I drove this thing today................amazing, mean I drive a 1999 mercedes ml320, so getting into something small quick, and amazing handling was a crazy feeling. Mean I've driven my sisters 08 rabbit..........but this thing, takes it and rape it.
it has alot more torque so you don't have to rev it hard in order to get power. its also alot more refined using higher quality materials in its cabin. there's also alot more room in the backseat
Honestly i drove both they are great but i couldn't live with the civics two tear interior the A pilers just scream out mini van. So i chose the GTI it has better built interior and its fast i love this car and going from a A6 audi my expectations were high
The civic is a great car, but you have to work harder to keep it in the power band. GTI with DSG will beat it in the straight, and once you turn ESP off, do a good job of keeping up on the track (though the civic is marginally faster).
GTI is also more practical, and doesn't need premium fuel for the daily commute, unlike the Si.
Just bought one of these last week, and it's awesome.
Verdict: both great cars, but the GTI wins out by a hair for me.

The Si needs premium fuel because it runs at higher rpm and hence tighter timings.
The GTI is less sensitive to AFR mismatch and can run regular octane fuel without knocking as a result.
