COUNT OF AN ISOTOPES — HALF-LIFES IN SECONDS from 3175 known, are: 51 isotopes with unknown half-lifes 935 with half-lifes under 1 second 401 with half-lifes ~1 s.; 385 with half-lifes ~10 s.; 360 with half-lifes ~100 s.; 260 with half-lifes ~1,000 s.; 167 with half-lifes ~10,000 s.; 196 with half-lifes ~100,000 s.; 80 with half-lifes ~1,000,000 s.; 52 with half-lifes ~10,000,000,000 s.; 54 with half-lifes >1,000,000,000,000,000 s.; 234 are STABLE Source data — 'Nudat2'
You risk to get radioactive contamination on your clothes and skin as radioactive dust collects in the green areas within (and around) the exlusion zone.
It can be scrubbed off the skin but if you inhale it it's a whole other story, it'll get into your system and radiate you internally on the way out, something which you risk when walking in dry areas of contamination as dust can swirl up, it's especially dangerous to step on moss as the spores soak up alot of dust.
@CakesNshit — Honestly, this being in the "Zone" I was afraid a lot possible injury more than a contamination — e.g. during my 2nd trip in early spring, I had to be very careful on the ice in a Pripyat's buildings
Today, after more than 25 y., the activity of radioactive isotopes is lower there, not only as a result of their decay, but primarily as a result of their DISPERSION
If in the Kopachi would be a 1 gram of Cs-137, the dosimeters will show 285,000 µSv/h (sic!) — not faint under 1 µSv/h
