By far, the finest video I have seen, it takes me back to a classier age in America. Thank you for the song and the clips, and thanks for the memories.
Me parece una verdadera maravilla la poética desarrollada en el montaje. No es perfecta, pero se asoma. Un abrazo y besos al creador, o creadora, y eso... que lástima que no dure dos horas.
My mum heard this song in the hospital just after she had me - hence my name! Thank you Mr Frank Sinatra...such a beautiful song! Also, I love old Hollywood stuff, so - great video.
wthte -- do you have any info on the song? What year it was recorded, or on what album I can find it... This version is better than any other I've heard. :)
Hey guess what,? the old fool can not sop watching it, The images of so many TRUE STARS CAPTURED BY CRAFTSMEN, EMOTION ,SUPERB , makes you appreciate their skills bless em all
a wonderful blend of clips and music how did you do it, I am jealouse,I am 78 yrs and I want to show this to all my friends, I have played it four times today
kann mir jemand helfen?ich möchte wissen wie der film in diesen video heißt meine mama sucht den schon seit jahre...ich will eine freude machen und ihr den film holen doch leider wiss ich den namen nicht....antwortet mir bitte danke chantanja20
I've searched long and hard for the song sung by a decent vocalist, and this is just so beautiful.
In 1951 I met my first love. I was sixteen and a half, she was 22. Her name? Yes, it was Stella. I loved her so deeply, but in those days such an age gap was too much for me. Wrote her a goodbye letter.
Young and foolish, that was me.
This song brings Stella back to me in my heart and mind. A lovely girl, made immortal by this great song.
So good, back in the days when Hollywood had real stars, nowadays I just about quit seeing movies because of the garbage they film. This is a real breath of fresh air, and I thank you.
well the world is empty of ladies such as these and men than more than men were elegant gentlemen what a shame i miss some things and thanks for such a lovely video and great song by old blue eyes
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song, one of my all time favorites. Those clips that you chose are quite splendid, you have nice taste in music and movies. Those actors and actresses had personality, beauty, charisma, something to say, talent, so different of most of the garbage that we see today. Thank you, I do not watch tv anymore, I rather come here to YT and enjoy this.
A golden era never the like to be seen again, along with such wonderful Actors & Actresses We are the richer to have seen them on the big screen & TV & appreciate the magic that they brought into our hearts in a more innocent time, thanks for this glimpse into the past.
This marvellous song haunts me ever since I was a kid. I like the Ray Charles version better. It's highly emotional and a little spooky, especially if you watch where it was first played on a motion picture, The Uninvited(1944)which you can watch here on Youtube, with Gail Russell(who had an untimely death due to her alcohol addiction on account of her pathological shyness in front of a camera(she was always high during the takes). She was Stella in the movie. Such beautiful eyes!
What a beautiful video! Thank you very much for sharing such a beautiful clip. It has a beautiful music, beautiful scenes from movies and beautiful people. You definitely made my day!
Can anyone please tell me the name of the actress who appears after the series of eye shots? She appears with a cigarette, smoke and an anguished look.
She appears again right after Monty disarms you with his smile.
The blonde girl with a cigarette is Rita Hayworth, in the movie "the lady from shanghai", directed by Orson Welles, her husband at that time. Look for the song "Please don´t kiss me", that she sings in this movie. She is stunning and the music is beautiful. But is not Rita that appears with Monty Clift. That another blond is Anne Baxter.
Pure class. What beautiful ladies! I especially like the addition of the male stars--they are also truly gorgeous! Monty Clift is my favorite. His face and smile are so beautiful. Thanks .
Beautiful ladies and a great song. Perfect! No more like those ladies. The ones that we have in Hollywood now are tattooed and do not know a word about glamour. But the ones that you showed in your clips, those are ravishing! Thank you!
I was looking for this song and unable to find a pop version. How lucky I was to find Frank Sinatra with clips of the most beautiful movies of the 1930's and 1940's. Thanks!

Thanks, I got a bit confused in my earlier message.
So it's Rita Hayworth with the anguished look and cigarette before Monty's disarming smile and Anne Baxter right after, then?
I never would have known, and I've nudged a few folks to view it, too.
Beautiful work, sir! Very nostalgic. Thanks again!

That is said to have been one of Rita's finest acting efforts,; I picked up genuine anguish from her in the clip I asked you about.
Unfortunately, the film didn't go over too well, and I think I know why after watching several clips of the film on YouTube.
Orson's talents and skills were enormous - but didn't extend to immitating an Irish accent.
Great acting and a terrific story - but Welles' accent was too corny.
