  • i didnt know coffey and gretzky were on the same team 0_0 scary shit right there!

  • Theres a glimpes of the greatest sports team ever.

  • this proves Wayne Gretzky has eyes in the back of his head O.O

  • i had to watch this 3 times

  • That just isn't fair. What a pass.

  • routine for the sedins, no big

  • @elfy2000

So you live in Vancouver and just started watching hockey?

  • What potato did you record this with

  • @1277jacob Oh I get it. It's funny because he's supposed to get a 1080p HD recording of a hockey play from the 80's.

  • WOW!

  • amazing grace

  • @dannyjerome0 ....lol

  • coffee was like ummm how the fuck?

  • He's not blind -.-

  • it's whats called the hockey sense.

  • Canada rules!

  • I make that pass every game in floorball. It's not that difficult.

  • @NathanDrake911 floor-ball rofl this is the nhl

  • @NathanDrake911 lolololol Nobody cares what you do in floorball hockey.

  • @NathanDrake911 well guess what floor hockey is completely from ice hockey different are you going to try to tell me that baseball and softball are the same game now?

  • thanks God for HD, these days is Hockey looks little better on tv

  • Gretzky has those defenseman so confused that i'm confused just trying to watch them... even when you try ignoring gretzky in the play

  • What I find funny about that play is how he's one step ahead of everybody else.

  • nobody passes like that anymore!

  • Haha read Coffey's lips at 0:15. It looks like he's saying "What a pass!"

  • Read Coffey's lips at the end "What a f*cking pass!"

  • If there is ever a time machine invented, I'm gonna go back and watch Gretzky play cause I never got too

  • @timbo3744 I'm glad you said that because I watched him play when he was with the Oilers and took it for granted. It's like the guy always knew where the puck would be before it got there. Like in this clip it seems he could read his teamates minds

  • Makes it look easy.

  • thats what we like to call Ice Presence.

  • greatest passer ever! oh and he has the most goals of any player in the league.

  • Okay...first of all gretzky saw him in the neutral zone, he knew generally where coffee would be, but to put it right on his fucking stick like that, yea right I can't believe people are saying thats routine.

Anyone who's played competitive hockey knows that pass is discouraged by coaches because it usually results in a giveaway back down the ice.

  • Gretzky is sex.

  • @HPATDH1 sex on ice

  • Oh, man.

  • this was the most unstoppable line in nhl history

  • @Electricsurf999 Amen to that! I'm watching this game tomorrow! I gotta honour Wayne somehow! Crack out my old Oilers jersey!

  • 25 years ago, now. Great pass!

  • Game 5, 1985 Stanley Cup finals, first period!

BTW Gretzky stats? 47 points in 18 games!

  • Coffey says, "What a pass!"

  • I used to have this video when I was a kid. Greatest Stanley Cup goals or something.

  • @vdven To 50 Playoff Goals. Video Released in 1993!

  • its called a no look pass

  • this is not a blind pass its a simple backhand pass..

  • that's a routine back pass. any player can do that. gretzky made way sicker passes than this example

  • @greatleaper Its not routine because he actually led him with the puck. Most back passes are drop passes; its very rare you see someone do a behind the back pass where he actually throw the puck forward and leads the recipient.

  • Coffey was at the end of the ice and caught up to him in no time. He was the fastest.

  • THE greatest hockey team of all time!

    8 golden years!!

  • that pass doesn't even make sense.

  • What do you mean by that?. Of course it made sense, Coffey was skating at full speed and had an open lane to the net, it through everybody off.

  • Dude, it made sense to Gretzky, that's why Gretzky did it. Nobody can make those passes, except maybe Mario Lemieux. So, what he meant by that was that nobody would've or could've done that pass as perfect as Gretzky did... "how the heck did he see Coffey streaking down and get that blind pass onto his stick?" ...is pretty much what he meant.

  • In Gretzky's autobiography he claims that he never saw Coffey coming and that Coffey never yelled for the puck, but that he knew Coffey was coming. What may have originally seemed like a backhanded dump into the corner on a non-dangerous 1-on-2 rush turned into a goal because of Coffey's speed and the chemistry he had with Gretzky. That was what made this play so remarkable.

  • were you the goalie? LOL

  • Actually Wayne had eyes in his neck :D.

  • I think he had 4 pairs of eyes at some point :D

  • Coffey and Lemieux were better together.

  • If Lemieux hadn't had all of that back trouble, and hadn't gotten sick at his peak...

Well, I'm from Pittsburgh, and the Mario era is close to my heart. Watching Gretzky does me good from a hockey lover standpoint, but the Pens are my team.

  • My dad says the same thing. Gretsky is without a doubt the best but some say the same as you that if mario would've been healthy......but really it can only be conjecture.....we will never know.

  • Yeah...simply oustandind Take notes (not notice) Orr fans. He didn't do this one or twice or even three times against pee-poodle fucks who couldn't skate. He did this game in and game out against the BEST of the BEST in the WORLD.

  • Fucking great.

  • Greatest pass in the history of any sport

  • That wasn't blind, that was smart

    Bloody smart though

  • @Losrandiro it was a blind pass because he never actually looked if the player was there.

  • @DaSphynX WRONG. You could tell he was swinging over behind him....not to mention you do talk in hockey, you know communicate amongst one another. Basic drop pass.

  • @Losrandiro well said.

  • @Losrandiro --- I don't know why I hit this page, but the pass was a blind pass...take a look at where Coffey is when Gretzky gets the puck at his blue line. Coffey is in his own corner. He saw a glimps of white if that and he hit him, forward, in stride...not looking therefore drawing all the attention to the defenders rights side while the pass went towards their left.

  • @Losrandiro i think he means blind as in not looking, not as in accidental

  • Yes it was. Stanley Cup Finals no less.

  • Best of all, that was in the playoffs, I believe.

  • how the... wow.

  • are you kidding me?! simply outstanding.

  • Wow.
