  • I was there in 1981 on a high school trip. I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt and it got pretty dang cool. It's probably the coolest thing I've ever seen and I would love to go again.

....well you know what you can thank me for this one this video sucks

  • i went there yesterday!

  • I wen to fletc and after graduation, my family and i went to see the caverns. he's right, you have to take a couple of tours or more. we didn't get to walk down like we wanted to. i want to go again!

  • The 'snack bar' in the Big Room is just that... snacks...vending machines etc. I remember going in the 80s and it was more cafeteria like.

Up top is more like a l a r g e snack bar with actual meals. I ate there and it was fine. You'll be hungry after all that walking.

  • There is lodging in Whites City just below the National park-if you are able walk in via the natural opening a steep downhill walk of at least a mile otherwise its an elevator to cave land-not as thrilling

  • Thanks for the the comments so far!

  • Okay, someone help me. I live in Carlsbad and have been to the Caverns many many times. I'm having a problem....grant it I haven't been in a while but this restaurant...it's a dang cafeteria line. The prices are horrible..way too high and there are t-shirts and such for sale off to the side. Um...teenagers work the lines with a couple of adults to supervise.

    C'mon....restaurant?

    Enjoy the visit.

  • I went to the caves many years ago back in the 70's - I was about 5 or 6. I will never ever forget it - it was a magical experience. I do remember a cafeteria even back then! I remember it was all orange at the time with lots of dramatic lighting everywhere.

  • My first trip to the caverns was in the 50's, and it was awesome. My second in the 80's and I hope to go again.

You live there, and seem used to it. Thats sort of sad, Like Disneyland became to me as child, I went so often it lost it's thrill..Seems you lost the thrill of the caverns. It is exciting to eat inside the cave, "cafeteria" or not.

I hope no one is discouraged by your comments.

  • I've been there. It's something you absolutely have to see for yourself. Absolutely amazing.

  • Wow sounds cool. I would like to try that restaurant

  • I have never been but would check it out!

  • I've been there! great place to visit.
