Your Kanten recipe is wrong, I had to use 8 g of agar for 500 ml of water, using only 4 g proved to produce unusable Kanten, hope you correct it =)

from what I understand, agar is basically this seaweed extract that's the asian (and vegetarian) equivalent of gelatin. so i suppose you could just make very solid jell-o.
