Glenn Corbet died at age 59 . the other two guys are alive and in their 80's . What a show . Two cool guys cruising the USA in a corvette and loving it . A Fantasy
@mlbf2327 There were actually two episodes filmed in Corpus Christi. Both were from season 3. "Somehow it Gets to be Tomorrow" and "In the Closing of a Trunk". If I had to guess, I'd say your Dad was probably in "Somehow..." because there are a lot more scenes with extras in that one.
Could have been a dolphin in from the gulf? No way, it's a stingray - a Corvette Stingray, in from GM. But where's the real Corvette ... there's Todd, but where's Buzz? Who's Glenn Corbitt? Route 66 sold Chevrolets, no Fords allowed on this set. See the USA, in a Chevrolet. Thanks for posting ... what memories.
@MrWritecoast You are quite welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that it brought back pleasant memories for you. Check out my channel. I have another full episode, "The Thin White Line", and lots of clips. Thank you for commenting. :)
@HenryJonesSikan RTV is awesome! They show "Adam-12" too. I sent a video to your inbox. It's short but maybe it will tide you over till you can see the whole episode. :)
@HenryJonesSikan That is so cool! I hope those pictures are still there. Kudos on being able to keep a coffee cup that long! Mine always get broken or lost somehow.
@fedewa1226 You are quite welcome. Don't know what I'll be uploading next. I've been thinking about the episode, "The Thin White Line". It's a good one, and is not currently on YT. Thanks for the comment. :)
If you'd like to know more about this particular episode, you can go to this site where you'll find photos and interviews I did with the mermaids. A bunch of us visit the Route 66 filming sites and take before/after photos, so I think you'll finds lots of MM info there. Since YouTube doesn't like html links in these messages, you'll need to go to the ohio66 dot com site and look for "The Cruelest Sea" page for tons of photos.
This is a magnificent episode, but just one of many magnificent episodes this series produced. Interesting that you chose a Glenn Corbett show as your fave, as most people who comment on the show and choose their favorites tend to ignore the Corbett episodes in favor of the George Maharis ones. My personal favorite Route 66 episode is season three's "Man Out of Time".
@MntrTodd yes! it worked! I'm not completely sure (unfortunately, I was not yet born) but it is listed with that airdate on imdb. It's also listed on the Route 66 page at martinmilnerfansite@hollywood. It's only a fansite but I have found it to be very accurate.
Good grief, I haven't seen this episode since the mid 80's. I love this one and What To Do In March. What an awesome show. Makes me miss America in the early 60's so much and Americana. I love the music and adventure. Thanks ever so much for this!

Where is the episode they filmed in Corpus Christi, Texas? Supposedly, my Dad was in one of those scenes!

There is a national cable channel "Retro Television Network" which is now running episodes of "Route 66".
They started June 27 with the first episode "Black November".
I am waiting to watch the two Julie Newmar episodes and the "Shall Forfeit His Dog and Ten Shillings to the King" episode.

I visited Weeki Wachee in 1989 and still have the coffee cup to prove it.
They had pictures of Martin Milner on the wall from when he filmed the episode.

What a great episode! And Diane Baker was absolutely believable as the mermaid! Great writing (and acting) made it so. :-)
