Ultimately, it has been the best thing that ever happened to me on many levels. Hurricane Agatha hit in June two days after I got there, but by the grace of God myself & those near & dear made it through (although others did not). In the USA I learned how to work and make money; in Guatemala I have learned how to pray. Sometimes that's all we have left. I feel for you.

What they're not telling you is the ocean is thriving with bacteria that eats the oil and that ocean floor crevices are constantly leaking oil into the ocean every day of the year.

This is an old video. The oil you see is no more. Most have been eaten up by bacteria and the rest just evaporates. Don't worry, it's just a little oil. Nature has it's ways to clean things up naturally just like a giant natural forest fire. Sure it burns entire forests down much larger than this oil spill, yet nature recovers from it easily. Then on the flip side he said if you can't boil the water drink it any way cause you are sure to die if you dehydrate the hope is you will get medical attention when you are found and that you are found prior to getting the squirts. Industry saves many but probably cause cancer to those living near it's impossible to predict .

@cdltpx When the economy crashed in the states, I moved to Central America. Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala to be specific. Ultimately, it has been the best thing that ever happened to me on many levels. Hurricane Agatha hit in June two days after I got there, but by the grace of God myself & those near & dear made it through (although others did not). In the USA I learned how to work and make money; in Guatemala I have learned how to pray. Sometimes that's all we have left. I feel for you.

I would agree with you if you said that some but you mentioned "The Gulf States" meaning all. I have to say yes they are easier to a point and I have you know that not all of us are in poverty. There are 47,000 old capped oil wells on the floor of the Gulf.The oil companies can state the wells are not abandoned they are 'temperary' abandoned.So they never inspect the caps. The Federal and Gov employees and elected officials that allowed oil companies to regulate themselves should be charged with Treason. They have given away americas coastline and wildlife to the oil companies. Yet the Gulf states have the worse school systems and worse roads-a huge group of people in poverty.

Actually the Gov is clueless when it comes to nature (except for maybe NOAA). We already seen that before. I guess the rest of the world is looking on though while we fight it. What maybe they don't realize, that once this hits the gulf stream, if it has not already, It is going to spread everywhere. If you google the gulf stream, you will see the gulf stream flows right to the U.K.'s front door..

So this LEAK is destroying wildlife. If the Government had responded quicker, if the govt. had accepted help from the skimmer ships from foreign nations, if the govt. had authorized local authorities to make sand berms sooner/quicker, the damage to wildlife would have been reduced a lot.
How come nobody here is ticked off at the government's INEPTITUDE and slowness in their response to this leak?

Odd...the estimates for this leak range from 5 to 10 TIMES the EXXON VALDEZ spill, and it hasn't stopped leaking yet.
This is just one domestic oil well. We have many other wells that produce much more oil.
With so much oil at home, how come our GASOLINE PRICES KEEP RISING?

What is the logic to the oil for the Earth? Shock-absorbers for the tectonic plates, and for meteor impacts so the crust doesnt crack. The planet’s finite reserves of oil will be gone in 2057...its gonna to be a bumpy ride in the coming times.

This leak is a disaster. A big slap on mother natures face. However, it is a bit poetic that this happened to the country that opposed the Kyoto proctocol, been waging wars and corrupted countries all across the globe in order to collect oil. Might I add that the US is consuming most oil in the world? 2007 facts:
United States: 20,680,000 bbl/day (population approx 300 million)
China: 7,578,000 bbl/day (population approx 1300 million)
Not good!

1. US opposes Kyoto protocol for economic reasons, but many climate scientists have also demonstrated that the effect of human-generated CO2 on climate is grossly overstated by the GAIA/GREEN/MARXIST movement.
2. Europe, Japan, & China all import vast amounts of oil but rely on our military to police the Mideast.
3. The entire world uses 85 million barrels per day, so US consumption is about 24% of global. Please check facts before you post!

@bboucharde 1. The same economic reasons you mention does not just apply the US. Every country in this planet has to make a sacrifice. If you choose to disregard the fact that we have a global climate issue at hand then what can i say?
2. The mideast is a very complex problem. No one asked them to police the mideast. The US executed their plan and now has to deal with the aftermath. You can't perform coup d'egras and mess aroud with souverign states worldwide without expecting retaliation.
