It's freedom "of" religion. If it was freedom "from" religion (and I'm assuming that implies that no religion was allowed) we would be under a communist dictatorship. The beauty of America is that you get to choose what you want to believe in. Regardless of what you believe, trust me it's better to have freedom "of" religion for many reasons. Weren't the founding fathers Christians themselves? Or at least most of them. I don't think the documents included a specific religion because they didn't want religious persecution like what happened between the Catholics and Protestants back in England. This is an absurd waste of time. Kathy Griffin was not censored because she said Jesus had nothing to do with her award - if she would've stopped there, it would've aired just fine. What she revealed on Larry King explains the real reason - She intentionally said what she did for the express purpose of being offensive, and acknowledges that her sole motivation was to get her name plastered all over the place. If her GOAL was to be offensive and she didn't get censored, wouldn't that be off...?

It's freedom "of" religion. If it was freedom "from" religion (and I'm assuming that implies that no religion was allowed) we would be under a communist dictatorship. The beauty of America is that you get to choose what you want to believe in. Regardless of what you believe, trust me it's better to have freedom "of" religion for many reasons. And a final note, God loves you unconditionally whether or not you love him back. He want's you to love him back, but ultimately it is your choice.

This country was NOT founded on christianity. The documents refer to GOD, or Creator, not the christian god of abraham.
The Treaty of Tripoli, ART. 11 should clear this up for you.
The 10 commandments are copied from earlier sources than your bible. Many societies and religions had such rules for many thousands of years.

Weren't the founding fathers Christians themselves? Or at least most of them. I don't think the documents included a specific religion because they didn't want religious persecution like what happened between the Catholics and Protestants back in England. They believed in tolerance of people with different ideas. But I'm sure that America was founded on Christian ideals. And may God Bless America and the entire World. I pray that Jesus guides all of America's decisions. We'll be far better off.

I think people should realize that Kathy Griffin's freedom of speech was not violated. She said what she said without any consequence; the networks have the right to censor whatever they want. That's why people sign contracts. Read the small print. As for what she said, not only was it NOT funny nor clever in any way, but it was purposefully meant to offend a group of people. Had she said, "Suck it black people," I think you wouldn't be defending her first amendment rights.

What if Brahma is the real god? Then you're just as screwed as I am. The choice is not between your god and no god, but among all the gods of all the world's religions. So your chances of being right are not 1:1, but more like 1:50000. Poor odds.

Its very easy to call yourself a Christian, but any real Christian has to understand that they cannot hate Cathy for what she said, they cannot boo her, or insult her, they cannot even be offended by her, infact, if they are true believers, then they cannot even judge her, all they can do is thank her for the good she has gone, and be happy for her achievments, and hope that they themselves would be forgiven for anything bad which they say or do...

Funny, Freedom to Fascism was on youtube and it is probably the most important doc made. The version I saw of 23 minutes, was of him being interviewed by a lady without all the special effects. I will be here when you need me. The hardest thing for me as a Christian was to love my enemies as myself. Not anymore, after watching 23 minutes in hell it all made sense. I now would not want anyone to go there, I understand why after torture, beatings and being nailed to a cross Jesus said "forgive them Father for they no not what they do." He knew where they were heading and of coarse he couldn't bare to have anyone go there. Now, nor can I.
