like "Hey, Stoyan".

Mostly 4ths in this song. It is also about the way they sing it, almost throaty voice that create that effect.

throat singing is actually the name that they give to the type of vocals they use.

I think specifically "Throat singing" is another type of singing technique, that would create overtones and multi-phonic effect. Tuvan singers and Ainu traditional music are great in this.

yes, there is a great recording of Bulgarian Womens choir and Huun Huur Tu, call Fly Fly my Sorrow. Arrangement by Misha Alperin. Great great stuff. In fact this music was featured in a Canadian-Inuit Movie, Fast Runner. The music is very suitable for the movie.

Read something from Wiki that, Bulgaria and Tuva shares the same ancestor trait, the Bulgarian moved from Asia Minor to East europe 1000 years ago, thus they were actually close relatives.

Nevertheless, interesting stuff.

This group was put together for my recital. But the original band that I got the song from is simply called Bulgarian Women's Choir(or Bulgarian State Radio Women's Choir). They have put out some great CDs, you should be able to find them by google the choir.

I love this original song, and this is certainly a unique take on it! The singers do a great job and that's a pretty darned good group of players. I hope they had as much fun as it looked like they did. Bravo to all concerned.
