  • what is there to say the lyrics say it all on everything he sings and writes end of conversation emh

  • The Piano solo is absolutely beautiful

  • @hughdavis1985 as is that great "burry" guitar solo near the end

  • I must add though..Van Morrison is top of the pile imo.

  • Love Van, love this track and really the lad or lassie that posted this with the in sync lyric..fantastic...while I'm here look up Candy Dulfer 'Let's get it on'.

She used to play sax with Van and she has taken up his philosophy in the fact that she surrounds herself with top musicians. Vocalists are Roger Happell and Moon Baker, guitarist is Ulco Bed..the track is unbelievable and I assure you, you will never hear a better live vocal..Roger Happell in particular...enjoy!

  • I play this one when I need peace ... works every time.

  • for a grumpy wee mon he's certainly magic

  • I miss you Julie

  • MÁS QUE PERFECTA , NO ES POSIBLE HACER UNA DESCRIPCIÓN_ HIMNO AL SILENCIO - .. "PRENDER LA VELA POR LOS DOS LADOS...." SUCH A FEELING

  • you did a beautiful job with your video - thank you so much

  • The spirituality in his lyrics is so profound even though he had "no method , no guru and no teacher". Chop wood and carry water Van the man, you are a legend and a man whos soul knows great depths.

  • IMHO his finest hour and a half, curiously the jap mini LP SHM cd edition got pulled at the last minute, guess some things are worth waiting for a little bit longer.

  • splendid...such a lovely tune! Thanks!

  • Is it possible to name one of Van's songs better than another. I know I say it all the time then hear another then another. The problem is this is a master of his craft we see so few of them. I love this song but the man has written so so many great songs. Fir me he is the best in music of my generation only Jackson Browne comes close. Thanks for this posting its beautiful on so many levels.

  • @jacksons1950 your so right, van and jackson brown along with bruce springstein are the top 3 in my stable

  • Thanks for posting the song.....

  • to say this is his best is a personal opinion for to me (In the Garden is one of the best songs ever song!!) now this one Hymns to the silence is a Master piece.....

  • I love "Celtic Ray" with the Chieftains as well as "Rave on John Donne", among others of course. Great Poet, Singer, Musician, Artist, and Soul......Best Poet of our time, in my opinion.

  • @johnnyhempseed84

"YOU SIR, Are obviously very wise man!"

    His peace & Love.

MERRY CHRIST_MAS TO EVERYONE, as well.

  • This album turned me on to Van Morrison. What a sweet introduction. One of my favorite Van albums and I now have most all of them.

  • this is an incredible piece, from what i heard Van played most of the instrumentals and mixed it all with his vocals. PROFOUND. waleli7

  • Is there any chance some kind soul might post 'Virgo Clowns'?

  • WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT VAN!!!

  • Not one of his finest efforts too repetitive you know, you know, you know, you know.

  • @meckoat ...."What? Are you kidding ??

Listen again ...This extraordinary piece is all about a

repetitive cry or moanings of the soul & heart........

Maybe you have never known that aching for your

true love that is apart from you.

    God Bless

  • this is without a doubt the best Van morrrave ison song ever... along with the live version of "rave on john don"

  • @hughdavis1985 you speak great truth

  • @hughdavis1985 Oh I don't know if I'd go that far he's got SOOOO many other greats

  • @hughdavis1985 Sayin' good!

  • this is wonderful to go to sleep to peacefully...

  • Thank the powers- that- be that you haven't always sung your hymns to the silence. Are you granted the personal appreciation of how your particular genius affects millions of people? I am constantly smitten. You awe me with your Soul, and I find myself wishing a bit of what you grant was meant for me, personally. I am helpless, however, to reciprocate. Except to say that I'm Much Obliged.

  • @mar30139 You said it perfectly. You wrote what has been in my heart, but not able to put on paper.

  • The whole Cd is perfect...............

  • Love this song.

  • van morrison is part of a class of performers that goes beyond the expected, the easy-to-sell-albums, like Stevie Wonder, Duke Ellington, Patsy Cline, and many (but not enough) more.

  • One of the best Van the man songs

  • Most of what Van does is great...but the Hymns to the Silence CDs have been my favorite since it came out.....simply beautiful!

  • I remember when this Van Morrison released this song.......WOW!!! What a statement....The Words, The Meaning, The Depth.....I love this song......

  • beautiful song!!
