  • prog jazz?

  • That's just about the most gorgeous subdividing I've ever heard in my gosh dang life. Wow.

  • @DanMcCaffrey you might enjoy "bad plus"

  • Bad ass shit !!! Love it !!

    Big Latin influence. Orale !!

    Let the mambo begin!!

  • what a fucking pretentious title for a song

  • @TehWinnerz Who cares for the name of the song in a musical avalanche like this? And there's nothing pretentious about it, except for your comment.

  • @montalvomachado that makes tonnes of sense. Thanks.

  • @TehWinnerz It's not pretense if there's substance to back it up.

  • I was wracking my brain for quite a while trying to figure this out. I love that I can go to youtube and trust that someone will have figured it out for me. Usually.

My favorite part is 5:30, when Mark Guiliana starts going nuts and you can hear a couple stick clicks in there on accident.

  • okay, seriously, 1 dislike. Who fuckin did that lol

  • Comment removed

  • @IRTAMI Why? I mean why someone who knows Avishai personally?

  • @jazzpsalti confess!!!!!

  • Woooo que temazo!!!

  • fyi there is a very melancholy version of the same progression recorded by cohen called "song for my brother"

  • I love it

  • could you please elaborate that explanation? I´m really having a hard time understanding this

  • AMAZING

  • Can anyone tell me the cymbal Mark uses for the groove at 2:30?

  • @ricyarborough it's 2 cymbals stacked on top of each other I think,a china kang and a crash, hes using them like X hats

  • @ricyarborough ferg walker isn't playing bass on this

  • @demondrummerboy he should be!

  • @ricyarborough imagine if he was

  • @demondrummerboy I'm not 100% sure this video would be on youtube if he was :P

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD I GOT BUY THIS RECORD....

I don't think the stuff avishai is doing now compares to this... looks even like he is trying to make success, am I right?

  • well nakanevis, not quite, i mean, he add to his music some vocals, thats all, i see it more like he is experimenting a little bit, because if you pay attention to his music today has not change much, its just that he added a new element to the ecuation, not with great success i guess, but doesnt mean that he's trying to make success, you know that part of the beauty of jazz is that you are free to do what you please, since it's not a commercial music, i believe he is doing just that.

  • Hi. Sooryy, but I can't agree that his 'voice project' not "with great success". The very first time i heard them they make really deep impression on me, and that was 'voice project'. Maybe what's matter that was live, because official videos somewhat plain. they're reeeallyy great and talented.

  • @nakanevis his new stuff isn't as jazzy, but it's much more personal. i love them both, for different reasons. not everyone can appreciate "el hatzipor", because not everyone can even understand the poetry of Bialik, let alone identify with it

  • @schindler91589 Well, there's planty of music out there for which I don't understand the poetry but still love the music... so.... in respect to the music it doesn't please me. When I went to his concert I had to force myself to apreciate it and not to leave

  • awesome record indeed, you wont regret it

  • isnt it 5/4? since 0:30?

  • @benjairodomin

no. it's a 10 beat cyclic rhythm that they chop into different meters as they go.

  • oh no, the comsicrain got it. he's right. I tried his approach. he's right. bravo.

  • gosh!! love it

  • 4:41

  • wow!! super !!!!!

  • 4:41...Go Mark

  • Holy fuck. That was ridiculous. Weird ass time signatures.

  • yeah. the part after :54 is in 6/4, or sumthin like that.

  • It's a lot more complicated than that!

  • It's just 6/4, but then breaks up into 5/16+5/16+5/16+5/16+4/16 starting on the "e" of 2. Rhythm is amazing.

  • the "e" of 1*

    I know what you meant

  • Goddamn you, commissioner

  • thanks to thecosmicrain for the rhythm lesson, it's

    a tough one!

  • could you please elaborate that explanation? I´m really having a hard time understanding this

  • ok I can hear the six - but not the fives. What do you mean starting on the "e" of 2?? Do you the second sixteenth of the second beat? That doesn´t make much sense

  • I think I´ve got it. These guys are really stupid

  • @florianocoelho Can you not hear the beauty?

  • @thecosmicrain don't mames

  • this is so great. i really wanna play it, but i doubt i'd be able to work it out or find out how to play it on the internet. worth a try tho :P

  • i heard this on the radio a couple days ago and it blew me away.

  • man on tsf jazz 89.9 in france??

  • really cool

  • Waaaaaw ... Oo <3
