  • :o this song is really crazy!!!!!! cooool!!!

  • Is this even a song?

  • WTF? "Barry" Moore? LOL

  • I would love to hear from anyone who has a recording from the early 1970's of the BBC session when they played "Old Benedicts Cherry Wine". I have a copy myself but it is very poor quality. It may have been on "Sounds of the Seventies" or some similar radio show. Gary's playing on this live track is absolutely amazing. peterdsalmon@blueyonder.co.uk

  • That's awful.

  • wow a different edit of this performance. cool. the beat club in germany.

  • Is this the same Skid Row as the one who did 18 and alive?

  • @leahcimrac You mean 18 and Life? No. Two totally different bands. The name was bought from Gary Moore by Rachel Bolan and Dave Sabo, who were in the Skid Row you're talking about.

  • @JADsGames yeah thats what i ment sorry.

  • Even back then Gary was blistering!! RIP Gary!

  • Gary is not dead.... he just live in his music!!

  • rip gary =(

  • I got two albums (Skid + 34 Hrs) and play them regularly - nice to see live footage even if it is a bit - well... enthusiastic.

  • Barry Moore! Ha ha! A'wight!

  • Haha! They listed Gary Moore as Barry Moore.

  • Love this to bits.

But man, the bassist is nuts.

I cannot stop watching right at the end, and the way he smashes his fist into the bass neck to end the song.

    Mental, and funny as heck.

  • This started it all for many of us , Gary Moore Brush Shiels and Noel Bridgman thanks for everything

  • Gary moore kciked so much here. He was great even at 17. I still dont understand why he is not as mentioned in the guitar world as hendrix. Gary moore is just fuckin aazing.

  • is this a piss take? or actually one of their songs?

  • @slantyrock why should this be a "p*ss take" ? What the hell's wrong with you.

  • @svecter im fine, there's nothing wrong with me, it's just he video seems a tad tongue in cheek. i doubt i'm the first person to think this.

  • @svecter oh, and the singing sounds a bit weird too

  • fleetwood mac was americanized too :(

  • seen skid row with gary moore in 1971 thi is prog rock

  • THis is the weirdest song I've ever heard

  • Love him or hate him ....Brush started it all

  • Please tell me it really does say 'Barry Moore'???

    That is AMAZING!

  • Has anyone worked out the bass riff

    for this

  • Thats sum bad ass bass play'n...

  • I've lived with the Skid album for 37 years. I don't think it's badly produced. It just has a raw quality - unusual even in 1970. It is great to see that there is some real footage of the band.

  • Get on the Brush Shiels My Space site.

Crank up the Skid Row revisited version of Mad Dog Woman.....

  • This is just jaw dropping footage, of a superb group, playing and insanely tempoed manic song! Brilliant stuff.

I laughed and laughed watching Brush right at the end, (1.49), smacking his Bass. GET IN THERE! BANG!

Thanks for posting. I so loved watching this! :-)

  • oddly on "skid" theres 3 songs credited to "R. Moore" and 2 to "G. Moore" on the rewind 477360 2 cd release

  • I also had a bootleg cassette tape from like 15 years ago which had the entire "Live an On Point" recording, so for some reason they finally decided to release this recording on CD, no matter how crappy the sound quality was.

  • Sorry, meant "Live and On Song."

  • wot a classic...but who is barry moore? never heard of him...i heard of gary, but no barry....plebs

  • That's Gary Moore at 17 yrs. old-

  • @godofslumber :17???? coollllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw Skid Row in Limerick in 1966/67 What a Band!! I was gobsmacked, especially by Gary Moores playing. (17 years old??? Awesome playing).

The support act that night was a solo blues act. A guy called Duster Bennet who rocked. Hes sadly no longer with us.

Thanks for posting this. Its really cool that after all this time, old farts like me can look back at footage that took place nearly 40 years ago.

I remenber thinking they were like Free on speed.

  • I just bought a Skid Row album from Amazon called "Live and on Song". It includes three live tracks form the John Peel's "In Concert". This is Skid Row at their very best.

  • My Uncle is the drummer, He's brilliant!! We always had great sessions in my Nana's house every Christmas and he'd bring the bongo's and we'd sing ill the wee hours of the morning, sometimes we'd just start a beat and then someone would come in humming and then someone else would make up lyrics, it was the best times ever and full of wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime, Thanks Uncle Noel, your Niece Claire xxx

  • @rayclaire Your uncle's daughter teaches me drums, the whole family is full of brilliant percussionists! and it's an honor see see your uncle every time i go over!!!

