Pearl Jam is mall music for people who previously never listened to good music and listed to late 80s/early 90s pop crap and never considered distorted guitars before. My XM radio is not working this week and I had to turn on some classic rock and mullet rock station. This afternoon, I turned it on and LITERALLY some just unlistenable shit of Kid Rock singing over another song was on, followed by "Evenflow." Pearl Jam is for the tasteless.
I've seen the original VanHalen 6 times and Mike Anthony WAS the backing vocals,all those high notes you hear on the albums or CD are Mike.Wolfgang doesn't impress me at all and I've been playing the axe for over 20 years.

Plus i think that if they kick the big Wolfie's ass and bring on Sammy and Mike Anthony to this band then they would be rocking the entire world, as they did in the final 70's and almost all the 80's. trust me... i went to the Greensboro concert (2nd on the tour) and it was fucking unbelievable. I must say, BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER FUCKING SEEN!!!! They were like their old selves, i mean Eddie actually uses REAL cables (not wireless) so he sorta has to stay within like 50 ft. of his side of the stage... and Wolfie's just a bit nervous!! haha, it should be a good concert for you!

Hate to break it to you but Van Halen with Hagar SUUUXXXSSS. It's awful corporate rock. Even at his atonal worst Roth is 5-10 times cooler. There isn't one Van Hagar song that holds a candle to the best Van Halen.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this. They sound fine. They are hitting the high notes in the background vocals and Dave sounds ok-vocalists who scream like he did are lucky to have a voice left at all. And they all look great too.

Wolfgang actually sounds pretty good doing the backround vocals. That was my biggest worry seing them without Michael Anthony. Can't wait for the Clevelend show on the 10th of Oct. Very surprised Dave swallowed his pride and they did Vh-Hagar songs. Like Sammy said at the Rock Hall induction ceremonies: "Maybe we will all grow-up some day, including myself, and do a tour for all of the fans"
I just hope they come out with a live cd of this historic event so that the rest of the rockin free world can get a taste. late 70s early 80s VH was my favorite band. Eddie changed the way rock guitar was played with his right hand on the fretboard technique. Sadly this tour seems like the "Lets get PAID" tour.
VH pure and simple was the soundtrack and lifestyle for me, It mirrored what we were doing then, DOA... and now Beautiful Girls... also my personal favorite is "Why behave in public if you're living on a playground" .. "Fools"

Look at the last Van Hagar tour compared to the way they're ripping it up, now ... they were playing to half houses, now they're selling out in minutes ... the long time fans know what they want. I agree... the 6 albums with Roth (They played more from VHI but played songs from all 6 albums) just blow away the few good songs from Van Hagar that are mixed in with the rest of the sap and cheese... Balance has got to be their worst album. Eddie said he has songs tucked away... time to break them out and work with Roth to kick out some good-time lyrics and make the magic happen again! I hope to see them again in concert this tour.

Here here... I had to go to Charlotte to see them. I was surprised to see no Florida dates on the schedule either. I'm going to try to make time to see them again this tour maybe out in San Diego. By then Wolfie should be a seasoned veteran and working the stage better. Some of the magic was missing of course w/o MA, how could it not be, but the backup vocals were there and while not as animated, Wolfie's bass playing got the job done. Go see history in the making!

No, Ed is still smoking to some extent. He lit one up a couple times. He even came out at the last minute with a cigarette and started playing his first part of ice cream man without the guitar strap around his neck but found a spot and slipped it on and then hit the lead! Then once he had a cig in his mouth and fell on the floor and blew smoke rings and then blew the cig out and spun around on the ground while he was playing!

Actually Gary just didn't fit with VH. You know nothing about VH.
Nobody would have succeeded after Sammy had left. Ed and Al did such a stupid thing bringing Roth back for 2 new songs then getting a new lead singer because it got the fans all excited for Roth.
Then they get Cherone. It was a failure before it even started. But to say Gery sucked....is wrong. It's your opinion ...but he didn't suck.

trust me... i went to the Greensboro concert (2nd on the tour) and it was fucking unbelievable. I must say, BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER FUCKING SEEN!!!! They were like their old selves, i mean Eddie actually uses REAL cables (not wireless) so he sorta has to stay within like 50 ft. of his side of the stage... and Wolfie's just a bit nervous!! haha, it should be a good concert for you!

Hate to break it to you but Van Halen with Hagar SUUUXXXSSS. It's awful corporate rock. Even at his atonal worst Roth is 5-10 times cooler. There isn't one Van Hagar song that holds a candle to the best Van Halen.

Duuude, you are SO right, Van Hagar managed to turn themselves into Sammy's watered down drivelling about some beach somewhere. ED was stifled by that bollocks. with DLR, the band had an energy between all 4 members, such a damn shame that Mike ain't there but we can't have it all. Van Hagar didn't write one great song, they were all spectacularly average.

Rolling Stone was interviewing Micheal Anthony and they ask him if the rumor of him not recording in the studio was true and he said yes, that is true, Eddie does all the bass in the studio recordings, .....I guess Eddie is a control freak, I would never of believed it if I hadn't read it. I'm pleasantly surprised by this. They sound fine. They are hitting the high notes in the background vocals and Dave sounds ok-vocalists who scream like he did are lucky to have a voice left at all. And they all look great too.

Wolfgang actually sounds pretty good doing the backround vocals. That was my biggest worry seing them without Michael Anthony. Can't wait for the Clevelend show on the 10th of Oct. Very surprised Dave swallowed his pride and they did Vh-Hagar songs. Like Sammy said at the Rock Hall induction ceremonies: "Maybe we will all grow-up some day, including myself, and do a tour for all of the fans"

late 70s early 80s VH was my favorite band. Eddie changed the way rock guitar was played with his right hand on the fretboard technique. Sadly this tour seems like the "Lets get PAID" tour.

Look at the last Van Hagar tour compared to the way they're ripping it up, now ... they were playing to half houses, now they're selling out in minutes ... the long time fans know what they want. Though I would have loved to see the original line up, Michael Anthony has had his head up Hagar's ass too long to fit into the 'Classic' line up, again ... If they bombed, he'd be laughing saying he was glad he wasn't a part of it, but they didn't ... obviously.

Mike chose his own path with sammy. It wasn't like he didn't get paid. They bought him OUT of the band. Seems like the 16 year old doesn't have a problem picking Mikes simple bass lines or even his tough to sing backgrounds vocals. Mike can go sing When its love and the rest of the cheesy Hagar written garbage. Go listen to balance and tell me that the Hagar years were better then the Roth years. I agree... the 6 albums with Roth (They played more from VHI but played songs from all 6 albums) just blow away the few good songs from Van Hagar that are mixed in with the rest of the sap and cheese... Balance has got to be their worst album. Eddie said he has songs tucked away... time to break them out and work with Roth to kick out some good-time lyrics and make the magic happen again! I hope to see them again in concert this tour.

Here here... I had to go to Charlotte to see them. I was surprised to see no Florida dates on the schedule either. I'm going to try to make time to see them again this tour maybe out in San Diego. By then Wolfie should be a seasoned veteran and working the stage better. Some of the magic was missing of course w/o MA, how could it not be, but the backup vocals were there and while not as animated, Wolfie's bass playing got the job done. Go see history in the making!

No, Ed is still smoking to some extent. He lit one up a couple times. He even came out at the last minute with a cigarette and started playing his first part of ice cream man without the guitar strap around his neck but found a spot and slipped it on and then hit the lead! Then once he had a cig in his mouth and fell on the floor and blew smoke rings and then blew the cig out and spun around on the ground while he was playing!
