what a beautiful video.... search for "optivizor and novaguard" in google. There is a facebook fan page helping to support blind dogs and dogs in recovery. The optivizor can really help these special members of our family.
one of my dogs is blind. he went blind because he's diabetic. you would never know that he's considered a special needs dog. he does great!!! this video is very touching!
i have a blind sheltie, have had her since she was 8 weeks old, she went blind when about a year old, you would not believe she is blind, she is now 7 years old. and runs and play with my other shelties.so glad gavin has a forever home
We have two very spoiled Shelties...if they only knew how some dogs struggle, they might appreciate their lives. THANKS for being there for him. Shelties can be difficult to handle...we have had many...but they are worth it.
I grabbed for my box of kleenex BEFORE I even started this. How wonderful!! LOVE IT and love that Gavin got a good life. We have an 11 yr. old sheltie that we adore and feel very blessed to have. THANKS so much for sharing!
oh, this film moved me sooo much. Once I had a blind collie dog called Chagall. He was a wonderful dog, who was brave, independent (almost) and of a very very good character. And now I have a little sheltie girl called Lusia. So this film combined two strong love stories of mine. My dogs have even own blog :-)
i was once saved by a blind dog. When i was 5. I used to play with my neighbour's Blind Rotweiller and he liked me very much. One day i was walking in the street and an Angry Pitbull started to roar at me. I was in panic and the Blind Rotweiller showed up, and started fighting the pitbull, even thou' he was blind. He heard my panic voice and came to help me. I wont forget that day.
i see nothing but love and affection in Gavins face. it saddens me to know how he had to search those cornfields for dinner. but it makes me cry in happiness that he has such a loving family
This wrenches my heart every time I view it. Anyone who has ever been owned by a Sheltie can understand how precious this is. Shelties were put on the earth by God to reward special people. I am owned by two of them, and they are the most loving animals I have ever seen. Plus I have three more of them waiting for me at "Rainbow Bridge".
This reminds me of our dog! Ty was also a blind sheltie found wandering on the road. We found him through sheltie rescue and i've never had a more loving dog.
Wonderful video...I love to see happy tails...YAY success...keep up the good work...5*, favorite and will definitely post in my blog in the near future as a featured success story....
So sweet. God put Shelties on the earth to reward special people. Blind does not matter, a Sheltie is a very special animal that gives his or her heart unconditionally. Share your home with a Sheltie and you will never be without one again. Humans don't own Shelties, it is the other way around. I am so glad that Gavin found his special people, God bless you and keep you .. and Gavin. From Becca and Rachel..... Two more loving Shelties.
OMG! i love this video! it so sweet how the lady took this dog and put him into the family! (almost cried) i had 2 shelties but 1 we had to put to sleep, and omg! i couldnt stop crying for almost a month!!!! the other ine didnt know what to do, but we give him love! but im just sooo glad that Gavin's life is still up! He may be blind, but he has a family that loves him and thats all that matters!
This made me cry so hard!! I love animals so much and dogs especially. I can't imagine how scary and hard it must have been for Gavin before he was rescued, and I am SO happy he got a happy ending. All dogs deserve a happy ending!
Love it!!! We've had both deaf and blind double merles in rescue. They are amazing dogs. I've often heard people say that their special needs dogs, are the best dog they've ever owned.
Check out the video response of Indiana Sheltie Rescue Northern Picnic! Gavin and his adoptive mom & dad were there. Towards the beginning, during the "Biscuit Catch" game, you'll see Mary Kay go over and hand Gavin his...he got to cheat :)
omg! i was literally in tears. no lie. the whole time i kept thinking about my sheltie and how much she enjoys running around and playing... i cant imagine what she would do if she went blind...
this is sooooo sad... i hope he has a great life. =)
He does have a great life, and he gets around really well. He runs and plays, and enjoys cuddling on his new owners lap.
Dogs don't have the label 'disability' in their vocabulary the way humans do...they just deal with life and try to be happy. I wish everyone would give a special needs dog a chance to shine.
Oh believe me, he is all dog! He runs and plays with the other dogs, gets up on the furniture etc. If he was left at animal control, he wouldn't be here anymore, to be anything.
The video was too sweet for my liking. The dog does not only need affection they need to be dogs as well. I have posted four videos about my blind Malinois.
It is also about stimulating your blind dog.
I have always had dogs, but this has been a tough and very important experience in my life.
Yay for him finding a forever home. Rescue dogs make great pets.

it doesnt matter if a dog is blind or even mute =.= people like perfect dogs but they should think first on those who need.

This is a wonderful story. How blessed this sheltie is,and even more so the new owners.
We have a blind himalayen kitten, that was going to be euthanized because she was born with no eyes. The breeder felt she was not sellable.
We adopted our "Bumper" at 8 weeks, and is now just a bit over 1 year old.
Every animal deserves the right to quality of life.I know our lives have been enriched to the fullest, with our babe.
Hugs to all of you,for giving Gavin a loving home.
