The first time I've ever heard this song ..it DID put a spell on me,because that solo and intense strumming, plus John's singing ..it's just one of those songs that really puts an spell on you!! It's the magic of blues music at it's maximum expression!! a similar one be Dirty Pool (the strumming) Stevie Ray. Montreux Festival July 17 1982.
I agree with tredwest, this is pure evil. I think the band and Fogerty take full command of the song, and make it their own. All respect and props to Hawkins , but this version is the way the song should be done, and it's my favorite version.
Always been one of my fav CCR songs.Just call him Screamin'J.Fogerty! And what a band! John's vocals were always great, but I think the band never got its props!
I agree, Mike. Brother Tom sounds like he's getting blisters on his fingers on Rhythm, Clifford was a killer drummer, just listen to the licks he plays on this. And Stu's bass sounds like doom following behind the band all the way. I don't think Fogerty ever played better than he did on this song. His lead guitar on this is blistering hot!
Best version ever!!!!!!! :)

Nobody like Creedence Clearwater Revival to start off a day. Love Fogerty and group.

Aca es cuando se definía el rock pesado. John Fogerty es uno de los mejores vocalistas de ese entonces, buenísima canción...!!!

Fantastico la voz de John, y un solo tremendo. A veces, lo sencillo gana a la tecnica.
