I wonder how the British Government and the world can optimize his genius ability for the real benefit of mankind, not just for science purposes. An amazing person with such modesty. Truly gifted by God.

you are amazing. i pray you continue what you are doing and make use of your ability to reach out more and help others. do you have a love life?hahah i am so curious. i think you are really sweet ^_^
I think the under appreciated fact (by the public) is the support and encouragement his parents gave to have Daniel flourish despite their lack of regular income and his father's own health problems -- not to mention all the other siblings.
The mother of Temple Grandin is also an amazing woman who spared nothing to reach into her daughter's enclosed world and helped a brilliant woman emerge.
Most parents would have either given up or floundered in mediocrity.
I am currently rereading your book, Born on a Blue Day, for at least the third time and possibly the fourth. As always, I am inspired by the way you have learned to deal with your Asperger's and have a productive, happy life despite your disorder. Of course I also really respect your ability with numbers and words, but to me it is more amazing that you have made so much of an effort to learn social skills so that you can successfully interact with other people.

"For all my eccentricities, the Lithuanians thought that it was just part of being British."
As another Brit, that is brilliant :-)

I think the same. My brother has autistic syndrome, and with my mother's and my efforts, he learned many things that doctors first said he can't.
