I've listened to every possible version of this song. Jay Black is the only one who can sing this song and make me cry. It's his signature song and he still sings it beautifully at age 72. Having said that, Mr. Otero's version is amazing and gives me chills. It's kind of like " apples and oranges "... Both excellent, just different. Jay is a rock and roll singer with an operatic style and range. Mr. Otero is an opera singer....except THIS one version, no other version even comes close to Jay Bl

Amazing, I am humbled. I have been singing again late in life songs by Pitney, Orbison, Tom Jones, Jay Black etc.

I decided after 22 years since I last sang it to see if I could still sing Cara Mia & found YOU!!! I will be daily laying on my back on the floor with headphones on trying to get still enough inside to even in a small way come part way to this glorious sound. I have a new voice to humble me.

This is the first time I've ever heard this version- Senor Otero has knocked my socks off- His vocal range is amazing- When Jay and the Americans sang this they had to go into a falsetto- not so with Senor Otero- my high school Spanish is not great so I hope a sincere "Muchas Gracias" will suffice

Me alegró mucho encontrar esta canción aquí. He escuchado esta versión desde que era niña. Mi padre adoraba la música académica y compró el disco (LP) que trae esta canción. Por cierto, el disco todavía existe y en muy buen estado. La voz del maestro Otero es simplemente extraordinaria. Por cierto, yo creía (al igual que muchas otras personas) que Mario Lanza fue quien grabó la versión original en inglés, pero parece ser que fue el norteamericano David Whitfield. ¡Saludos desde Venezuela!

@isad111 How wonderful it must have been to grow up hearing this voice! There is so much strength and passion when he sings. I would like to know more about his life, will search. Take care of him, and be sure he knows how much pleasure he brings to us. I am an old American woman, almost Jay Black's age, and speak only English, but I would listen to this voice if it was only babbling.
