Capitalism would work if the government would quit restricting it. The government has made it harder and more expensive to run any business in America. Between taxes, environmental laws, access laws, dems forceing banks to give subprime loans through Carter and Clinton's CRA, etc, it isn't a suprise businesses move overseas where it is cheaper to operate. There is a big difference to the bailout and nationalizing. The bail out was not nationalizing i dont know why people are calling it that. It was a loan to keep the same people who brought it down in control of those companies so they can fix the problem then pay back to the government, Nationalizing is were the government takes complete control of a companie and its no longer private it becomes a public accet to the people of that countrie.
I think everyone realises, though, that without socialising those failed capitalist assests then the sebsequent pedulum swing would have sent the world into a depression. It's not really that capitalism failed, rather, it wasn't allowed to restructure itself naturally - mostly, I believe, because the world has gotten too used to ipods and cellphone and we don't want to give those up for the bread queues.
Good economics is about finding the balance between regulation and a hands-off policy to promote healthy competition. Companies need to be able to compete because it usually demands providing a better product at a lower price, and therefor increases efficiency. Regulation's needed, however, to keep the competition fair. Without it you get monopolies, corporations powerful enough to force government action, and not competing by self-improvement, but by harming the consumer and their competitors.

This is for 2007, California pays $8,590.18 per capita. The average each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico pays is $8,528.22. However you should be aware that the hard right parties in Europe have a tendency to moderate their anti-immigration stance and to campaign more and more on economic issues, calling for policies that are usually associated with the left. I think you wanted to say 'i know more languages than you do', but what you've got is 'I know more languages than you make'. "to do" in german is "etwas machen", and a sentence like "i do pushups" would be "ich mache liegestuetzen", so thats why you ended up with that translation,but german 'machen' is generally used more like english 'make'.

Capitalism would work if the government would quit restricting it. The government has made it harder and more expensive to run any business in America. Between taxes, environmental laws, access laws, dems forceing banks to give subprime loans through Carter and Clinton's CRA, etc, it isn't a suprise businesses move overseas where it is cheaper to operate. It was a loan to keep the same people who brought it down in control of those companies so they can fix the problem then pay back to the government, Nationalizing is were the government takes complete control of a companie and its no longer private it becomes a public accet to the people of that countrie.

Companies need to be able to compete because it usually demands providing a better product at a lower price, and therefor increases efficiency. Regulation's needed, however, to keep the competition fair. Fascism is economically anticapitalist; it wants a regulated system to prevent private monopoly and it merges the state and large corporations. It's more of a "third position" ideology. And communism is an as-of-yet unacheived utopian stateless classless society with no state and no money; from each according to his ability, to each according to his need. What many naively call "communism" is actually state socialism; the "dictatorship of the proletariat" phase of Marxist-Leninist progression.

Im a Libertarian and its my view that third world countrys need socialism. But we dont have capitalism here in the US. We have crony capitalism and now corporate socialism.
Bad monetary policy by the fed caused the meltdown, not capitalism. Printing money out of thin air devalues the dollar and that cause prices of everything to go up. Lowering interest rates so people use credit to buy things they cant afford and running up massive defecits and debt is what caused the bubble to burst.

Once these people turn to use government police powers to squelch free market capitalism, they are no longer, by definition, caitalists. There is nothing cute or funny about were we are. No company should be allowed to grow so large, that we cannot allow it to fail. I hope the lessons we have learned will not be forgotten. BTW, I wonder who Hugo is supporting for pres. Obama wants Wealth Redistribution, a key principal of Socialism. One thing is certain, Americans don't want to take the Economic Principals of China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, or Belarus. The US ranks something like 16th in total effective humanitarian aid (ie not spending billions propping up dictatorships or military aid to Israel).

Sorry, I missed that last part. You think California subsidises every other state. The best way to answer that is by FEDERAL TAX REVENUE, BY STATE, PER CAPITA. This is for 2007, California pays $8,590.18 per capita. The average each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico pays is $8,528.22. You Sir, and your state, are just slightly above average. Hope that helped

The best thing we can do is let the Bush tax cuts expire, which they were clearly for only one purpose, and lower the tax rate of the middle tier. Then they need across the board spending cuts in the same percent for each program until the budget is balanced.
