yea i had to sing this song in choir too it's not exactly right or are teacher does it different we have more jazz in our song and Siyahamba is "we are marching for freedom"
what is with this "koo kah nyen kwen kohs"? Isn't it supposed to be "koo kah nye ne kwen kohs"? Are there just some arrangements out there that use "nyen" instead of "nye ne"? And what's the reason for it? Every time I hear this song, it's always half and half on the translation. Maybe it has something to do with the dialect? Where certain parts or Africa do it differently?
Your corrent. This is hungary. Im american and I learned this song in chorus but when I look it up up here the beat sounds like there are cut in half and not pronounced right.
it's a song from South Africa, particularly Kwa-Zulu Natal. It's "Siyahamba, ekukhanyen' kwenkos' " - We are walking/marching/going/moving in the light of God.
I'm aware that it's from South Africa, and I know the translations, but what I didn't know is which pronunciation was the original, correct one. When done in triplet form it's "kukahnyen kewnkos" and when done with all 8th notes it's "kukahnyene kwenkos." I've heard it pronounced both ways by different groups from Africa.
See a hooooboooooo on the side of the road....
But in all seriousness... I LOVE THIS!! Its so much fun to sing. We sing this in choir at school (:

I had to sing this at school , but we sounded nothing like this. It probably has something to do with me attending a school of idiots.
