um who ever said something about the computer is correct. it has nothing to do with holding the key over to long... the car leaves gas in the line from the last time it was started instead of closing up right away after its shut off... causing that car to spit and sputter.
I think every G6 on the road does that annoying extended crank sh*t. From what I can gather, if you turn on the ignition one notch past ACC, and pause for a second or two, then turn it fully. It won't do it. It's a horrible glitch in the "smart start" that GM so graciously thought we needed. You know, turn the key for a split second, the "computer" will finish starting the car! WRONG! It just starts, and starts, and starts, and starts... Remote started one day, and the starter did 6 cycles... BS
@Ranalla651 Mine now has 103,600 and I've replaced the rack & pinion, intermediate shaft twice, and I've still got more knocks in my front end than a horse bound chariot does on a gravel road. I still get extended crank every now and then. I've had the car since 28,000 miles and I can't wait to get rid of it.
@Ranalla651 I think you can get them off eBay. Search "LED tail lights G6" -- I loved my car three years ago when it had 29,000 miles. Today it's got 104,000 and I don't love it. At all. :-/
Doesn't matter if you hold the key or not, mine did it the first time a few weeks ago and scared me a little. I just figured it was cuz it was cold, i didnt know other people had this "problem." I say "problem" because it hasnt really caused me any real headaches in the 3 months ive had my car, just a little nervousness that one time. lol
My girls Malibu does the same thing, same engine as the G6, and so does my 08 Colorado. Just a GM thing with their quick flick ignition. What muffler(s) did you use on this? Sounds good!
extended crank because you hold the key too long when starting.... all the car needs is a little *jolt* start... just a quick turn and the car will start. dont hold that key in too long,. it will mess up your starter eventually.
