Mikey, I just have to tell you that I think your site and your videos are amazing. You are just what I needed. I crocheted from age 5 to 18 and then quite because, well, the hubby just thought it was a stupid total waste of time. I am 43, widowed now, my children have all become adults and I have been missing something in my life. Well today I came upon you site and this pattern and the excitement and the ease in which you teach made me run right over to the store and get some yarn and hooks!
OMG I finally found someone with patience to teach me how to crochet...I always wanted my grandmother to teach me but she died before she could and my gosh this guy is perfect talks you through it and has visuals.Makes it so easy looking. I know at first it wont be, but I am so going to start this week trying to do a blanket like I always wanted to do.
@pumpkinseed45 mikey had crocheted sock tutorials on youtube a while ago but due to viewer confusion he ended up removing them. there is a new loom knitting tutorial out for socks but thats all he has at this time.....chanel @ mikeys helpdesk ;)
so i have watched these video's on this pattern and can't tell for sure, do I need to chain at least one for ech row and color change. I know you have to chain three for the half pinwheel but for the others i should chain 1 right? help pls so I don't rip out another blanket btw I love these videos this is how I learned when i couldn't understand what my mom was showing me
@meggy2552 hello this is chanel from mikeys helpdesk......
there is no written pattern for this blanket at this time.....when theres no written pattern for things I tell people to watch the videos before they start the project and jot down the directions first and then they have a written copy to follow as well.....
I made my first row with a 'no-chain' first row and it made it a more solid row. The pattern did 'shrink' but it does make a lovely afghan. I made mine in grey, red and black. He is a great teacher and I did write out the pattern and it helped to have it while working on it.
Wow love this video!!! Agree with the rest!!! You explain every well and i love the way you take the time to go through and show us all how you work through the first row. This might not mean much to many but the position of the camera and the way you work through the crocheting means ALOT to me. Thank you! On to video # 2 and #3!!! :)
i agree with lori1551 in adding a sc first row then starting pattern on the second row. i did that on mine and really like it. thanks for sharing the tutorial, you are great! very clear and easy to understand.
I am in the process of making your interesting pattern... but have a suggestion. I think you should add an additional row to your pattern. After the initial cast on I would do the 1st row as sc and then start the pattern on the 2nd row. Reason for that is that the edge would have a stronger base.I see by your picture that you finished your blanket by crocheting around all the edges,,,many new bees would not know to do that. Great pattern, Thanks
@BloodLustChan this is a hard question to answer...it really depends on the pattern how many colors you are you are going ot use and how big you want to make it!!!!
i usually buy a couple of each i want to use and buy more if i need it!
Thanks again for the new vids! One question lol, I don['t have to go into the 4th stitch for the last half pinwheel? I noticed you only had like 2-3 chains left and just said go into the last one. That's where I was getting a little confused. Im sure I can get this now. thank you.!
can you please do a video showing how to crochet a beanie with very small yarn

I have a question...whenever I do a treble crochet in my stitch patterns, it tends to curl up. How do I prevent this from happening?
