Nice, but you got anny clue how do u use the mic on desume? with the re-recording action. I got to a place were u got to blow in the mic and ï`m lost :S
*On the right half of the page shows emulators, go to :
DS emulators (DeSmuME),
1st page of DeSmuME emulator development topic.
And right click on 'here' and save target as from:
"For now, it can be found here. "
You'll download a Zip file that will contain a Desmume Emulator with Re-recording features. It doesn't let you play Phantom Hourglass at 100% but if you record an AVI and play it back, it would be 100%.
No roms and emulators doesn't cost anything. However it's illegal to download a rom game that you do NOT own a original copy. For example I don't have Megaman ZX so it's illegal for me to download the rom.
Just go to google and search a 'insert game name' Rom.
For emulators 'instert Console name' emulator.
There's some online sites and the TASvideos forums on how to use the rom and emulator.
Emulators have AVI recording as an option so you make a movie file, after it is created you then play back the movie file. When it is playing you go to the Emulator's options and start AVI recording.
(2nd reply) for real consoles that did not use the emulator you use a DVD recorder or a capture card/device. Gameboy games can be recorded from real systems from the Gameboy player.
The DS is the only system so far that does not have a "On the big screen" accessory so you can't record directly (other than using a modfifed Capture device or the Emulator).
Note: Emulators are banned in Speed Demos Archive and cannot be submitted. Although it's useful for route planning, etc.
You don't need a camera at all, to make a TAS you'll need a emulator that has Re-recording features (Slow speed, frame advance, save states) and a Rom (game file) to play it on. No cameras requiresd.
There were some errors like my first segment of the prototype speed run. I think I could shave off 5 minutes more possibly aiming for sub 3:35 or even sub 3:30.
There are 2 different capture devices. One of them is the Nitro Capture device which is only used by major game makers (Nintendo, EA, Konami, SEGA) and gaming website reviewers (Gamespot, Gametrailers, IGN).
You are intelligent at modding it's possible to make your own homemade capture device.
A few youtubers like:
Buoysel and 4344739 have posted some videos by using the device.
TSA an ex-speed runner & Zelda fan made a walkthrough on Phantom Hourglass with his homemade device.

You're kinda new to direct capturing aren't you.
Emulators have AVI recording as an option so you make a movie file, after it is created you then play back the movie file. When it is playing you go to the Emulator's options and start AVI recording.

Just a quick question:
In your prototype run you beat in ~3:40
What do you think this TAS can achieve?
CaptainX24 2 years ago
That's a good question.
There were some errors like my first segment of the prototype speed run. I think I could shave off 5 minutes more possibly aiming for sub 3:35 or even sub 3:30.
Greenalink 2 years ago
Oh. Either way, good luck! I can't wait for more parts.
CaptainX24 2 years ago
are you going to continue it??

PeterTheEvilTediz 2 years ago
This is a Tools Assisted speed run. I have no intention of remaking my "real time" speed run until I aquire a DS capture device.

There's a DS capture device? What's it called?

Yes it is faster. You can see the change of speed when Link starts to roll. :)
