Well there are two different kinds of musicians to me. If your a classical Violinist or in an orchestra....from my experience they were more used to full out compositions and werent used if even aware of the ability to improvise..dont get me wrong alot of them are damn good but just arent accustomed to executing their ability in that fashion. The SP were part of the backlash, and considered "indie" at one point, although of course they went on to big label commercial success themselves. You've got your terms a bit mixed up. There's tons more non-commercial music out there today. But because it's NOT commercial, you don't find it easily. Get it? You can't have it both ways! You want non-commercial, then open your ears. It's absolutely everywhere.
