This is the version I first heard on the island of Malta in 67. When I got back to the states I couldnt fin it until the mocie Coming Home came out. its one of those unhearded awesome songs
You say Hannah Montana, I say The Rolling Stones
You say Owl City, I say Led Zeppelin
You say Jonas Brothers, I say The Beatles
You say Justin Bieber, I say Queen
You say Taylor Swift, I say The Doors
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy & paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock die
I'm a little disappointed that this 5 minute version is not available on American releases. But since my birthday's coming up, I'll add the British CD version of Aftermath to my list.
@ngobleus This version has been available in America since 2002. It's on the British Aftermath album. The one with the purple cover. You can get it on Amazon.com
I really like your images! I'm a HUGE RS fan so I enjoy checking out the uTube vids, be it performance footage or "home made" videos about the songs. It's a wonder that each of us conjours our own "idea" or "picture" of a song! Shadoobee! Check out my covers of RS songs, type Ray Wasik
We know that each stone at that time were like a stone triangle if one left then it would fall- personally i'm a Brian jones fan from the begining and when he was gone the music did change in my opinion but the stones are #1
1978 this song playing in the opening scene of the movie "coming home" with bruce dern on the military base running .....great anti-war movie. jon voight deserved the oscar for his role as the paraplegic luke. rip hal ashby....you made the best movies
@mbl1953 Wow, I just found this after watching "Coming Home" ... I was going to comment on the exact same thing. Great movie that has as much meaning then as it does today. Also, end credits have same song. Cheers.
Love this great song, and favorite part is organ!! I rediscovered this song when I watched "Coming Home," for which they used it at end credits. I thought, goddamn, how did I ever forget about that great old song? And, it's fairly long for a pop song of that time period.
Love this great song, and favorite part is organ!! I rediscovered this song when I watched "Coming Home," for which they used it at end credits. I thought, goddamn, how did I ever forget about that great old song?
The early Stones kicked ass! After Brian Jones left band they were never the same and i only like a few of their songs after that. This is a classic that never gets airplay on todays radio, incuding satellite.
"I play the bits you cant hear" Brian Jones. I dont know, sometimes they come across loud and clear, and they'll be with us forever. The music of the Rolling Stones will be around as long as the human race exists.
No shit....every track he played some different instrument and gave them a sound far superior to the Beatles. Joh Lennon once said thw Rolling Stones would be nothing without him in the 60's. Its a shame they treated him like shit, and after they fired him, erased his tracks from 'Honkey Tonk Women' and other songs.
@GeneAngeles1 True. They got better after he died. Brian was great and a genius, but for the same reason the beatles crapped out, it was best that brian went out. His style of music, and britpop in general was on the decline. The beatles hung on for a while after brian died and rode their style of music into the ground. They petered out. Brian died, Mick came in and ushered in the golden stones and they became The greatest rock and roll band in the world.
@ChristianSchock They would have been even better if Brian had been able to accommodate the kind of change that the rest seemed to thrive on. R&R is the microcosm of the big world, and it's how you handle it. Mick handled fame and money well, while Keith didn't do so well and Brian just unfortunately couldn't handle it. The others didn't make it easy on him, and they lost the early heart and bad-boy image that Brian gave them.
I'm going to cover this in a singing workshop... excellent. The Stones really have covered the ground... just listening to their Stripped album... superb.
Very good melody. The Stones sure could do it all, hard rock, blues, psychedelic, and awesome mellow tunes like ruby tuesday, lady jane, sitting on a bench, etc etc. That's why for me, they'll always be greater than the Beatles. Stones4ever man.
the greatest version to me!
