  • I have this same player just got it from hhgregg electronics new.I hooked it up to my 1080p 40inch westinghouse lcd hd tv and the quality of blurays dvds are not as vibrant as i would have thought,it looks just a regular dvd just richer color it does not give that pop affect like its being filmed live sorta like a soap opera if you know what i mean, please let me know what setting you have it set to so i can try this casue im a bit frustrate its not as hd as everyone is saying.please let me know

  • @shawnstar86 maybe its because of your tv. your tv should be 120hz (Sony calls it motion flow, while LG calls it TruMotion. I have LG 120hz tv @ 32inch and movies looks like telenovela or telecines. You should replace your tv like that which im sure, all of your movies will pop out. Your viewing experience will definitely change. I call it poor mans 3d movie. hehehe!

  • question, if you use Netflix, how is the quality?

  • does the bd550 play .MKV files from a NTFS formatted external hard drive? (not the US version, but the European one)

  • Good review, sold me on buying it.

  • Hey guys, I need your help!

I live in Region 2 (Bulgaria in particular) and I don't have the "netcast" option on my LG BD550 player? Is there any way I can turn it on?

  • Anyone know how to make this multi region for dvds

  • Got mine from wal mart last week with a 37" vizio tv love them

  • mine came with regular cable components, do i NEED an hdmi cable??

  • @GT2217 You dont need HDMI cables but it will look and sound that much better with HDMI cables. FYI dont waste $100 dollars on HDMI Monster cables. You can go to Amazon.com and get HDMI cables there for like $9 and they work just the same. At the end of the day digital signal is all the same so like I said dont waste your money.

  • me 2 awesome player 4 the price except no wifi but this is my backup player if my ps3 blu ray drive breaks, but so far zero problems with either player im floored by the picture quality for only 164.00 i highly recommend this player.

  • @Breal43 You can get a switch from Compusa for like $20 and you can connect that to your Blu-Ray which should get you better and more reliable speeds than Wi-Fi.

  • Great Vid how do I get the$20 credit? Thanx!

  • @TheBuffaloChicken You select "Netcast" from the main dash board and then select Vudu from the list of streaming devices. Once you there follow the steps from Vudu. That simple.

  • @theurbanblend

my BD550 hasn't got netcast, what can i do?

  • @theurbanblend if i have movies on a usb drive will i be able to watch them on the player?

  • amazing :D i just bought this player :D