  • @rayclaire Noel's style is a very accomplished and unique rock / jazz crossover.

Utterly delightful to the rock-lover's ear , a very talented and nice-natured guy - hold him dear.

  • @rayclaire Lucky you! Brilliant indeed.

  • @rayclaire TELL YOUR UNCLE THIS IS BRILLIANTTO SEE! GARY IS A HERO OF MINE AND WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN SKID ROW LIVE!!!

  • Is this the skid row Phil Lynott was in?... or what?

  • Yes. It is ....but he'd left by the time this was recorded.

  • has anyone worked out the guitar riff

    to this track.....?

  • yeah, that bloke barry aint bad is he?

  • Is it "Barry Moore" they put up on screen?!

  • Wow. This takes me back. Truly amazing band. Saw them several times. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Another gem on Youtube! There can't be much more can there? It's a lot faster than the studio version but just as exciting...keep 'em coming!

  • I thought I'd never hear this classic gem ever again, let alone see a video of a performance. Thanks a lot, brilliant!

  • Even the studio LP version had to be re.mastered the original was so crap. And even rhe LP finaly released by CBS was also crap. Skid Row were definitely let down bu lousy production values... until "34 Hours", by which time theyu seemed to have lost theor initial audience.

All in all a totally genius band let down by incompetent hangers on Record Label wankers let me know if I'm mistaken by all means.

  • I agree the first album was hampered by poor production quality it should have been much heavier sounding, but the musicianship still shines through.

  • Agreed bjorn'...and .I think their better-produced Peel sessions may be lost for all time. I recorded some of them on a 2 track recorder off the radio as a kid but my parents threw the reel out along with other stuff in a stored attic box at home in the 1980s, when I was at Uni.

Seems original Skid Row were destined for musical oblivion....

    Or were they?

  • Yeah, if they'd tried Rockfield in S. Wales for example ( listen to Budgie's Sqwark from 72 ) the LP might have even made the charts. I was surprised the band or CBS agreed to Skid mk 2 being released - it sounds like it was recorded on a Sony Walkman in someone's bathroom. The producer should be shot.

The album recorded live at Leeds or somewhere similar would almost certainly have gone down better too.

  • CBS "Rewind" released a version of "Skid" that did not include "Awful Lot Of Woman" and a couple others, but the production value was great. Gary Moore and CBS records have both said that this "CBS Rewind" version were all outtakes and not originals, but they sounded a hell of a lot better than the Japanese CD issue of "Skid." You can get this "CBS Rewind" version on Amazon, but it is around $40 last time I checked.

  • funnily enough i got the cbs rewind cbs cd from ebay at £3.69..+ there was another different one there at £350...so i havent a clue wot that was, with all different tracks...something about a cherry was 1 track i recall-its gone now-+ there is an orange label "skid" lp @ £40 + 2 "34 hours" @ £70 each-cbs originals - "live + on song" is £13 from hux recs

  • If you are referring to the "Benedict's Cherry Wine" song, that was on Skid Row's 3rd release (which they later re-recorded with Paul "Tonka" Chapman after Gary left). Skid Row had three albums, "Skid," "34 Hours," and "Skid Row." The last one really didn't have a title, because I remembering having it at one time and it was just called "Skid Row." For some reason, however, songs like "New Faces, Old Places" and "Sandie's Gone" didn't appear on the original "Skid" LP from 1970.

  • I saw the Skid Row line up with Paul Chapman and it was a far cry the verge of greatness original line up. Brush also had a band for a short time called suprisingly 'Brush' featuring ex Taste drummer John Wilson and long forgotten great guitarist ,Adrian Fisher, who had played with Sparks and Andy Fraser's post Free band 'Toby'. Brush played manly blues an manic rock & roll covers. I'm sure they didn't record anything, but if anyone has any private recordings I would be dying to hear.

  • @kimersitch I seem to remember myself and mate used to roadie for that 'Brush' line-up. It's a bit hazy now but I remember we used to get paid (sometimes) in 50p coins - a percentage of the take! Those were the days - humping the gear round in a box Transit van. I don't think they ever recorded - shame really.
